Book Foundations of Software Technology and Theoretical Computer Science

Download or read book Foundations of Software Technology and Theoretical Computer Science written by Conjeevaram E. Veni Madhavan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1989-12-06 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers in this volume accepted for the conference on foundations of software technology and theoretical computer science project research results in - Algorithmics: design and analysis of graph, geometric, algebraic and VLSI algorithms; data structures; average analysis; complexity theory; parallel parsing. - Concurrency: algebraic semantics, event structures. - Logic programming: algebraic properties, semantics. - Software technology: program transformations, algebraic methods. These results together with the formal techniques employed to present them reflect current trends pursued by leading research groups around the world. The papers treat their topics in depth by carefully reviewing existing results, developing and demonstrating new techniques and suggesting further directions for research.

  • Publisher : PIANC

  • Pages : 98 pages

Download or read book Dry Docks written by and published by PIANC. This book was released on 1988 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Hydraulic Structures are subject to varying loads of cyclic character. These loads are primarily generated by differential water heads but also by waves, drive system forces and other actions. These loads may cause fatigue damage to the steel components. As a result, the designers must take account of an additional failure mode of these structures - the failure caused by fatigue. Prior to the 1970s, fatigue was of minor or no concern for designers, constructors and managers of hydraulic structures. Several serious fatigue damages, particularly to lock gates emphasised the need for guidelines in this field. Such guidelines already exist for other steel structures, such as bridges, cranes or pressure vessels, offshore structures and airplanes. These guidelines do not, however, address all specific operation conditions and demands that apply to hydraulic structures. This report aims to offer comprehensive guidelines in the field of fatigue to all professionals involved in design, construction and management of hydraulic steel structures."--Introduction

Book The Epididymis From Molecules to Clinical Practice

Download or read book The Epididymis From Molecules to Clinical Practice written by Bernard Robaire and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the late 1960s, there has been an acceleration of research focused on understanding how the efferent ducts, the epididymis, and the vas deferens function with respect to the maturation and storage of spermatozoa and as hormone dependent tissues. Another major interest in the epididymis is that it is an attractive target for the development of male contraceptives. There are well over 16,000 peer reviewed articles in the literature on these tissues, their structure, gene expression, protein synthesis and function. Regular international meetings have been initiated that are dedicated to this field. Thus, there is an urgent need for a comprehensive reference volume that spans every facet of epididymal biology, from historical background to the most current results, from basic cell and molecular biology to clinical issues. Well-established experts from every part of the world have contributed to this volume. By necessity, each author was given page limitations so that many topics are not dealt with exhaustively. Whenever possible, references to more comprehensive discussion of specific topics are included.
