Book Rhymers Reflections with Reason

Download or read book Rhymers Reflections with Reason written by Gloria J. Nobles and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Nobles has been an educator and mentor for over 30 years. She began teaching in the Chicago Public School system and, for the past 23 years, has been a Professor at American River College in Sacramento in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology. Writing is Dr. Nobles' favorite hobby. She writes both short stories and what she refers to as Rhymers. She defines her Rhymers as rhythmic repetition of similar sounds achieved by manipulating words. One of her Rhymers, the "Stationary Missionary" was published in the 2004, 2005, and 2006 editions of the Yearbook for the Women's Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) church, a publication distributed to AME missionary societies throughout the United States and in four countries. For a number of years, she did not share her hobby with others but after insistence by one of her favorite writers, she started to write individualized Rhymers. Family and friends have encouraged her to share her hobby in a publication so others will be comforted, enriched, and ultimately blessed by the words she lovingly shares. Dr. Nobles' most recent publication was a Delphi study she conducted, "Social Networking: Indicators That Connect Instruction and Learning in Online Courses". In describing her study at a recent conference, she concluded her presentation with an unexpected short Rhymer that reviewed her methodology, data collection, and analysis. Unlike years gone by, she is no longer bashful about her gift of rhyme and now boldly shares her Rhymers with all... In Joy!

Book Still More Rhymes and Reflections

Download or read book Still More Rhymes and Reflections written by Gordon Alexander and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2023-02-14 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection is the third book in a series and contains sixty poems by Gordon Alexander. As in the previous two poetry collections, the writer continues with his approach using astute perceptions expressed with artful rhyming. Each poem is titled with a single word and does not intend to lure the reader into any special meaning. Instead, the poems are straight forward reflecting a personal awareness, exploration, and expressions of truth or experience. Clear and concise, the words mean exactly what they say as the author creatively plays with the rhythmic consonants and musical tones of vowels that embellish the topic. The author’s inspiration comes from personal observations witnessed from afar or in conversation with people known and unknown. The topics are broad in nature; some humorous, some poignant and philosophical. One of the strengths of the poet’s writing is the universality of content that makes them accessible, entertaining, and almost educational at times. This poetry collection does not require any chronological order to read and enjoy the poems, making it suitable for short or long poetic reflections that give all readers freedom and flexibility. To date, Gordon Alexander has written and published over 200 poems and has joined the ranks of American poets from the country’s midwestern region. His style is reminiscent of Ogden Nash’s word play in poetry complemented with strains of older Scottish poet Gerald Manley Hopkins who used the rhythm of ordinary speech. In the end, reading these poems will heighten everyone’s appreciation of the power of words, as well as encourage more personal presence in life that transforms even the most ordinary moment into a revelation. Download or read book Rhymes And Other Sorts of Poetry and Reasons written by David Bamford and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2020-04-29 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The poems in this collection fall into four categories: Snapshots, Chile, Spiritual Stirrings and Nature. What they have in common is that they are born out of the author’s lived experience: sights seen or moments lived, holidays in Chile, a country in which he lived for 22 years, visits to churches and other holy places, and the Cumbrian countryside in which he now lives. Every poem in the collection is preceded by a brief comment on the circumstances in which it came to be written. This is what gave rise to the title.

Book Rhymes N Reasons The Lyrical Expressions of Bob Marks

Download or read book Rhymes N Reasons The Lyrical Expressions of Bob Marks written by Bob Marks and published by eBooks2go, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-04-19 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In that Rhymes and Reasons are songs, not poems, I’ve left them in the accepted patterns necessary to set them to music. There may be some repetition but rare is the song sang in its entirety without repeating verses or choruses especially, what is now considered the chorus. The earlier songs were primarily AABA or ABAC patterns which were the norm back then. As patterns evolved into the more contemporary verse-chorus mode, I’d suspect that happened because repetition of the chorus allows for more rousing concert finales in which audience might be tempted to sing along.
