Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Christian history, no phenomenon is clearer than the recurrence of revivals. A passion for repentance sweeps across a city, and those who had been unaware of the supernatural are now keenly aware of God’s presence. Gripped by conviction of wrongdoing, they throw everything aside and desperately search for a way of salvation. Our spiritual instincts are often clouded by worthless pursuits, but God is working through His laws for the salvation of His people and for the world’s good. In Revival Now, learn about God’s laws of revival, including the laws of progress, spiritual growth, ebbing tide, fullness of time, awakening, variety, and more. Edited for today’s reader by Tom Phillips, Revival Now, originally written by James Burns in 1909 (Revivals, Their Laws and Leaders), traces common characteristics of past revivals, and shows how our world today is ripe for a new, profound move of God’s Spirit. Also included are inspirational prompts and prayers to help you experience Scripture and encounter Jesus. A Jesus awakening is here! DR. TOM PHILLIPS is a farm boy from Mississippi whose grandfather was a circuit-riding preacher. His family’s spiritual heritage originated in the great awakenings throughout the Southeast, beginning in Kentucky, in the early 1800s. Today Tom is vice president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). Tom and his wife, Ouida, have three grown children and make their home in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Book Awakening the Sleeping Giant

Download or read book Awakening the Sleeping Giant written by Mario C. Alleckna and published by Trafford on Demand Pub. This book was released on 2003 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With global disasters lurking on the horizon, today's rapidly growing political and economical uncertainty has once again become the breeding ground of fear and depression. And while end-time prophesies are slowly unfolding, the Christian church finds herself surrounded by a society which is tossed around like a wave in an ocean of dramatic events and changes. In such a climate of negative predictions, the cry of our nations for real answers and a clear sense of direction has become an unprecedented opportunity for God's people. Is the Christian church able and prepared to meet the challenges that lie ahead? Are God's people ready and equipped for the great end-time harvest that is coming? Reflecting the unquestionable need for personal revival and the revival of the church, this book takes an analytical and thought-provoking look at the individual Christian life and the Christian church in general. With an in depth, holistic approach, the author discusses a wide spectrum of fundamental issues: Why is the highly educated modern Christian church seemingly so powerless? What does it take to get onto the road of a church revival? Can the Christian church have the strength of a giant? What does the Bible have to say about the spiritual war and the end-time? Founded on Biblical truths and spiced with a fresh, insightful look at the Christian life, this book challenges and encourages the reader to pursue a meaningful, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

Download or read book A God Sized Vision written by Collin Hansen and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2010-11-02 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can God stir revival by his Holy Spirit, even in our culture today? Do we really believe he can? In a day of diminished expectations, A God-Sized Vision: Revival Accounts That Stretch and Stir recounts global examples of prior revivals, beginning with the Reformation and the Great Awakenings. It continues with the Welsh and Azusa Street revivals and those that occurred simultaneously in Asia, followed by the East Africa Revival of the 1930s. More recent revivals in North America that instigated parachurch or evangelistic ministries like those of Billy Graham and the revivals in China, particularly in Henan Province over the last forty years, give further evidence of church renewal. These stories enlarge our hearts, expand our minds, and empower our witness to the power of God at work in human history. Christians with a deep evangelistic commitment who realize that there is more to church growth than field-tested techniques will expand their vision by remembering God’s vision, as it has been revealed throughout history. Hansen and Woodbridge mine these stories of renewal to suggest how to get ready for revival today.

Book Revival God s Way Experiencing God s Presence at the Deepest Level

Download or read book Revival God s Way Experiencing God s Presence at the Deepest Level written by Vishnu M. Harbhajan and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-02-23 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to an ABC Poll 83% of Americans identify themselves as Christians.. Of this .53 % are Protestants, 22% percent Catholic. 37%t of all Christians describe themselves as born-again or evangelical which includes nearly half of all Protestants (47 percent). However, we all need to ask: how viable is our faith? Do we just carry on traditions because of our upbringing or is our faith in Christ intensely personal and inspirational? Boredom should never be a feature of our lives- if we have experienced a born again encounter with God!.The Body of Christ-the church should be the living example of Christ on earth in holiness, love and compassion. If these traits are not evident, then we do need a fresh touch from God both personally and collectively. This is the the thrust of this book! To challenge and inspire the reader to examine his or her life and commit to all that Jesus demands so that He would restore and rekindle His love and grace within us. God wants to work through us and His church but we all have to bring our lives under His agenda and expectations. When this happens the Holy Spirit will 'explode" within us the Life of Christ and our spiritual awakening will have begun. Read pray-fully and apply His Word as you work though the chapters. Revival -Gods way is just 'around the corner.!" If our Christianity is dull and boring then we need to know that there is more-much more! Jesus came to give our lives meaning and purpose every day of our brief existence and not just for us to identify with a denomination or church. The life of Jesus Christ is meant to be invasive and pervasive, affecting every facet of the believers existence. We were destined to live a joyful. passionate-Spirit filled life -a quality of living that worldly wealth, sensual pleasure or personal ambitions falls by the wayside in comparison to the abundant life in Christ. Formality, passionate less praying and preaching are often the norm. Congregants sometimes attend out of duty and not because of a consuming desire to know the God of the Bible. For non church people or the spiritually insensitive to turn to the church -we first have to demonstrate a passion, love and intensity that flows out of our daily communion with Christ which will subsequently, outshine every aspiration of the non-believer, so they see and feel that we have much more than they do. For this to happen the church and individual christian must experience a spiritual renewal. Allow God to do a new work in you and in your your church-be available to Him, and say in your heart -" I WANT MORE! There is no second baptism but a complete turning to Christ, giving Him all our sins and personal ambitions and making Him absolute Lord! When that happens there will be a personal spiritual break- through and the Lord of glory will no longer be on the outside, knocking, pleading and begging to come in!This will transform our tastes and goals and affect the spiritually unconnected around us. The politicians and celebrities do not have the ultimate answers, as they themselves need a Savior, but even if everyone can attain the American Dream- there will still be a deep and empty feeling of not having personal peace and hope. Only Jesus Christ can meet the deepest need of the human race .The book is my take on where we are and how we can experience a mighty touch from God if wee seek Him ---His way!

