Book Handbook on Satellite Communications

Download or read book Handbook on Satellite Communications written by International Telecommunications Union and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2002-04-04 with total page 1123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An essential overview of satellite communications from the organization that sets the international standards Since their introduction in the mid-1960s, satellite communications have grown from a futuristic experiment into an integral part of today's "wired world." Satellite communications are at the core of a global, automatically switched telephony network. Assembled by the International Telecommunication Union--the international organization that sets the standards for this rapidly growing industry--the Handbook on Satellite Communications, Third Edition brings together basic facts about satellite communications as related to the fixed-satellite service (FSS). It covers the main principles, technologies, and operation of equipment in a tutorial form. Updated to include the latest technologies and information, the Third Edition provides both the standards and technical information needed to implement and interact with satellite communication systems, including: * The components and basic characteristics of a satellite communication system * Regulatory considerations and system planning * SDH and ATM satellite transmissions * Analog and digital baseband signal processing and multiplexing * Carrier modulation techniques * Geostationary and non-geostationary systems * Interconnection of satellite and terrestrial networks * LEOS satellite networks and other recent developments As digital modulation and transmission replace analog techniques, and as satellites in non-geostationary and lower-altitude orbits open the way to new applications, satellite communications will continue to grow in use and importance. Everyone involved in the administration and operation of satellite communications will find this a crucial resource.

Book Fundamentals of International Aviation Law and Policy

Download or read book Fundamentals of International Aviation Law and Policy written by Benjamyn I. Scott and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-09-11 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of International Aviation Law and Policy offers students a systematic, tailored and dynamic approach to understanding the legal scenario concerning international civil aviation. The book covers the major areas of international aviation law and provides an introduction to the multifaceted international regulation of aviation activities in the sphere of public and private law. The book is designed to provide the reader with the fundamental notions concerning international aviation law. It adopts an interactive approach, which aims at engaging the reader by way of using learning tools. The main areas of public and private aviation law are dealt with from a regulatory and practical perspective, and include detailed analyses of existing and applicable legislations, as well as landmark court cases and decisions. Each chapter is tailored to confer to readers a thorough knowledge of the applicable international and, if any, the European legislation. Delivery of these aims is attained through a clear and balanced use of didactic instruments and immediate information. New chapters cover aircraft financing and advanced air mobility, giving this second edition of Fundamentals of International Aviation Law and Policy even greater coverage and depth. The book is intended for a varied audience of students and professionals involved in the aviation world, without requiring the possession of specific legal knowledge or background. It also constitutes a useful reference material for those who are familiar with legal terminology and aviation specifics.

Book Exclusive Use in an Inclusive Environment

Download or read book Exclusive Use in an Inclusive Environment written by Philip De Man and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-25 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to find a workable interpretation of the non-appropriation principle that is compatible with both the existing international space law framework and the move of the private space industry towards the mining of asteroids and other celestial bodies. It does so by analysing the rules on the use of orbits as limited natural resources as a concrete indication of how space resources can be exploited by one user while respecting the non-appropriation principle and the interests of other users in space. This analysis is complemented by a thorough review of the meaning of property rights in the context of the existing international space law regime. This allows the author to distinguish between the lawful exploitation and unlawful appropriation of resources in a manner that could pave the way for a workable asteroid mining regime that takes into account the needs of individual companies and the international community. Exclusive use in an inclusive environment frames the legal regime of the exploitation of natural resources in outer space as the most pressing example to date of the tension that arises between the rights of a single spacefaring actor and the interests of the broader international community. Though academic in its approach in dealing with one of the most fundamental issues of space law to date, the book has very practical ambitions. By offering a pragmatic interpretation of the space law principles that are likely to remain the legal foundations of asteroid mining for the foreseeable future, Exclusive use in an inclusive environment hopes to inform academics, practitioners and policymakers alike in their future attempts at working out a fair, equitable and effective management regime for the exploitation of natural resources in outer space.

Book Outlook on Space Law Over the Next 30 Years

Download or read book Outlook on Space Law Over the Next 30 Years written by Gabriel Lafferranderie and published by Martinus Nijhoff Publishers. This book was released on 1997-03-20 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is neither a historical treatise on the genesis and development of space law, nor a survey of the corpus, nor even a work of legal makebelieve, but simply an essay pursuing a line of enquiry opened up by the members of the European Centre for Space Law. It sets out to chart future trends in the light of the emergence of space law as a branch of international law and of the development of space activities themselves (new activities, new players, interpenetration of space law and national laws), a branch in which the rules and forms of international cooperation acquire a new dimension, transcending the concept of 'global' law. It is essentially prompted by a deep aspiration to see a rebirth - a revival - of that law.
