Book Research in Theoretical High energy Physics

Download or read book Research in Theoretical High energy Physics written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress on problems in quantum gravity and QCD, made during the period 9/92--9/93, and proposed research for the coming year, are summarized. Over the last year the author has proposed a dynamic mechanism underlying the observed Lorentzian signature of spacetime, and also a new quantization scheme for gravity, based on a transfer matrix approach. This transfer matrix formulation is not only a possible solution for the well-known {open_quotes}problem of time{close_quotes} in quantum gravity, but also predicts that Newton's constant is not really a constant -- it should be subject to quantum fluctuations. In addition, together with two European collaborators, the author has done some further work on the abelian projection model of quark confinement. This work in quantum gravity and QCD has been reported in various publications, and the author briefly describes each of these investigations.

This book was released on 1996 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The high energy physics research program at the University of Hawaii is directed toward the study of the properties of the elementary particles and the application of the results of these studies to the understanding of the physical world. Experiments using high energy accelerators are aimed at searching for new particles, testing current theories, and measuring properties of the known particles. Experiments using cosmic rays address particle physics and astrophysical issues. Theoretical physics research evaluates experimental results in the context of existing theories and projects the experimental consequences of proposed new theories.
