Book excerpt: Everything that has ever been created or achieved began as a thought. Living a life of destiny requires one to gain mastery over their thoughts through a process of harmonising their spirit, soul and body. This means change, which although a constant in life, can be challenging; changing a mind-set even more so. This book is aimed at giving readers, especially Africans, a different perspective of their circumstances. It challenges the subconscious beliefs they may have which may be holding them back from living their potential. Although set within an African context, the truths presented is the minimum daily dose of inspiration and life coaching anyone needs to kick start the revolution of their minds. Through a pragmatic, humour filled, conversational style, Akosua exposes truths, laws and secrets for living a 'truly' winning life. In here she shares: Why the natural state is a life of abundance Why having a vision and dreaming is important How the 'secret' to living your potential lies in your thoughts How to discover and become more of the REAL you Akosua says 'come with an open mind, embrace the truths presented and you will begin to discover how gaining mastery over your thoughts can propel you into living your wildest dreams'.
Download or read book America s Revolutionary Mind written by C. Bradley Thompson and published by Encounter Books. This book was released on 2019-11-05 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: America's Revolutionary Mind is the first major reinterpretation of the American Revolution since the publication of Bernard Bailyn's The Ideological Origins of the American Revolution and Gordon S. Wood's The Creation of the American Republic. The purpose of this book is twofold: first, to elucidate the logic, principles, and significance of the Declaration of Independence as the embodiment of the American mind; and, second, to shed light on what John Adams once called the "real American Revolution"; that is, the moral revolution that occurred in the minds of the people in the fifteen years before 1776. The Declaration is used here as an ideological road map by which to chart the intellectual and moral terrain traveled by American Revolutionaries as they searched for new moral principles to deal with the changed political circumstances of the 1760s and early 1770s. This volume identifies and analyzes the modes of reasoning, the patterns of thought, and the new moral and political principles that served American Revolutionaries first in their intellectual battle with Great Britain before 1776 and then in their attempt to create new Revolutionary societies after 1776. The book reconstructs what amounts to a near-unified system of thought—what Thomas Jefferson called an “American mind” or what I call “America’s Revolutionary mind.” This American mind was, I argue, united in its fealty to a common philosophy that was expressed in the Declaration and launched with the words, “We hold these truths to be self-evident.”
Download or read book Revolution on My Mind written by Jochen Hellbeck and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2006-05-31 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revolution on My Mind is a stunning revelation of the inner world of Stalin’s Russia. We see into the minds and hearts of Soviet citizens who recorded their lives during an extraordinary period of revolutionary fervor and state terror. Writing a diary, like other creative expression, seems nearly impossible amid the fear and distrust of totalitarian rule; but as Jochen Hellbeck shows, diary-keeping was widespread, as individuals struggled to adjust to Stalin’s regime. Rather than protect themselves against totalitarianism, many men and women bent their will to its demands, by striving to merge their individual identities with the collective and by battling vestiges of the old self within. We see how Stalin’s subjects, from artists to intellectuals and from students to housewives, absorbed directives while endeavoring to fulfill the mandate of the Soviet revolution—re-creation of the self as a builder of the socialist society. Thanks to a newly discovered trove of diaries, we are brought face to face with individual life stories—gripping and unforgettably poignant. The diarists’ efforts defy our liberal imaginations and our ideals of autonomy and private fulfillment. These Soviet citizens dreamed differently. They coveted a morally and aesthetically superior form of life, and were eager to inscribe themselves into the unfolding revolution. Revolution on My Mind is a brilliant exploration of the forging of the revolutionary self, a study without precedent that speaks to the evolution of the individual in mass movements of our own time.
