Book Return of the Surya

Download or read book Return of the Surya written by K.K. Sinha and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-03-02 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book attempts to look at future of technology and need of HR to reorient its philosophy and practices required to build a greater and a better tomorrow, through the views and experiences of a large number of technocrats and leaders, HR practitioners, academicians, business experts, bureaucrats and trade unionists. We have always been overwhelmed by the grandeur of the Sun. The all-powerful, merciful, the creator of our solar system and all lives on our planet. The Surya is the soul of all creations. He is always there with us, around us and is so merciful! We take Him for granted and remain generally unmindful of Him. The world however, has been mostly depending for its increasing needs of energy on fossil fuel, realising now thankfully that this is becoming a major threat to environment and all lives. This realisation has been now driving the globe to be putting greater reliance on renewable sources of energy including the wind, hydro and primarily the Sun. The entire energy value chain is likely to see significant disruption in the coming years and decades. India, which is at an evolving stage in its growth story, promises many opportunities for energy players. The ambitious megaprojects, launched by the Country are likely to drive higher energy consumption. The new thrust on nonconventional and renewable sources of energy has been radically altering the dynamics of the power sector. HR will therefore, have a very important role in understanding energy solutions for the future and it will have to reinvent itself continually to meet the challenges of a technology-driven future, while ensuring not to lose sight of the 'human' aspect of organisation and culture. HR also has to be harnessing its natural capability to be future ready. While technologists and scientists from all over the world are looking for the most green and renewable sources of energy, solar may well emerge as the best substitute for fossil fuels over short time. It could probably allow humans to happily coexist with the flora and fauna, while making the most efficient use of technology. Let us value and celebrate the return of the Surya to make a better world!

Book The Mahabharata of Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasa Complete

Download or read book The Mahabharata of Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasa Complete written by Anonymous and published by Library of Alexandria. This book was released on with total page 12302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Om! Having bowed down to Narayana and Nara, the most exalted male being, and also to the goddess Saraswati, must the word Jaya be uttered. Ugrasrava, the son of Lomaharshana, surnamed Sauti, well-versed in the Puranas, bending with humility, one day approached the great sages of rigid vows, sitting at their ease, who had attended the twelve years’ sacrifice of Saunaka, surnamed Kulapati, in the forest of Naimisha. Those ascetics, wishing to hear his wonderful narrations, presently began to address him who had thus arrived at that recluse abode of the inhabitants of the forest of Naimisha. Having been entertained with due respect by those holy men, he saluted those Munis (sages) with joined palms, even all of them, and inquired about the progress of their asceticism. Then all the ascetics being again seated, the son of Lomaharshana humbly occupied the seat that was assigned to him. Seeing that he was comfortably seated, and recovered from fatigue, one of the Rishis beginning the conversation, asked him, ‘Whence comest thou, O lotus-eyed Sauti, and where hast thou spent the time? Tell me, who ask thee, in detail.’ Accomplished in speech, Sauti, thus questioned, gave in the midst of that big assemblage of contemplative Munis a full and proper answer in words consonant with their mode of life. “Sauti said, ‘Having heard the diverse sacred and wonderful stories which were composed in his Mahabharata by Krishna-Dwaipayana, and which were recited in full by Vaisampayana at the Snake-sacrifice of the high-souled royal sage Janamejaya and in the presence also of that chief of Princes, the son of Parikshit, and having wandered about, visiting many sacred waters and holy shrines, I journeyed to the country venerated by the Dwijas (twice-born) and called Samantapanchaka where formerly was fought the battle between the children of Kuru and Pandu, and all the chiefs of the land ranged on either side. Thence, anxious to see you, I am come into your presence. Ye reverend sages, all of whom are to me as Brahma; ye greatly blessed who shine in this place of sacrifice with the splendour of the solar fire: ye who have concluded the silent meditations and have fed the holy fire; and yet who are sitting—without care, what, O ye Dwijas (twice-born), shall I repeat, shall I recount the sacred stories collected in the Puranas containing precepts of religious duty and of worldly profit, or the acts of illustrious saints and sovereigns of mankind?” “The Rishi replied, ‘The Purana, first promulgated by the great Rishi Dwaipayana, and which after having been heard both by the gods and the Brahmarshis was highly esteemed, being the most eminent narrative that exists, diversified both in diction and division, possessing subtile meanings logically combined, and gleaned from the Vedas, is a sacred work. Composed in elegant language, it includeth the subjects of other books. It is elucidated by other Shastras, and comprehendeth the sense of the four Vedas. We are desirous of hearing that history also called Bharata, the holy composition of the wonderful Vyasa, which dispelleth the fear of evil, just as it was cheerfully recited by the Rishi Vaisampayana, under the direction of Dwaipayana himself, at the snake-sacrifice of Raja Janamejaya?’

Book Indian Private International Law

Download or read book Indian Private International Law written by Stellina Jolly and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2021-10-07 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an authoritative account of the evolution and application of private international law principles in India in civil commercial and family matters. Through a structured evaluation of the legislative and judicial decisions, the authors examine the private international law in the Republic and whether it conforms to international standards and best practices as adopted in major jurisdictions such as the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, India's BRICS partners - Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa and other common law systems such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Nepal. Divided into 13 chapters, the book provides a contextualised understanding of legal transformation on key aspects of the Indian conflict-of-law rules on jurisdiction, applicable law and the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments or arbitral awards. Particularly fascinating in this regard is the discussion and focus on both traditional and contemporary areas of private international law, including marriage, divorce, contractual concerns, the fourth industrial revolution, product liability, e-commerce, intellectual property, child custody, surrogacy and the complicated interface of 'Sharia' in the conflict-of-law framework. The book deliberates the nuanced perspective of endorsing the Hague Conference on Private International Law instruments favouring enhanced uniformity and predictability in matters of choice of court, applicable law and the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments. The book's international and comparative focus makes it eminently resourceful for legislators, the judges of Indian courts and other interested parties such as lawyers and litigants when they are confronted with cross-border disputes that involve an examination of India's private international law. The book also provides a comprehensive understanding of Indian private international law, which will be useful for academics and researchers looking for an in-depth discussion on the subject.

Book excerpt: The reserved alien spirits visiting Earth were hoping for a secretive, successful search of their ancestors, but as their space pods entered Earth's atmosphere they were instantly detected by the diligent workforce of Skylights, the International Space Station. As the four alien pods landed in different areas around the Tropic of Cancer, one of the pods veered off-course towards the islands of Hawaii, initiating a deadly hunt. The US Pentagon kept the intrusion quiet but the President was incensed by the incursion. At the same time, a Los Angeles Police Inspector's investigations were dealing with the deaths of three young teenagers, a missing UCLA student in Hawaii and the US military who were monitoring the aliens’ presence. This gave the LAPI the edge to identify exactly who was to blame for the deaths of the teenagers.
