Book Deep Crustal Seismic Reflection Profiling

Download or read book Deep Crustal Seismic Reflection Profiling written by B.L.N. Kennett and published by ANU Press and Geoscience Australia. This book was released on 2016-11-04 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deep Crustal Seismic Reflection Profiling: Australia 1978–2015 presents the full suite of reflection profiles penetrating the whole crust carried in Australia by Geoscience Australia and various partners. The set of reflection data comprises over 16,000 km of coverage across the whole continent, and provides an insight into the variations in crustal architecture in the varied geological domains. Each reflection profile is presented at approximately true scale with up to 220 km of profile per page and overlap between pages. Each reflection section is accompanied by a geological strip map showing the configuration of the line superimposed on 1:1M geology. The compilation includes a suite of large-scale reflection transects groups of 1,000 km or more that link across major geological provinces, and an extensive bibliography of reports and relevant publications.

Book Seismic Reflection Processing

Download or read book Seismic Reflection Processing written by S.K. Upadhyay and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seismic Reflection Processing coherently presents the physical concepts, mathematical details and methodology for optimizing results of reservoir modelling, under conditions of isotropy and anisotropy. The most common form of anisotropy - transverse isotropy - is dealt with in detail. Besides, practical aspects in reservoir engineering - such as interval isotropic or anisotropic properties of layered media; identifying lithology, pore-fluid types and saturation; and determining crack/fracture-orientations and density - form the core of discussions. This book incorporates significant new developments in isotropic and anisotropic reflection processing, while organizing them to improve the interpretation of seismic reflection data and optimizing the modeling of hydrocarbon reservoirs. It is written primarily as a reference and tutorial for graduate/postgraduate students and research workers in geophysics.

Book Reprocessing of 3C 2D Seismic Reflection Data from the Spring Coulee Field Alberta

Download or read book Reprocessing of 3C 2D Seismic Reflection Data from the Spring Coulee Field Alberta written by Yasin Demir and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The 3C-2D seismic datasets were acquired in 2008 in the Spring Coulee Field, Alberta, which is located in Township 4, Range 23, and west of the 4th Meridian in the Alberta Basin. Line 2008-SC-01 was reprocessed to obtain better image of the formation targeted at between 1300 ms and 1400 ms. The depositional settings of the Madison Formation consist of shallow and carbonate shelf deposits. The processing workflow was designed by testing several methods, algorithms, and parameters, and finding the optimal processing solution. The processing steps included elevation statics, noise suppression, deconvolution operator, and 2D Kirchhoff poststack time migration. In order to obtain the high quality seismic section, noise suppressing is important for this study because data include high ground rolls and air blast noises. Therefore, the recorded effects of ground roll and air blast were suppressed using suppress module, F-K, and bandpass filters. The final seismic section provides a high quality imaging of the subsurface. Combining the results of the reprocessed seismic data with well data from the same area allows for seismic interpretation and hydrocarbon exploration"--Abstract, page iii.

Book Reprocessing and Structural Interpretation of Multichannel Seismic Reflection Data from Penobscot Nova Scotia

Download or read book Reprocessing and Structural Interpretation of Multichannel Seismic Reflection Data from Penobscot Nova Scotia written by Fulya Gizem Yagci and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Penobscot area is located in the Scotian Basin, which was occurred as a result of extension in the eastern North America border. 2-D data set that was utilized for the study consists of three multichannel seismic profiles that were collected from Penobscot Parcel 8. The main purpose of the study was to enhance signal-to-noise ratio of the seismic reflection sections suppressing high frequency noise and multiples, and removing diffractions. In addition, while the resolution of the sections were enhanced, determining the correct processing techniques and parameters for better results was the another important criteria. The processing steps included deconvolution, minimum phase filter, velocity analysis, NMO correction, stacking, Stolt and Gazdag migrations, band-pass and slope filters, and muting. The resolution of the seismic sections was increased using pre-stack spiking deconvolution and PEF techniques. The low amplitude problem at the sea bottom reflections were recovered using the Butterworth minimum phase filter. Random noise were eliminated using band-pass and f-k dip filter. Stolt and Gazdag migrations were compared. Because Gazdag migration collapsed the diffractions at the shallow and deeper parts of the seismic sections at the same time and provided a better resolution for long dipping geological structures, the results of Gazdag were utilized for structural interpretation"--Abstract, page iii.
