Book Roadside Revegetation

Download or read book Roadside Revegetation written by David E. Steinfeld and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Native plants are a foundation of ecological function, affecting soil conservation, wildlife habitat, plant communities, invasive species, and water quality. Establishing locally-adapted, self-sustaining plant communities can also support transportation goals for safety and efficiency. Past obstacles to establishing native plant communities on roadsides have been technical, informational, and organizational. Effective strategies and practical techniques for revegetating the disturbed conditions with limited resources must be made available to practitioners. Multiple disciplines, ranging from engineering to soil science, ecology, botany, and wildlife science, must be able to work cooperatively, not in isolation. This report offers an integrated approach to facilitate the successful establishment of native plants along roadsides and other areas of disturbance associated with road modifications. It guides readers through a comprehensive process of: 1) initiating, 2) planning, 3) implementing, and 4) monitoring a roadside revegetating project with native plants.

Book Practical Handbook of Disturbed Land Revegetation

Download or read book Practical Handbook of Disturbed Land Revegetation written by F.F. Munshower and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This crucial reference focuses on the growth of vegetation on disturbed lands, specifically the problems of plant seeding and growth and the ecological consequences of that growth. This one-of-a-kind book covers the spectrum of plant development, including the creation of an acceptable rooting medium and seeding or planting, and discusses practices to enhance diversity and usefulness of the plant community. This handbook gives detailed examples of how to rehabilitate and restore damaged land and, in most cases, mined land. The book focuses on the complete restoration of soil, water, vegetation, and wildlife. It provides a thorough introduction to the science behind the practice and follows with practical examples. A complete, detailed list of genera and species to expedite restoration is also included.

This book was released on 2007-04-10 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume brings together papers from geotechnical and civil engineers, biologists, ecologists and foresters. They discuss current problems in slope stability research and how to address them using ground bio- and eco-engineering techniques. Coverage presents studies by scientists and practitioners on slope instability, erosion, soil hydrology, mountain ecology, land use and restoration and how to mitigate these problems using vegetation.

Book Plan for Trees

Download or read book Plan for Trees written by David Brouwer and published by NSW Agriculture. This book was released on 2016-04-06 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The benefits of trees and shrubs on farm production are beginning to be recognised by most landholders. This book details the methods you can use to re-establish trees and shrubs on your farm—especially those that may have been there originally. There are a series of important steps to success, which will result in native plants coming back into your farm landscape. This book doesn’t attempt to explain the benefits and techniques of farm forestry. Many of the principles overlap, but there are other considerations of marketing, species and site selection which will be specific to commercial production. Once you have mastered many of the steps of revegetation, you might consider a farm forestry venture and references are available for this. This book covers the main competency AHCNAR402A - Plan the implementation of revegetation works of the National Training Package. The following learning outcomes are included: · define the role of revegetation in agricultural systems · assess the value and role of existing remnant vegetation on a particular land area · plan revegetation strategies for a particular land area · identify the requirements for revegetating parts of a given land area · outline short-term and long-term management strategies for revegetating a particular area.
