Book excerpt: The goal of this book is to move our government, by educating America, to a place of responsible energy solutions which will produce financial and national security. It will provide a grass root opportunity for constituents to demand results from elected servants based on facts --not opinions. These facts are derived from the EIA, DOE, USGS, IPPA, NDGS, and other reputable scientific agencies, not environmental or political opinions. America is facing serious issues concerning its energy and political policies. We, as a people, have to act now to avoid further degradation of our country's future due to special interest groups and political maneuvering that is leaving our nation crippled. It is time the truth is explored and for the masses of Americans to make intelligent decisions as to which strategic path to follow concerning its energy policies, economy, and political infrastructure. John Piper's contemporary classic draws on key biblical texts to demonstrate that worship is the ultimate goal of the church and that proper worship fuels missionary outreach. Piper offers a biblical defence of God's supremacy in all things, providing a sound theological foundation for missions. He examines whether Jesus is the only way to salvation and issues a passionate plea for God-centredness in the missionary enterprise, seeking to define the scope of the task and the means for reaching 'all nations'. Let the Nations Be Glad! is a trusted resource for missionaries, pastors, church leaders, youth workers, seminary students, and all who want to connect their labours to God's global purposes. This third edition has been revised and expanded throughout and includes new material on the 'prosperity gospel'.

Book excerpt: The United States of America is the greatest, the noblest and, in its original founding principles, the only moral country in the history of the world." Ayn Rand The Constitution has failed. At its birth, the Constitution changed the world. But over the past century it has repeatedly failed to protect Americans from countless human rights violations. Yet, most Americans do not even realize that it has failed, which is a much more troubling problem. Americans are not properly educated in their nation's great heritage, nor the reasons why our nation exists. We are taught that we rebelled because we didn't want to pay taxes. Taxes were not the issue. Today, in a confused struggle to do what is right, we have cannibalize our principles and forgotten our great purpose. This book is an attempt to reawaken the giant that changed the world. The ideas that the led to our nations founding still have the power to radically change history. We only need to remember who we are. Liberal or conservative, this book will challenge you to see the world in a new and powerful way. The United States still has a destiny to fulfill in the world, the only question is... will we do what is necessary to realize that future? Find out how by reading "American Resurrection: The Failure of the U.S. Constitution and The Rebirth of A Nation."

Book Resurrection and the Restoration of Israel

Download or read book Resurrection and the Restoration of Israel written by Jon Douglas Levenson and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many famous antique texts are misunderstood and many others have been completely dismissed, all because the literary style in which they were written is unfamiliar today. So argues Mary Douglas in this controversial study of ring composition, a technique which places the meaning of a text in the middle, framed by a beginning and ending in parallel. To read a ring composition in the modern linear fashion is to misinterpret it, Douglas contends, and today's scholars must reevaluate important antique texts from around the world. Found in the Bible and in writings from as far a field as Egypt, China, Indonesia, Greece, and Russia, ring composition is too widespread to have come from a single source. Does it perhaps derive from the way the brain works? What is its function in social contexts? The author examines ring composition, its principles and functions, in a cross-cultural way. She focuses on ring composition in Homer's Iliad, the Bible's book of Numbers, and, for a challenging modern example, Laurence Sterne's Tristram Shandy, developing a persuasive argument for reconstruing famous books and rereading neglected ones.

Book Why Do the Nations Rage

Download or read book Why Do the Nations Rage written by David A. Ritchie and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-12-28 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if we understood nationalism as a religion instead of an ideology? What if nationalism is more spiritual than it is political? Several Christian thinkers have rightly recognized nationalism as a form of idolatry. However, in Why Do the Nations Rage?, David A. Ritchie argues that nationalism is inherently demonic as well. Through an interdisciplinary analysis of scholarship on nationalism and the biblical theology behind Paul’s doctrine of “powers,” Ritchie uncovers how the impulse behind nationalism is as ancient as the tower of Babel and as demonic as the worship of Baal. Moreover, when compared to Christianity, Ritchie shows that nationalism is best understood as a rival religion that bears its own distinctive (and demonically inspired) false gospel, which seeks to both imitate and distort the Christian gospel.

  • Publisher : Baker Academic

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a growing body of literature about the missional church, but the word missional is often defined in competing ways with little attempt to ground it deeply in Scripture. Michael Goheen, a dynamic speaker and the coauthor of two popular texts on the biblical narrative, unpacks the missional identity of the church by tracing the role God's people are called to play in the biblical story. Goheen shows that the church's identity can be understood only when its role is articulated in the context of the whole biblical story--not just the New Testament, but the Old Testament as well. He also explores practical outworkings and implications, offering field-tested suggestions for contemporary churches.
