Download or read book RESOLUTION DES EQUATIONS D EULER POUR DES ECOULEMENTS NON LINEAIRES EN PRESENCE D UNE INTERFACE written by OLIVIER.. LAGET and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PLUSIEURS METHODES SONT DEVELOPPEES POUR RESOUDRE LES EQUATIONS D'EULER DANS LE CAS D'ECOULEMENTS INCOMPRESSIBLES EN PRESENCE D'UNE INTERFACE NON-LINEAIRE. UNE PREMIERE PARTIE, PLUS THEORIQUE, CONCERNE LE CALCUL DE LA FORME D'ONDES SOLITAIRES DE CAPILLARITE-GRAVITE APPARAISSANT A L'INTERFACE SEPARANT DEUX FLUIDES NON MISCIBLES. ON EN ETUDIE L'EXISTENCE ET LE COMPORTEMENT EN FONCTION DE DIFFERENTS NOMBRES ADIMENSIONNELS. L'ADJONCTION D'UNE CONDITION D'IRROTATIONNALITE PERMET DE RAMENER LES EQUATIONS D'EULER BIDIMENSIONNELLES A DES EQUATIONS INTEGRALES RESOLUES GRACE A LA METHODE DE NEWTON. L'EXISTENCE DE CERTAINS TYPES D'ONDES EST MISE EN EVIDENCE. LES RESULTATS NUMERIQUES SONT COMPARES A CEUX OBSERVES EXPERIMENTALEMENT OU A CEUX, ANALYTIQUES, FOURNIS PAR LES EQUATIONS DE KORTEWEG-DE VRIES OU DE SCHRODINGER. LA SECONDE PARTIE EST CONSACREE A L'ETUDE DE DEFORMATIONS D'INTERFACES OBSERVEES DANS UN CADRE INDUSTRIEL. LES EQUATIONS D'EULER SONT RESOLUES SANS HYPOTHESES RESTRICTIVES QUANT AU CALCUL D'ECOULEMENTS ROTATIONNELS GRACE A UNE METHODE DE PSEUDO-COMPRESSIBILITE. LE SUIVI DE LA SURFACE LIBRE EST ASSURE PAR LE COUPLAGE DE CETTE METHODE A DEUX ALGORITHMES CHOISIS EN FONCTION DES PHENOMENES A ETUDIER : VOLUME OF FLUID (V.O.F.) OU MAILLAGE ADAPTATIF. PLUSIEURS PROBLEMES SONT ABORDES : LE BALLOTTEMENT DE FLUIDE DANS UN RESERVOIR OU L'ON MET EN EVIDENCE UNE TRANSITION D'UNE ONDE STATIONNAIRE A UNE ONDE PROGRESSIVE. LA GENERATION, LA PROPAGATION ET L'ABSORPTION D'ONDES DE GRAVITE, AVEC LA MISE AU POINT DE DIFFERENTES CONDITIONS AUX LIMITES (BATTEUR, PLAGE ABSORBANTE NUMERIQUE, FRONTIERE OUVERTE). ON ETUDIE LE CHAMP DE VAGUES TRIDIMENSIONNEL ET INSTABLE (JETS ET DEFERLEMENT) PRODUIT PAR UN NAVIRE RAPIDE (RESISTANCE A L'AVANCEMENT). LES RESULTATS OBTENUS SONT EN BON ACCORD AVEC LES MESURES EXPERIMENTALES ET NUMERIQUES DISPONIBLES DANS LA LITTERATURE.

