Book The Democratic Plan Analysis and Diagnosis

Download or read book The Democratic Plan Analysis and Diagnosis written by Alan March and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-16 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite ongoing technical and professional advances, urban and regional planning is often far less effective than we might hope. Conflicting approaches and variable governmental settings have undermined planning’s legitimacy and allowed its goals to be eroded and co-opted in the face of mounting challenges. Deeper organising principles for self-understanding, action and productive critique are lacking. This book takes steps toward resolving these problems by providing a clear theoretical position to practically examine urban planning systems within democratic governance settings: the basis of planning’s legitimacy and action. Joining practical planning with political science perspectives and the work of critical theorists such as Jürgen Habermas, it directly examines urban planning as a process of governance. The dilemmas inherent to democracy are used as key organising principles and challenges for planning. Collective knowledge development and steering processes are examined as the core purposes of urban planning. Communicative planning’s grounding in the work of Habermas is revisited to develop practical ways of examining overall planning systems. This theoretical approach can be adapted to a range of planning systems and settings beyond those examined in the book, such as corporate or political realms. It is one of only a few analyses that bring together theoretical understandings and grounded and practical analyses of an Australian planning system. Conceptual and highly practical explanations of how and why the Victorian system does and doesn't ’work’ are revealed. The book demonstrates how specific placed-based understandings, and meaningful comparison between planning systems, can be made using critical theory to suggest positive change.

Book Chloroprene Production from Butadiene Cost Analysis Chloroprene E11A

Download or read book Chloroprene Production from Butadiene Cost Analysis Chloroprene E11A written by Intratec and published by Intratec Solutions. This book was released on 2019-09-17 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents a cost analysis of chloroprene production from butadiene and chlorine. The process examined is a typical vapor phase butadiene chlorination process. In this process butadiene is first chlorinated producing two chlorinated isomers, 1,4-dichloro 2-butene and 3,4-dichloro 1-butene. In a second step, 1,4-isomers are isomerized to 3,4-dichloro 1-butene. This chemical is then dehydrochlorinated in the presence of caustic soda producing chloroprene and sodium chloride. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Dupont, Chloroprene Rubber, Neoprene, Chlorination

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents a cost analysis of Crude Isophthalic Acid production from m-xylene. The process examined is a typical oxidation process. In this process, p-xylene is oxidized to Isophthalic Acid. The Isophthalic Acid is then separated from the solvent as a Crude Isophthalic Acid (CIA). No further process for purification via hydrogenation is included in this process. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Unsaturated Polyester, UPR, Phthalic Acid, Meta-Xylene, CIA

Book Butyraldehyde Production from Propylene and Syngas Cost Analysis Butyraldehyde E21A

Download or read book Butyraldehyde Production from Propylene and Syngas Cost Analysis Butyraldehyde E21A written by Intratec and published by Intratec. This book was released on 2019-09-17 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents a cost analysis of n-Butyraldehyde production from propylene and syngas. The process examined is similar to the LP OXO technology jointly developed by JM Davy and Union Carbide, employing Selector 10 catalyst. In this process, the production ratio of n- to iso-butyraldehyde in the oxo reaction is about 10. The n-Butyraldehyde is separated as the final product and the isobutyraldehyde is obtained as a by-product. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Oxo Synthesis, Butanal, Synthesis Gas, H2, CO, Hydrogen, Carbon Monoxide, Johnson Matthey, Dow, LP Oxo, SELECTOR

Book Analysis of the Navy s Fiscal Year 2012 Shipbuilding Plan

Download or read book Analysis of the Navy s Fiscal Year 2012 Shipbuilding Plan written by Eric J. Labs and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2011 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an independent analysis of the Navy's latest shipbuilding plan. This study summarizes the ship inventory goals and purchases described in the Navy's FY 2012 plan and assesses their implications for the Navy's funding needs and ship inventories through 2041. The Navy currently envisions buying a total of 275 ships during the next 30 years at an average annual cost of nearly $16 billion (in 2011 dollars) for new construction alone or a little more than $17 billion for total shipbuilding. By comparison, this report estimates that the cost of the Navy¿s plan will average $18 billion per year for new construction or $20 billion per year for total shipbuilding. Charts and tables. This is a print on demand report.

Book An Analysis of the Navy s Fiscal Year 2011 Shipbuilding Plan

Download or read book An Analysis of the Navy s Fiscal Year 2011 Shipbuilding Plan written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Navy is required by law to submit a report to the Congress each year that projects the service's shipbuilding requirements, procurement plans, inventories, and costs over the coming 30 years. Since 2006, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has been performing an independent analysis of the Navy's latest shipbuilding plan at the request of the Subcommittee on Seapower and Expeditionary Forces of the House Armed Services Committee. This CBO report, the latest in that series, summarizes the ship requirements and purchases described in the Navy's 2011 plan and assesses their implications for the Navy's funding needs and ship inventories through 2040. The new plan appears to increase the required size of the fleet compared with earlier plans, while reducing the number of ships to be purchased, and thus the costs for ship construction, over the next three decades. Despite those reductions, the total costs of carrying out the 2011 plan would be much higher than the funding levels that the Navy has received in recent years.
