Book Revenue Management Cost Control and Financial Analysis in the Hospitality Industry

Download or read book Revenue Management Cost Control and Financial Analysis in the Hospitality Industry written by Godwin-Charles Ogbeide and published by . This book was released on 2013-12-23 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revenue Management, Cost Control and Financial Analysis in the Hospitality Industry uses a step-by-step spreadsheet approach to accounting and financial analysis. It teaches students budgeting and other financial competencies needed in the hospitality industry and was designed for students and managers to use with little or no facilitation by an instructor. The book begins with an introduction to financial analysis and spreadsheet modeling. Subsequent chapters focus on specific skills such as forecasting, revenue management, and cost control, which support the maximization of profits. Readers will create annual operating budgets, analyze financial statements, and understand the impact of each variable on the organization's performance. Filled with examples and scenarios that are real-world applicable, the material focuses on the facts and solutions needed to solve accounting and financial problems. Revenue Management, Cost Control and Financial Analysis in the Hospitality Industry can be used in hospitality accounting and finance courses. It is also a helpful supplement for courses in recreation and sports management, and a useful resource for current and future hospitality managers. Godwin-Charles Ogbeide is a faculty member in the Department of Food, Human Nutrition, and Hospitality Management at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. He has developed and taught many courses in the field of hospitality management including Food, Beverage, and Labor Cost Management; Front Office Revenue Management; Meetings, Events and Conventions Management; and Hospitality Operations and Financial Analysis. Dr. Ogbeide received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees with emphasis in Hospitality Management and Leadership Development from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He also has an M.B.A. and more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Dr. Ogbeide is a winner of many awards including several "innovation awards."

Book Revenue Management

Download or read book Revenue Management written by Ronald Huefner and published by Business Expert Press. This book was released on 2015-05-28 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the emerging field of revenue management and its applications across a broad spectrum of business activity. It recounts the history and development of revenue management and addresses the analytical tools needed to integrate revenue management into management generally and financial and accounting practice in particular. Revenue Management discusses and assesses various pricing practices and other revenue management techniques. It gives particular attention to the role of capacity analysis and the connection of revenue management to the theory of constraints. While revenue management originated in the service industries, it is now practiced across a broad spectrum of business and not-for-profit organizations. This book will be a useful guide to managers at all levels who wish to give greater consideration to the importance of revenue management in their organizations. The second edition reorganizes the presentation of the subject, adds many new examples, and concludes with a chapter on emerging issues.

Book Cost and Revenue Constrained Production

Download or read book Cost and Revenue Constrained Production written by Rolf Färe and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The basic notion underlying this monograph - budget or revenue constrained models of production - we owe to Ronald W. Shephard, who recognized its fundamental importance in modeling behavior in a wide variety of settings including the service and public sector. Our endeavor here is to extend Shephard's earlier work in several directions while maintaining his axiomatic approach. Our contributions include an expanded set of duality results and a general bent toward empirical implementation: including various parameterizations, applications to efficiency and productivity measurement, and shadow pricing. We hope to provide those engaged in empirical work with some powerful and useful tools which have received relatively little attention. The nature of the material in this monograph is somewhat technical, however, the level of mathematical difficulty is standard. Although we have tried to keep the monograph fairly self-contained, we have also kept technical detail to a minimum in the body of the text. Many technical extensions appear as problems at the ends of Chapters. The reader is also referred to the notes at the end of each chapter for references to additional literature. A prepublication draft of this manuscript was used as lecture notes in a graduate course in production theory at the Department of Economics at Bilkent University. We thank our students as well as faculty members for their patience and interest. Special thanks go to Dean Togan, Zeynap Koksal and Ali Dogramaci for making our stay in Ankara not only productive, but also enjoyable.

Book Breakeven Analysis

Download or read book Breakeven Analysis written by Michael E. Cafferky and published by Business Expert Press. This book was released on 2010-08-11 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explains the vocabulary of cost-volume-profit (breakeven) analysis (CVP), explores the breadth of applications of CVP, and illustrates the use of CVP concepts in a broad range of management and marketing scenarios. The book examines the proper identification of a 'unit', the various formulations of breakeven, profit planning using the breakeven formulas, and the application of CVP in sensitivity analysis. Each chapter will offer several important ingredients for a practical 'how to' approach: the type of data needed, the formula, how to calculate and interpret the math, a specific example followed by a brief review of the assumptions and limitations of that method.
