Por ejemplo, cuando la causa del accidente se debe no sólo al conductor de un vehículo, sino también a la negligencia de la de la víctima. En estos casos, se aprecia una concurrencia de culpas (o de causas, como acertadamente matiza la autora), que se traduce en último término en una moderación de la responsabilidad y una reducción de la cuantía de la indemnización. Esta realidad constituye una cuestión de gran relevancia práctica, como refleja el número de pleitos en los que se alega la intervención de dos o más causas en el daño para lograr una aminoración de la responsabilidad y reducción del resarcimiento del daño. La presente obra recoge toda la problemática que presenta la concurrencia de causas en la responsabilidad civil extracontractual por accidentes de circulación, indicando soluciones prácticas a cada una de las cuestiones que se plantean. Para ello, la autora toma como referencia la jurisprudencia dictada por el Tribunal Supremo así como las abundantes resoluciones de las Audiencias Provinciales, relativas éstas a supuestos más concretos, donde cabe destacar un análisis detallado y profundidad de las más variadas hipótesis y supuestos de causas y culpas que pueden concurrir. Dada su enorme trascendencia y visión práctica, este trabajo proporciona una herramienta imprescindible para juristas. Asimismo, debido al completo estudio doctrinal realizado y al análisis de los distintos modelos vigentes en el derecho comparado constituye una fuente de obligada referencia para los legisladores.

Naturally it also has considerable importance for accident victims. Yet it has received relatively little scholarly attention, at least from a comparative perspective. The aim of this study is to examine national approaches to the award of damages under the head of loss of housekeeping capacity, and to compare the levels of damages so awarded. The research will therefore address both the concepts employed in different national systems and, by means of practical case studies, the compensation actually paid in individual cases. The results of the research comprise ten country reports (Austria, England and Wales, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain and Switzerland) based on a Questionnaire (Part I: General Part and Doctrine, Part II: Concrete Assessment Examples) and a concluding Comparative Report. This project, "Loss of Housekeeping Capacity", was undertaken at the request of the Swiss Insurance Association.