LA PREMIERE PARTIE CONCERNE LE PROBLEME D'EXISTENCE D'ECOULEMENTS STATIONNAIRES DES EQUATIONS D'EULER COMPRESSIBLES BAROTROPIQUES A TRAVERS UN DOMAINE BORNE. INTRODUISANT DE BONNES CONDITIONS A L'ENTREE ET A LA SORTIE, NOUS MONTRONS QU'IL EXISTE UNE SOLUTION VERIFIANT CES CONDITIONS ET QUE CETTE SOLUTION, CORRESPONDANT A UN ECOULEMENT SUBSONIQUE, EST LOCALEMENT UNIQUE DANS SA CLASSE DE REGULARITE. DANS LA DEUXIEME PARTIE, NOUS ETUDIONS LE COMPORTEMENT ASYMPTOTIQUE DES SOLUTIONS DE L'EQUATION DE KURAMOTO-SIVASHINSKY AVEC DES CONDITIONS PERIODIQUES AU BORD EN DIMENSION 2. NOUS MONTRONS QUE SI LA LARGEUR DU DOMAINE VERIFIE UNE CERTAINE ESTIMATION EN FONCTION DE LA LONGUEUR, CETTE EQUATION ADMET UN ENSEMBLE BORNE LOCALEMENT ABSORBANT QUE L'ON ESTIMERA AINSI QUE SON BASSIN D'ABSORPTION. LA TROISIEME PARTIE, COMPOSEE DES CHAPITRES 3 ET 4, EST CONSACREE A LA MODELISATION ET LA THEORIE MATHEMATIQUE DES ONDES HYDRODYNAMIQUES BI-DIMENSIONNELLES LORSQUE L'ON TIENT COMPTE DES EFFETS DE LA VISCOSITE. DANS UN PREMIER TEMPS, A L'AIDE DE LA THEORIE CLASSIQUES DES COUCHES LIMITES, ON MONTRE QUE, PARTANT DES EQUATIONS DE NAVIER-STOKES, ON PEUT FORMELLEMENT OBTENIR L'EQUATION DE K-P II COMPLETEE D'UN TERME NON LOCAL A LA FOIS DISPERSIF ET DISSIPATIF DANS LA DIRECTION PRINCIPALE DE PROPAGATION. DANS UN DEUXIEME TEMPS, ON ETUDIE LA DECROISSANTE EN TEMPS DES EQUATIONS DE KADOMTSEV-PETVIASHVILI GENERALISEE COMPLETEES D'UN TERME DE TYPE BURGERS DANS LA DIRECTION PRINCIPALE DE PROPAGATION. APRES AVOIR ETUDIE LE PROBLEME DE CAUCHY GLOBAL, ON MONTRE QUE LES TAUX DE DECROISSANCE EN CERTAINES NORMES DE LA SOLUTION DE CES EQUATIONS NON LINEAIRES SONT LES MEMES QUE CEUX EXHIBES PAR CELLE DE CES MEMES EQUATIONS LINEARISEES AUTOUR DE LA SOLUTION NULLE

Book Navier Stokes Equations

Download or read book Navier Stokes Equations written by Roger Temam and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2001-04-10 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1977, the book is devoted to the theory and numerical analysis of the Navier-Stokes equations for viscous incompressible fluid. On the theoretical side, results related to the existence, the uniqueness, and, in some cases, the regularity of solutions are presented. On the numerical side, various approaches to the approximation of Navier-Stokes problems by discretization are considered, such as the finite dereference method, the finite element method, and the fractional steps method. The problems of stability and convergence for numerical methods are treated as completely as possible. The new material in the present book (as compared to the preceding 1984 edition) is an appendix reproducing a survey article written in 1998. This appendix touches upon a few aspects not addressed in the earlier editions, in particular a short derivation of the Navier-Stokes equations from the basic conservation principles in continuum mechanics, further historical perspectives, and indications on new developments in the area. The appendix also surveys some aspects of the related Euler equations and the compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The book is written in the style of a textbook and the author has attempted to make the treatment self-contained. It can be used as a textbook or a reference book for researchers. Prerequisites for reading the book include some familiarity with the Navier-Stokes equations and some knowledge of functional analysis and Sololev spaces.