Download or read book Mindset Revolution written by Oscar Bimpong and published by . This book was released on 2021-03-29 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Book Outlines.........●The creative power of your thoughts and words.●The power of the mind and how it works.●The programming of the mind and its adverse effects.●How to get your mind out of prison and put it on a purposeful path.●How to be a slave to a winning mentality thereby creating the destiny you want. etc. The biggest and the most dangerous form of prison is not those in physical prison but a mind that is in prison. Some people are in a physical prison, but their minds are not in prison and some have freedom, but their minds are in prison. That is why a prisoner can be released from prison and become successful but the one who has never been to prison will still be struggling. The power of the mind has been underestimated for far too long. Many don't work on their mind. The mind is like a muscle, the more you work on it, the tougher it becomes to handle difficult and challenging situations that can cause you to quit in pursuit of life and your vision. The reason many succumb to challenges in life is that they haven't trained their mind to handle the battles they encounter. Success and failure start in the mind. You are already defeated or successful in your mind before you take a step. This is the reason why some people can have all the resources needed in pursuit of their vision but still fail because their mind is not set to succeed. That is, they doubt their abilities and that becomes established in real life that impacts their success. Others also can have scarce resources but because of their winning mentality, they can use it to build their vision to a successful venture. This means that lack of success is not a means to success likewise an abundance of resources. Therefore, your mindset is very critical to your success in life irrespective of the resources at your disposal. This book teaches you how to work on your mind and to use your mind to build a strong foundation for a successful venture. I want to reiterate the fact that everyone one of us are programmed in one way or the other. The worse form of programming is the programming of the mind. That is when the mind is designed to work on autopilot where a person acts consciously or unconsciously especially on a negative thought. A typical example is a negative affirmation of a phrase like 'it's not easy' consciously or unconsciously. When your thoughts become your words, it transitions to the level when your actions lead to a habitual lifestyle that can eventually lead to your character, which will define your destiny. This is why this book is designed to work on your mind to move you from the prison of the mind to a purposeful life where you positively impact your life, community and the world at large. Your destiny is in your own hands depending on what mindset you develop. Develop a mindset that drives a winning mentality and success in the pursuit of your life and vision will be a lifestyle.Remember, it's possible if only you believe.

Download or read book Mindset written by Carol S. Dweck and published by Ballantine Books. This book was released on 2007-12-26 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the renowned psychologist who introduced the world to “growth mindset” comes this updated edition of the million-copy bestseller—featuring transformative insights into redefining success, building lifelong resilience, and supercharging self-improvement. “Through clever research studies and engaging writing, Dweck illuminates how our beliefs about our capabilities exert tremendous influence on how we learn and which paths we take in life.”—Bill Gates, GatesNotes “It’s not always the people who start out the smartest who end up the smartest.” After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D., discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset. In this brilliant book, she shows how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. People with a fixed mindset—those who believe that abilities are fixed—are less likely to flourish than those with a growth mindset—those who believe that abilities can be developed. Mindset reveals how great parents, teachers, managers, and athletes can put this idea to use to foster outstanding accomplishment. In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset. She also expands the mindset concept beyond the individual, applying it to the cultures of groups and organizations. With the right mindset, you can motivate those you lead, teach, and love—to transform their lives and your own.

Download or read book Religion and the Post revolutionary Mind written by Arthur McCalla and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 2023-03-15 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The French Revolution swept away the Old Regime along with many of its ideas about epistemology, history, society, and politics. In the intellectual ferment that followed, debates about religion figured prominently as diverse thinkers grappled with the philosophical and civil status of religion in a post-revolutionary age. Arthur McCalla demonstrates the central place of religion in the intellectual life of post-revolutionary France in Religion and the Post-revolutionary Mind. Certain questions – What is the nature of religion? Does society rest on religious foundations? What ought to be the place of religion in society? – drew sustained attention from across the political spectrum. Idéologues viewed religion as error and sought to eradicate it through the promotion of secular values. Catholic Traditionalists understood religion as a body of revealed truths of supernatural origin that ought to be authoritative in all aspects of life. Liberals sought to replace Christian orthodoxy with a new public faith consonant with liberal values. But these blocs were not monolithic, and McCalla reveals the complexities of each one, as well as the dialogues and rivalries among them. The categories established by the concepts of religion these thinkers constructed continue to shape debates over liberationist critiques, liberal pluralism, laïcité, and political theology. The place of religion in civil society is again a matter of urgent debate. Religion and the Post-revolutionary Mind provides essential historical context for thinking about the status of religion in the contemporary world.
