This book was released on 2017-09-23 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (EESA) authorized the creation of TARP to address the most severe crisis that the financial system had faced in decades. Treasury has been the primary agency responsible for TARP programs. EESA provided GAO with broad oversight authorities for actions taken under TARP and included a provision that GAO report at least every 60 days on TARP activities and performance. This 60-day report describes the status of GAO's prior TARP performance audit recommendations to Treasury as of August 2016. In particular, this report discusses Treasury's implementation of GAO's recommendations focusing on two programs: CPP and MHA. GAO's methodologies included assessing relevant documentation from Treasury, interviewing Treasury officials, and reviewing prior TARP reports issued by GAO.

Book 700 Billion Bailout

Download or read book 700 Billion Bailout written by Paul Muolo and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-12-10 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is an analysis of the controversial Emergency Economic Stabilization Act and explains in easy to understand language what the bailout bill means for individuals. $700 Billion Bailout answers questions such as: What does the bill say, exactly? Who is making decisions about how the $700 billion will be spent, and what does it mean now that the government is investing directly in our banks? Who’s footing the bill? What is the impact on homeowners, businesses, retirement, and taxes? Where do I put my money in the meantime? Veteran reporter Paul Muolo shows both the challenges and opportunities of the credit crisis and proposed bailout, including its impact on: Mortgages: While rates may be lower, there will be more fees imposed on mortgages. Lenders will be far more cautious in lending, and people who cannot meet their mortgages are likely to lose these homes. This may create a “contrarian” plays in foreclosures and vacation homes.. Stocks and Other Investments: Is now the time to get into the stock market or is it safer to stick with CDs, bonds, and gold? Taxes: With the tax breaks, there will be less tax revenue leading to a huge shortfall to the government over the next few years. He will offer insight into these areas and many others, including how the structure of the bailout bill allows for unprecedented authority that has altered the financial landscape, perhaps permanently. Will the plan work, and how we can prevent this from happening again remains to be seen, but with $700 Billion Bailout Paul Muolo gives us a critical tool for deciphering perhaps the most sweeping piece of legislation since the Patriot Act.

This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2008, the Emerg. Econ. Stabilization Act was signed into law. It mandates a study on mark-to-market accounting standards as provided by Financial Accounting Standards Board Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No. 157, Fair Value Measure. (SFAS 157). SFAS 157 does not itself require mark-to-market or fair value (FV) accounting. SFAS 157 defines FV, estab. a framework for measuring FV in generally accepted accounting principles, and requires expanded disclosures about FV measurements. This report considered the issue of FV accounting, incl. both mark-to-market accounting and SFAS 157.

Book Financial Audit

Download or read book Financial Audit written by Gary T. Engel and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2010-06 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (EESA) authorized the Secretary of the Treasury to implement the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and established the Office of Financial Stability (OFS) within the Department of the Treasury to do so. EESA requires the annual preparation of financial statements for TARP, and further requires an audit of these statements. The audit of OFS¿s fiscal year 2009 financial statements for TARP determined whether, in all material respects: (1) the financial statements were fairly stated; and (2) OFS management maintained effective internal control over financial reporting. The auditor also tested OFS¿s compliance with selected provisions of laws and regulations. Charts and tables.