Book Finite Volumes for Complex Applications IX Methods Theoretical Aspects Examples

Download or read book Finite Volumes for Complex Applications IX Methods Theoretical Aspects Examples written by Robert Klöfkorn and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-06-09 with total page 727 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proceedings of the 9th conference on "Finite Volumes for Complex Applications" (Bergen, June 2020) are structured in two volumes. The first volume collects the focused invited papers, as well as the reviewed contributions from internationally leading researchers in the field of analysis of finite volume and related methods. Topics covered include convergence and stability analysis, as well as investigations of these methods from the point of view of compatibility with physical principles. Altogether, a rather comprehensive overview is given on the state of the art in the field. The properties of the methods considered in the conference give them distinguished advantages for a number of applications. These include fluid dynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, structural analysis, nuclear physics, semiconductor theory, carbon capture utilization and storage, geothermal energy and further topics. The second volume covers reviewed contributions reporting successful applications of finite volume and related methods in these fields. The finite volume method in its various forms is a space discretization technique for partial differential equations based on the fundamental physical principle of conservation. Many finite volume methods preserve further qualitative or asymptotic properties, including maximum principles, dissipativity, monotone decay of free energy, and asymptotic stability, making the finite volume methods compatible discretization methods, which preserve qualitative properties of continuous problems at the discrete level. This structural approach to the discretization of partial differential equations becomes particularly important for multiphysics and multiscale applications. The book is a valuable resource for researchers, PhD and master’s level students in numerical analysis, scientific computing and related fields such as partial differential equations, as well as engineers working in numerical modeling and simulations.

Book Water Waves The Mathematical Theory with Applications

Download or read book Water Waves The Mathematical Theory with Applications written by James Johnston Stoker and published by Courier Dover Publications. This book was released on 2019-04-17 with total page 593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1957, this is a classic monograph in the area of applied mathematics. It offers a connected account of the mathematical theory of wave motion in a liquid with a free surface and subjected to gravitational and other forces, together with applications to a wide variety of concrete physical problems. A never-surpassed text, it remains of permanent value to a wide range of scientists and engineers concerned with problems in fluid mechanics. The four-part treatment begins with a presentation of the derivation of the basic hydrodynamic theory for non-viscous incompressible fluids and a description of the two principal approximate theories that form the basis for the rest of the book. The second section centers on the approximate theory that results from small-amplitude wave motions. A consideration of problems involving waves in shallow water follows, and the text concludes with a selection of problems solved in terms of the exact theory. Despite the diversity of its topics, this text offers a unified, readable, and largely self-contained treatment.

  • Pages : 105 pages

Download or read book Active Subspaces written by Paul G. Constantine and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2015-03-17 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientists and engineers use computer simulations to study relationships between a model's input parameters and its outputs. However, thorough parameter studies are challenging, if not impossible, when the simulation is expensive and the model has several inputs. To enable studies in these instances, the engineer may attempt to reduce the dimension of the model's input parameter space. Active subspaces are an emerging set of dimension reduction tools that identify important directions in the parameter space. This book describes techniques for discovering a model's active subspace and proposes methods for exploiting the reduced dimension to enable otherwise infeasible parameter studies. Readers will find new ideas for dimension reduction, easy-to-implement algorithms, and several examples of active subspaces in action.

Book Vortex Flows and Related Numerical Methods

Download or read book Vortex Flows and Related Numerical Methods written by J.T. Beale and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-18 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many important phenomena in fluid motion are evident in vortex flow, i.e., flows in which vortical structures are significant in determining the whole flow. This book, which consists of lectures given at a NATO ARW held in Grenoble (France) in June 1992, provides an up-to-date account of current research in the study of these phenomena by means of numerical methods and mathematical modelling. Such methods include Eulerian methods (finite difference, spectral and wavelet methods) as well as Lagrangian methods (contour dynamics, vortex methods) and are used to study such topics as 2- or 3-dimensional turbulence, vorticity generation by solid bodies, shear layers and vortex sheets, and vortex reconnection. For researchers and graduate students in computational fluid dynamics, numerical analysis, and applied mathematics.