Download or read book Mindset Revolution III written by Akosua Bame and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-11-26 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the handbook to the most important key to unlocking Africa’s power – Mindset. Akosua Bame continues her popular Mindset Revolution series with this latest book, noting that everything that has ever been created began as a thought – and thoughts are driven by mindsets. Without the right mindsets, Africa will remain caught up in this ever-vicious cycle of poverty and dependence on aid. In this book, the author seeks to empower her audience to play their part in resetting and rebuilding Africa, by sharing strategies for developing and embedding the seven mindsets that are necessary to realising the continent’s potential. Here she discusses a visionary mindset, an evolutionary mindset, a legacy mindset, a knowledge-seeking mindset, a wealth-creation mindset, an entrepreneurial mindset and a health mindset. Akosua declares that Africa has been a cocoon for far too long; it is time for the butterfly to emerge. For that to happen, the people of Africa must turn inward, change the way they think, and then take steps to transform the continent. It is time for a paradigm shift. It is time for Africa to stop apologetically seeking a voice on the global stage. It is time for Africa to stop seeking solutions to its socio-economic problems by looking externally. It is time for Africa to realise that the power and indeed the only way to transform comes from within. To build the Africa we want, to transform the continent, all it takes is this – MINDSET REVOLUTION.
Download or read book Radical Product Thinking written by R. Dutt and published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers. This book was released on 2021-09-27 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iteration rules product development, but it isn't enough to produce dramatic results. This book champions Radical Product Thinking, a systematic methodology for building visionary, game-changing products. In the last decade, we've learned to harness the power of iteration to innovate faster—we've invested in a fast car, but our ability to set a clear destination and navigate to it hasn't kept up. When we iterate without a clear vision or strategy, our products become bloated, fragmented, and driven by irrelevant metrics. They catch “product diseases” that often kill innovation. Radical Product Thinking (RPT) gives organizations a repeatable model for building world-changing products. The key? Being vision-driven instead of iteration-led. R. Dutt guides readers through the five elements of the methodology (vision, strategy, prioritization, execution and measurement, and culture) to develop a clear process for translating vision into reality, and turning RPT skills into muscle memory. This book offers refreshing solutions to the shortcomings of our current model for product development; be prepared to toss out everything you know about a good vision and learn how to measure progress to create revolutionary products. The best part? You don't have to be a natural-born visionary to produce extraordinary results.

Schiffer gives us overwhelming evidence that each side of our brain possesses an autonomous, distinct personality. OF TWO MINDS transforms our understanding of how and why we experience emotional distress, and suggests a path to a more harmonious relationship between our two selves.
Download or read book Revolutionary Poetics written by Sarah RudeWalker and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 2023-04-15 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Revolutionary Poetics, Sarah RudeWalker details the specific ways that the Black Arts Movement (BAM) achieved its revolutionary goals through rhetorical poetics—in what forms, to what audiences, and to what effect. BAM has had far-reaching influence, particularly in developments in positive conceptions of Blackness, in the valorization of Black language practices and its subsequent effects on educational policy, in establishing a legacy of populist dissemination of African American vernacular culture, and in setting the groundwork for important considerations of the aesthetic intersections of race with gender and sexuality. These legacies stand as the movement’s primary—and largely unacknowledged—successes, and they provide significant lessons for navigating our current political moment. RudeWalker presents rhetorical readings of the work of BAM poets (including, among others, Amiri Baraka, Gwendolyn Brooks, Margaret Burroughs, Sarah Webster Fabio, Nikki Giovanni, Etheridge Knight, Audre Lorde, Haki Madhubuti, Carolyn Rodgers, Sonia Sanchez, and the Last Poets) in order to demonstrate the various strands of rhetorical influence that contributed to the Black Arts project and the significant legacies these writers left behind. Her investigation of the rhetorical impact of Black Arts poetry allows her to deal realistically with the movement’s problematic aspects, while still devoting thoughtful scholarly attention to the successful legacy of BAM writers and the ways their work can continue to shape contemporary rhetorical activism.
