Here, Goran Miljan examines and analyzes for the first time the ideology, practices, and international connections of the Ustasha Youth organization. The Ustasha Youth was an all-embracing fascist youth organization, established in July 1941 by the `Independent State of Croatia' with the goal of reeducating young people in the model of an ideal `new' Croat. This youth organization attempted to set in motion an all-embracing, totalitarian national revolution which in reality consisted of specific interconnected, mutually dependent practices: prosecution, oppression, mass murder, and the Holocaust - all of which were officially legalized within a month of the regime's accession to power. To this end education, sport, manual work and camping took place in specially established Ustasha Youth Schools. In order to justify their radical policies of youth reeducation, the Ustasha Youth, besides emphasizing national character and the importance of cultural and national purity, also engaged in transnational activities and exchanges, especially with the Hlinkova mladez [Hlinka Youth] of the Slovak Republic. Both youth organizations were closely modelled after the youth organizations in Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. This is a little studied part of the history of World War II and of Fascism, and will be essential reading for scholars of Central Europe and the Holocaust.

I would go back about once a month to see the progressing it was taking. It seem like nothing was being done. I assumed the venture went bankrupted. About a year later I went by and saw they was carving the Dove and erecting the Bell Tower, I became excited and fascinated that they was working on the project again. I would go back about every two weeks to see what was new. It dunned on me, the material was unique and it took special creative people to do the work. So I decided to be patient and enjoy the construction as it moved alone. Adriatica of McKinney is a housing development in Stonebridge Ranch, McKinney, Texas nearing completion at the writing of this book. It is notable for being a partial replica of the town of Supetar, Croatia. I was intrigued and researched the internet on the History of Croatia and was compelled to write a book on the struggle this Country had to go though different Periods though out history to get where they are today. What a story to tell! Croatia, today has become a destination for travelers around the World to come and visit their beaches, sightseeing and nightlife. However, the people are poor, with an average income of $8K per year. But they do enjoy most of the modern conveniences and value relationships. The Society is somewhat closed and the people are suspicious of outsiders. Maybe of what they had to endure and suffer during different periods of their history. The roots of Catholicism run deep in the Slovenian culture. All Americans and the World should visit Adriatica of McKinney and get the feel of a creative people living in harmony, peace and happiness, in a village from a replica of a Town named Supetar, Croatia. While the German Nazis, Croat Ustasha, Serbian collaborators, Cetnicks, and Bosnian Hanjar recruits are often seen as the wrongdoers, there were individuals who helped the Jews, hid them at great risk, and enabled them to survive. These people absorbed the Jews in their own ranks, and gave them the means to fight; they were the only people who helped the Jews. This volume is not about judging one side or the other; it is about acknowledging the evil all sides inflicted upon the Jewish minority in their midst. Serbs, Muslims, and Croats continue to dominate the ex-Yugoslavian scene. It has been their arena of battle for centuries, while the flourishing Jewish minority culture in that area has all but come to a historical standstill and has almost completely vanished. Yet the struggle over the historical record continues.
