Download or read book Reproduction on the Reservation written by Brianna Theobald and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2019-08-20 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This pathbreaking book documents the transformation of reproductive practices and politics on Indian reservations from the late nineteenth century to the present, integrating a localized history of childbearing, motherhood, and activism on the Crow Reservation in Montana with an analysis of trends affecting Indigenous women more broadly. As Brianna Theobald illustrates, the federal government and local authorities have long sought to control Indigenous families and women's reproduction, using tactics such as coercive sterilization and removal of Indigenous children into the white foster care system. But Theobald examines women's resistance, showing how they have worked within families, tribal networks, and activist groups to confront these issues. Blending local and intimate family histories with the histories of broader movements such as WARN (Women of All Red Nations), Theobald links the federal government's intrusion into Indigenous women's reproductive and familial decisions to the wider history of eugenics and the reproductive rights movement. She argues convincingly that colonial politics have always been--and remain--reproductive politics. By looking deeply at one tribal nation over more than a century, Theobald offers an especially rich analysis of how Indigenous women experienced pregnancy and motherhood under evolving federal Indian policy. At the heart of this history are the Crow women who displayed creativity and fortitude in struggling for reproductive self-determination.

Download or read book What Is The Reservation Selling Phenomenon How Reservation Selling Became A Phenomenon How Reservation Selling Has Changed People s Lives And How To Earn Revenue As A Reservation Seller written by Dr. Harrison Sachs and published by The Epic Books Of Dr. Harrison Sachs. This book was released on 2024-05-11 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This essay sheds light on what is the reservation selling phenomenon, explicates how reservation selling became a phenomenon, demystifies how reservation selling has changed people’s lives, and expounds upon how to earn revenue as a reservation seller. The reservation selling phenomenon is a phenomenon that entails reservations being sold on a secondary market. The reservation selling phenomenon is a phenomenon that has emerged in the 21st century with the advent of the Appointment Trader platform in 2021. As of May of 2024, the Appointment Trader platform has rendered it possible for sellers to sell restaurant reservations, hotel reservations, spa reservations, and theme park reservations to buyers. It can be cumbersome to procure a reservation at a popular luxury restaurant for a date in the imminent future that you desire to eat out at the restaurant on. It can also be arduous to procure a reservation at a popular luxury hotel for a date in the imminent future that you desire to lodge at the hotel on. It can also be difficult to procure a reservation at a popular luxury spa for a date in the imminent future that you desire to receive a spa massage on. As of May of 2024, it is possible for a person to procure restaurant reservations, hotel reservations, and spa reservations in the imminent future with extreme ease as long he is amenable to paying an exorbitant premium price for them on a secondary market for reservations. If a person does not acquiesce to paying exorbitant premium prices for reservations at popular luxury restaurants, popular luxury hotels, and popular luxury spas, then he will either be added to a reservation waiting list when he attempts to book a reservation at a popular luxury restaurant, popular luxury hotel, or popular luxury spa or will alternatively not have the option to be added to a reservation waiting list. In the event that a person manages to be added to a reservation waiting list, there however is no guarantee that it will culminate in him being furnished with a reservation at a popular luxury restaurant, popular luxury hotel, or popular luxury spa sometime in the coming months. In contexts in which a popular luxury restaurant, popular luxury hotel, and popular luxury spa lacks a reservation waiting list, then the customer will need to frequently call the business to ascertain if a reservation was canceled in an attempt to to book a reservation at a popular luxury restaurant, popular luxury hotel, or popular luxury spa. It can be a highly time-consuming and eminently tedious process to frequently call a popular luxury restaurant, popular luxury hotel, or popular luxury spa for the prospect of booking a reservation at a popular luxury restaurant, popular luxury hotel, or popular luxury spa. The inception of the reservation selling phenomenon was contemporaneous with the genesis of the secondary market for reservations. The incipience of the secondary market for reservations has proven that buyers are amenable to paying exorbitant premium prices for reservations at popular luxury restaurants, popular luxury hotels, and popular luxury spas. Buyers are amenable to paying exorbitant premium prices for reservations at popular luxury restaurants, popular luxury hotels, and popular luxury spas since it can be arduous for them to be furnished with reservations at popular luxury restaurants, popular luxury hotels, and popular luxury spas for free for a date in the imminent future. It is an inconvenience for buyers to attempt to book reservations at popular luxury restaurants, popular luxury hotels, and popular luxury spas for a date in the imminent future. As of May of 2024, in certain contexts, certain popular luxury restaurants, for instance, may be booked out for over a year. The demand for free reservations at popular luxury restaurants, popular luxury hotels, and popular luxury spas for a date in the imminent future is significantly greater than the supply of free reservations at popular luxury restaurants, popular luxury hotels, and popular luxury spas for a date in the imminent future. Because the demand for free reservations at popular luxury restaurants, popular luxury hotels, and popular luxury spas for a date in the imminent future is significantly greater than the supply of free reservations at popular luxury restaurants, popular luxury hotels, and popular luxury spas for a date in the imminent future, a secondary market for reservation was able to be brought to fruition.

Download or read book A Reservation Undiminished written by Todd Adams and published by University of Oklahoma Press. This book was released on 2024-11-26 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It took more than one hundred years for federal, state, and local governments to recognize the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe’s claim to its Isabella Reservation in central Michigan. This book tells the story of how the tribe persevered and eventually succeeded in having the reservation recognized. It is the story of widespread fraud and oppression perpetrated by non–Native Americans seeking to clearcut the rich Chippewa forest for quick profits, despite the federal government’s solemn promises of protection made to the Saginaw Chippewa nation in treaties. In its account of the legal battle over the Isabella Reservation, A Reservation Undiminished explores what Native sovereignty actually means. The authors, three key participants in the case, give an inside view of the case and its historical context. When it began to take shape in 2005, lawyers for five different jurisdictions hired historians and anthropologists to evaluate the Saginaws’ claim and serve as expert witnesses. Two of those historians, Gary C. Anderson and R. David Edmunds, reveal the importance of archival research in demonstrating governments’ continual references to the Saginaw Chippewas’ reservation long after 1875, when the state claimed it ceased to exist. Attorney Todd Adams, who represented the state of Michigan in the case, explores what happened after the state settled with the Saginaw in 2010. He recounts the unlikely collaboration of all parties in resolving the conflict. A Reservation Undiminished presents a cohesive narrative of a legal case that testifies to Native persistence in asserting territorial sovereignty in the twenty-first century—and that highlights the potential for conflict resolution in seemingly intractable legal struggles between state, local, and tribal governments.
