Book A Resonance Raman Iodine Moessbauer Investigation of the Starch Iodine Structure Aqueous Solution and Iodine Vapor Preparations

Download or read book A Resonance Raman Iodine Moessbauer Investigation of the Starch Iodine Structure Aqueous Solution and Iodine Vapor Preparations written by Robert C. Teitelbaum and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The structure of the blue-black iodine complex of amylose (the linear, helical component of starch) prepared either from iodine and iodide in aqueous solution or from crystalline amylose and iodine vapor, has been studied by resonance Raman and iodine -129 Mossbauer spectroscopy. In both cases it is concluded that the identity of the major chromophore is essentially the same: the pentaiodide (I(5-1)) anion. For the material prepared from iodine vapor, the iodide required for (I(5-1)) formation is produced by hydrolysis or alcoholysis of iodine. The other product of this reaction, a hypoiodite, has been assigned in the iodine Mossbauer spectrum. (Author).

Book Resonance Raman Intensity Analysis Studies of Bond Selective Electronic Excitation in 1 2 dihaloethanes and Conformational Effects on the A band Short time Photodissociation Dynamics of 1 iodopropane Iodocyclohexane and Iodocyclopentane

This book was released on 2000 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (Uncorrected OCR) Abstract of thesis entitled RESONANCE RAMAN INTENSITY ANALYSIS STUDIES OF BOND SELECTIVE ELECTRONIC EXCITATION IN 1,2-DIHALOETHANES AND CONFORMATIONAL EFFECTS ON THE A-BAND SHORT-TIME PHOTODISSOCIATION DYNAMICS OF 1-IODOPROPANE, IODOCYCLOHEXANE AND IODOCYCLOPENTANE Submitted by Xuming ZHENG for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy at The University of Hong Kong in February 2000 Resonance Raman spectra of 1-X-2-iodoethane (X = Cl, Br, I), 1-iodopropane, iodocyclopentane in cyclohexane solution, and iodocyclohexane in acetonitrile solution have been obtained with excitation wavelengths within their A-band absorption. Vibrational (FT-Raman and FT-Infrared) spectroscopic investigations, ab initio calculations, and normal coordinate analyses were carried out to make vibrational assignments for the anti- and the gauche-1-X-2-iodoethane (X= Cl, Br, I) conformers and the axial- and the equatorial-iodocyclopentane conformers. Normal coordinate calculations were done for all the compounds studied in order to obtain normal-mode vectors. The resonance Raman intensities and A-band absorption spectra were simulated using a simple model and time-dependent wavepacket calculations. The simulation results and normal mode vectors were used to find the short-time photodissociation dynamics in terms of internal coordinate displacements. The A-band short-time photodissociation dynamics (at 10 fs) of 1-X-2-iodoethanes show interesting trends as the X halogen atom becomes larger. As the molecule changes from iodoethane to 1-chloro-2-iodoethane and finally to 1,2-diiodoethane, the C-I bond length changes generally proceed from a fairly long and narrow range for iodoethane to broader ranges and shorter bond length changes for 1,2-diiodoethane. A similar trend for the C-C bond length changes is also observed with a narrower to a broader range of displacements as the molecule changes from iodoethane to 1,2-diiodoethane. This suggests that as the haloethyl group becomes more ma.

Book The UV Laser Excited Resonance Raman Spectrum of the I3 Ion

Download or read book The UV Laser Excited Resonance Raman Spectrum of the I3 Ion written by W. Kiefer and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solutions of cesium tri-iodide and potassium iodide and iodine in water show a strong resonance Raman effect of the I3( - ) ion when excited by the ultraviolet lines at 3638 and 3511 A of an argon ion laser. High intensity overtone progressions of the 'symmetric' vibration v(1) were observed. This progression allows the confirmation of the presence of the I3( - ) ion in iodine--methanol solutions. Book Resonance Raman and Photophysical Studies of Transition Metal Complexes in Solution and Entrapped in Zeolites Progress Report August 1 1990 January 1993

Download or read book Resonance Raman and Photophysical Studies of Transition Metal Complexes in Solution and Entrapped in Zeolites Progress Report August 1 1990 January 1993 written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Area of most intense activity involves study of effects of entrapment of ruthenium(II)-polypyridyl complexes within the supercages of Y-zeolite. Results of initial studies document alterations in photophysical properties of entrapped complexes and provide insight into the factors responsible for these changes. A second major activity was to undertake an investigation of the feasibility of entrapment of metallophthalocyanines within the Y-zeolite supercages. Initial problems in preparative methodology used for these systems have been overcome and several systems have now been prepared and purified for projected photoredox studies. A third major objective was to develop and utilize a sound interpretive framework for resonance Raman (RR) and time-resolved RR (TR3) methods for investigating subtle perturbations in ground- and 3MLCT-state electronic structure which might be induced by substituent or environmentally-induced asymmetry, effects which could possibly lead to critical functional alterations.
