Book excerpt: En el delta del Rio Yaqui, dentro del distrito de riego - No. 41, localizado al sur del Estado de Sonora y en suelos de aluvion se llevo a cabo un experimento sobre el cultivo del maiz, variedad H-412 durante el ciclo agricola 1970-71, usando el sistema de riego por goteo, con el proposito de determinar las mejores condiciones de lamina total aplicada durante el ciclo vegetativo y la mejor frequencia de las aplicaciones del riego. El diseno experimental fue un factorial 3x2 con arreglo en bloques al azar, se conbinaron tres niveles de lamina total aplicada durante el ciclo vegetativo 42 cm, 34 cm y 21 cm, o sea el 100%, 80% y 50% del consumo de agua e dos niveles de frequencia de la aplicacion del riego 1 dia y 7 dias. El agua se aplico siguiendo un programa de riegos basado en una curva de consumos acumulados del maiz obtenida a partir de datos procedentes de parcelas de prueba del PLAMEPA de la SRH. Los indices utilizados fueron: toneladas de grano por hectarea, toneladas de grano por millar de metros cubicos, toneladas de materia verde por hectarea. El analisis estatistico aunado a la condiciones del sistema de riego a las del cultivo, motivo que se encontrara conveniente: regar diariamente, aplicar el 100% del consumo de agua para el cultivo, formar los programas de riego con base a la curva de consumo de agua para el cultivo, implantar el cultivo del maiz en los huertos familiares.
