In discussing the facets of the working out of salvation -- the role of the Spirit, union with Christ, the gospel call, regeneration, conversion, repentance, and so on -- Hoekema does away with the classical ordo salutis ("order of salvation") by viewing these facets largely as simultaneous aspects in the process of salvation rather than sequential steps on the way to salvation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If we look closely at the people God used in the Old Testament, we will notice that many of them failed God at some point. They messed up badly, and God still used them. Even in the New Testament, there are people who messed up, and God used them to build His kingdom and church. God has used and will continue to use aEURoemessed-up people,aEUR and many such are found in the genealogy of Jesus and also referenced in Hebrews 11, who were broken and really messed up. The Bible is filled with stories of people that have struggled, stumbled, and simply failed God. God stopped Saul (Paul) on the road to Damascus, and his life would be changed and transformed forever. Paul easily became the greatest apostle of all time. In scriptures, there are so many other persons whom God used, even though they were broken. People like Moses, David, Solomon, and Rahab show us how God is still willing to use us after we have messed up. No matter what broken state weaEUR(tm)re in, we are never beyond GodaEUR(tm)s reach. We are never so far gone that God canaEUR(tm)t make us effective for His purposes. It is us as human beings who judge each other by our own personal standards and write people off as being unacceptable. I messed up badly during my ministry, but I am convinced that God still has a purpose for me and wants to continue to use me in ministry. He has already been demonstrating this to me in a clear, strong, and meaningful way When we are broken or feel that we have messed up, that is not the time to worry about what others may do or say since other humans can make us feel worse. Equally, it is not the time to give up and turn away from God. Rather, it is the time to draw nearer to God. That is when we should seek God all the more for direction, clarity, help, and strength. ItaEUR(tm)s the time when we should, like David, ask God to create a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us and restore us into the joy of His salvation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fourteen sermons contained in Saved By Grace Alone were preached in Westminster Chapel, London, on Sunday evenings between 15 April and 15 July 1956. They are a fine example of preaching evangelistically from a consecutive passage of the Old Testament. While they are firmly based on the meaning of the Scripture text in its original setting, they are not overloaded with historical or exegetical detail. The larger themes of Ezekiel's message to the people of his own day are kept prominently in view.

Book excerpt: On a raid in the Sunni hotbed of the Al Anbar province during the most violent and chaotic phase of the war on terror, Lieutenant Ilario Pantano shot and killed two Iraqi insurgents. Months later, one of his own men disputed Pantano's self-defense claim in the Al Anbar shootings. Pantano was relieved of his command and charged with premeditated murder, a crime punishable by death. This is Pantano's gripping story in his own words -- the story of a patriot who left behind his wife and children to fight for their future; the harrowing account of a military hearing that sparked a national "Defend the Defenders" campaign; and the inspiring choices of an unconventional warrior who continues to call on his fellow Americans to stand strong in the face of our enemies.

Book excerpt: Essentials of the Christian Faith, Seven Steps to Abundant Life, is a recommended but optional introduction developed by Dr. Morehouse and his experienced team to their longer three-part group study course in The Joy of Christian Discipleship Series. Essentials may stand alone or be used by a ministry group as a 7-week review or introduction the full discipleship series, which is comprised three 70-page study guides. Each of the guides covers a Stage in the discipleship of a committed Christian believer, starting with 3 steps of conversion to faith in the first, followed by 3 steps of growth in discernment and maturity in the second, and finishing off with significant study of how to carry out the Great Commission in the third. The workbooks have been designed to serve as study guides for small (2-12 member) ministry-sponsored discipleship groups meeting weekly for 36 weeks (or every other week for 18 longer sessions) over ten-months, commonly from September through June, allowing time for nine full months of meetings with breaks during holiday seasons. New small groups may gather and start at any time, however, with leaders who have already gone through this or similar material themselves. Each guide is divided into twelve 4-page studies (1 per week or 2 every other week) containing four studies on each of the three steps in the first two booklets and four studies on each of the three ways of carrying out the Great Commission: Word, Deed, and Power in the third.

Book Saved by Grace from Voodoo to Gospel

Download or read book Saved by Grace from Voodoo to Gospel written by Fredo Saint Charles and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2012-10-01 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was for him a real delivery, a true liberation that lived in his skin, soul and mind. Along the way, author Fredo Saint Charles destroyed quite a lot of myths that make of the life of the Vaudouisant a living hell, but some have followed new Christians into the teaching and practice of Christianity. This small book serves to free the Vaudouisants of the fear that some Christians continue to carry in spite of their renouncement of voodoo. Many still carry old beliefs within themselves that make of their life a daily moral torment. Dr. Saint Charles hopes that the reading of this book will transform readers and allow them to be optimistic and free of the illogical fears that have bound them so long. That Christian will then be better able to contribute and spread happiness and joy while waiting for entrance into the final Paradise. LOOK FOR THE FRENCH AND SPANISH VERSIONS SOON!