Book From Asbury University Revival to the Russian Revival Read about Twenty Revivals of the Twentieth Century

Download or read book From Asbury University Revival to the Russian Revival Read about Twenty Revivals of the Twentieth Century written by G. J. Hocking and published by G. J. Hocking. This book was released on 2019-12-24 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How many countries experienced a religious revival during the 20th century? According to this new book on church revival history, there were, at the very least, twenty such revivals occurring in various parts of the world. Revival swept from Asbury University, Australia, through America, and across the European continent; all within the space of one century. Why This Book? I wrote The Twentieth Revivals of the Century because there are so many stories that need to be told. Stories of sweeping revivals, which happened all across the globe. Spiritual awakenings that occurred in countries making headlines today--sometimes for all the wrong reasons. Nations like North Korea's Pyongyang and Japan, which incidentally almost became a Christian nation, leading up to the twentieth century. At this time, Christianity began gaining ground at a rapid pace. Such was the impact of the revivals covered in this book heading into the twentieth century. So, can we see a repeat of such revival fervour in the twenty-first Century? Was the recent Asbury Revival comparable with the one seen there in the 1970s? Does it measure up to the same basic criteria or pass the 'smell test' of how recent revivals have come about? These question, although not directly answered will show the the so-called Asbury revival was missing two basic ingredients, the preaching of the gospel and conversion of the masses.

Book The Lewis Awakening

Download or read book The Lewis Awakening written by Duncan Campbell and published by . This book was released on 2017-09-29 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The island of Lewis has been the scene of a very gracious movement of the Spirit. The breath of revival has been felt, and communities have been conscious of the mighty impact of God. This island had, in days past, experienced seasons of refreshing from the presence of the Lord, but of late years the stream of vital Christianity appeared to be running low.In our day of spiritual superficiality and anemic Christianity, characterized by sin-infested pulpits and indifferent pews, the subject of revival is nonetheless a popular one. Few who talk of it, however, have the faintest idea what a real moving of God is all about. Impressive financial holdings, ornate edifices of worship, statistical proofs of "success," and mind-boggling technological sophistications merely mask the spiritual bankruptcy within the Church as a whole today. We are indeed poor in spirit. The real problem is, we seem completely incapable of even beginning to recognize just how spiritually poor we have become. We lean to our own understanding, make peace with our pet sins, deem ourselves to be rich and increased with goods and in need of nothing, all the while piddling piously with ideas of revival. But revival can never be piddled with. It is very, very costly. Duncan Campbell, in this heart-stirring message of personal and corporate revival, strikes the taproot of the genuine working of God among His people. Such revival is rare, priceless, and exceedingly costly. Campbell captures the spirit of God's desire to work, and carefully delineates both God's sovereign moving and man's responsibility to respond to the promptings of the Spirit of God.This world has witnessed God's sovereign dealings through the humblest of men, often at the darkest hours in history. We remember the rebirth of Martin Luther and the Reformation that followed. The Puritans obeyed God's Word with abandonment in the midst of a wicked generation. The Spirit moved mightily upon the congregation of the dry preacher Jonathan Edwards and affected an entire generation. The eighteenth century saw the powerfully convicting work of God's Spirit in New England, the nineteenth had its great New York prayer revival and the early twentieth century heralded a phenomenal spiritual awakening in Wales. The cry of our day is, "Where is the Lord God of Elijah?" The question might better be asked, "Where are the Elijahs of the Lord God?"While there is much prayer today, there is little of the humility behind it that characterized the life of Duncan Campbell. Here is a message by this great servant of our century. It is hot with the breath of God. It needs to be read and reread upon our knees until it burns its way into the hearts of the people of God and out through our lives. The truth is here to kindle the flame. Are we ignitable? May God once again drench us with the oil of the Spirit and set us ablaze!

Book Awake and Arise the Dying of the American Church

Download or read book Awake and Arise the Dying of the American Church written by Dr. Stan Mars and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2019-09-05 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The majority of churches in America are either dying or dead. This is due to the sin of disobedience by man through the rejection and refusal to obey the commandments of God especially in John 13: 34-35 and Matthew 28: 19-20. Jesus commands us to GO into all nations and make disciples and this is an act of love for God and others. You will learn that most churches are not in this business so they do not make any disciples, and importantly, they don’t make leaders of disciples. Awake and Arise calls for the reformation of the American Church to begin to do God’s church - God’s way. If the church will adhere and obey, they will find revival offered by God. If the church continues to refuse, they will find the same experience that the Church of Laodicea found in the spewing out by Jesus Christ. To the glory of God - let us be humble and pray for forgiveness and move to God for His blessings to begin this journey!
