Book The Technological Evolution of Industrial Districts

Download or read book The Technological Evolution of Industrial Districts written by Fiorenza Belussi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fiorenza Belussi, Giorgio Gottardi, and Enzo Rullani This volume collects some papers presented at the Vicenza conference "The Future of Districts", held in June 1999, organised by the Department of Technology and Management of Industrial Systems of the Faculty of Engineering of Padua University, with the collaboration of several engineers, industrial economists, and experts in the issue of technology management. This was the starting point of a long-lasting and painful colIective discussion, the results of which are documented here, during many meetings of this "itinerant" group, including the workshop in Padua, organised by Professor Luciano Pilotti and held in May 2001, "Systems, governance & knowledge within firm networks" at the Department of Economics of the University of Padua, and the recent international research seminar, held in May 2002, in Rome at the Tagliacarne Institute, within the EU sponsored project "Industrial districts' re location processes: identifying policies of EU enlargement West-East ID". The reason we decided to organise this book was not only to underline the importance of the industrial district (ID) model as a tool of propulsive local growth in a country like Italy. On the contrary, the idea that moved us was the theoretical dissatisfaction with the way in which the phenomenon of local development and industrial clustering of specific industries was treated in the international approach of the various disciplines.

Book Towards Cyberpsychology

Download or read book Towards Cyberpsychology written by Giuseppe Riva (Ph.D.) and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on research in the social sciences, communications, and other fields, this book wants to analyze how the online environment is influencing the experience of psychology. However, understanding how the Internet is changing our everyday experience presents a substantial challenge for the psychologists. Now, research in this area is still sparse and limited in both the number and scope of studies: actual research, especially studies with strict methodologies, is only just beginning. The contributions in this book are among the first scientific attempts to take a serious look at various aspects of Internet-related psychology. However, we need not start from scratch. Psychology has a broad knowledge about the factors that affect human behaviour in other setting. So, the papers collected for this book are descriptive and practical-oriented in nature.

Book Project Management Office

Download or read book Project Management Office written by Vincenzo Morabito and published by EGEA spa. This book was released on 2014-12-10T00:00:00+01:00 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyze the role and the best practices of the Project Management Officer (PMO), a strategic function for those organizations, which are focused on the technological transformation and the digitalization of their own business. The author decided to activate a comparison between the competencies and the experiences typical of the professionals and the managers’ concrete activities, in order to connect two different views. This project, aimed to connect practice and theory and create a knowhow useful for companies’ activity, has identify six primary themes. First of all, it propose a predictive model for current organizations, meant as idiosyncratic combination of projects and processes. They then analyze the concept and the role of PMO, as central figure in determining the efficient control for the transformational process, as required by the business digitalization. Another chapter is related to a critical analysis of the company’s functions that a PMO could do (they are mostly seven). The different activities’ combinations create different PMO’s models, which have to be plan in correspondence of the different business’s needs. Another important analysis concerns the coding processes related to the project’s knowhow (reporting, Project Review Meeting, issue logs, i.e.). Peculiar attention is given to the risk management, topic that is always more central in a dynamic environment, oriented to the resources’ optimization. This contest is completed in the last chapter, in which are reported some considerations from interviews made at CIOs of leading companies, about IT and project management issues.

Book Innovation in Methodology and Practice in Language Learning

Download or read book Innovation in Methodology and Practice in Language Learning written by Christopher Williams and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-09-04 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is composed of 24 papers originally presented as talks at the VIII National Conference of the Italian Association of University Language Centres (Associazione Italiana dei Centri Linguistici Universitari: AICLU), held at the University of Foggia, Italy, between 30 May and 1st June 2013. The contributions fall into five sections: 1) keynote addresses from plenary speakers; 2) innovative challenges for language centres; 3) new developments in teaching language for specific purposes; 4) proposals and case studies in Content and Language Integrated Learning; and 5) the use of new technologies in language learning. 18 papers are in English, four in Italian, one in French and one in German. The fact that three-quarters of the papers are in English reflects the way English has become the lingua franca of academic conferences today. However, in keeping with the ethos of CercleS (Confédération Européenne des Centres de Langues de l’Enseignement Supérieur, the pan-European organisation to which AICLU belongs), which is strongly committed to promoting plurilingualism, it was crucial that contributions would also be accepted in other languages. The volume represents the ‘state of the art’ in the field of language teaching and theory in university language centres not only in Italy, but also in other parts of Europe and the Mediterranean, and testifies to the rich variety of ways in which these centres are adapting and thriving in rapidly changing times.
