Book ULTRASONIC DELAY LINE DEVELOPMENT

Download or read book ULTRASONIC DELAY LINE DEVELOPMENT written by L. LAMBERT and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress on ultrasonic delay line research is discussed. The results of a continued study of lead as a bonding and backing material for ultrasonic delay lines are presented. The tripletravel response level was reduced below the level of spurious responses due to diffraction for a majority of delay line applications. The results of an investigation of the diffraction field, in a solid medium, of an ultrasonic transducer are presented. The experimental results indicated that the assumptions made in the mathematical description of acoustic diffraction phenomena are valid. Design techniques for polygonal delay lines are discussed in terms of spurious response levels. A theoretical analysis, based on Fresnel diffraction theory, is presented, which results in the determination of the optimum transducer length for minimum spurious response level. (Author).

Book Advanced Radar Resolution Techniques Research on Ultrasonic Delay Lines

Download or read book Advanced Radar Resolution Techniques Research on Ultrasonic Delay Lines written by COLUMBIA UNIV NEW YORK ELECTRONICS RESEARCH LABS. and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress on the ultrasonic delay line research task is presented. An extension of the evaporation bonding technique with indium to include the application of indium backings is described. Experimental results obtained for the bandwidth and reflection coefficient of an AC cut quartz transducer and a delay medium of fused quartz are compared to theory. The initial results obtained using lead as a bonding and backing material are described. Techniques employed to bond with lead and the initial experimental results obtained are presented, and a significant improvement over the results achieved with indium is indicated. Theoretical results indicate further improvement when the bonding techniques used for lead are refined. Results of an investigation of the diffraction effects due to a rectangular transducer are presented. An experimental apparatus used to measure diffraction effects with a dynamic range in excess of 50 db is described. Results of a series of measurements on a bonded transducer indicate the transducer vibrates with essentially constant amplitude, with minor variations due to the bonding process. (Author).

Book Development of Microwave Ultrasonic Delay Lines

Download or read book Development of Microwave Ultrasonic Delay Lines written by F. A. Olson and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents the theory, design and performance of microwave ultrasonic delay lines, and the results of investigations of related ultrasonic topics. The design considerations include specification and processing of delay materials, development of microwave ultrasonic thin-film transducers, studies of acoustic wave propagation, development of microwave networks for coupling to ultrasonic transducers, and design of delay line packages. Investigations are also reported of spurious suppression means and of power capability for ultrasonic delay lines. Prototype microwave ultrasonic delay lines were developed and delivered to specifications in the 500 to 2000 MHz frequency range with less than 36 db insertion loss over nominal 10 percent bandwidth, delay values from 0.3 to 3 microseconds, greater than 1 milliwatt output power, and spurious signals at least 20 db below the desired signal. The delay line packages are of shielded stripline construction, with a nominal volume of 1 cubic inch and weight of 6 ounces, suitable for operation over a large range of environmental conditions. Data on 12 delivered delay devices are reported, together with conclusions on the performance capabilities and limitations of microwave ultrasonic delay lines. (Author).
