Download or read book A Roman Catholic Theology of Pastoral Care written by Regis A. Duffy OFM and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2010-05-01 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing upon the long history of care in the sacramental mission of the clergy, especially since the reforms of Vatican II, Father Duffy offers a new model that can stimulate both Catholic and Protestant pastoral care to fresh thinking and imaginative reconstruction. The model derives from the catechumenate, that lengthy process of study and service which, down through the ages, has preceded baptism and guided Christian formation. Reflecting a judicious use of interdisciplinary insights and praxis theology, Father Duffy's vision represents an ecumenical contribution to sharpened focus and strengthened identity for pastoral care and practice.

Download or read book Brimming with God written by Barbara J. Blodgett and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2015-08-13 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The yearning to be a theologian is widespread. Pastors, students, supervisors, and mentors all wish to think theologically about their ministries but often feel inadequately prepared. This book seeks to respond by showcasing a variety of approaches to theological reflection brought to bear upon actual situations in ministry. It is written by theological field educators. We define theological reflection as reflection upon lived, embodied experiences in ministry that seeks to make sense of practice and form reflectors in habits for competent ministry. An introductory chapter defines theological reflection as practiced within field education and points readers toward a diversity of approaches. Eleven subsequent chapters present two reflections upon the same case, each reflection written by a different author and representing a different reflection method. The book's significance is as a resource for teaching theological reflection in a range of settings. It not only offers a definition of and rationale for theological reflection but models various approaches to it. Its use of cases furthermore models the use of case studies in theological education and pastoral practice more widely.

Download or read book Leading into the World written by Paul Galbreath and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2014-09-24 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The call to care for creation is a central part of our discipleship as followers of Jesus Christ. However, language and imagery of the earth is often absent in our worship services. This book helps reconnect our commitment to creation care with our life of discipleship. The process includes helping congregational members name ways that they are involved in caring for creationand encouraging them to see ways that these practices are related to Christian faith, and in doing so, nurturing the life of our communities while fostering our identity as those who care for the earth. Central to the process of reconnecting holy discipleship with earth stewardship is the development and rediscovery of biblical imagery and language that will support our care of creation and shape our prayers. As our actions are more closely connected to the language of our prayers, praying and acting will inform and enrich each other. This book also includes custom liturgies that highlight earth care, prayerfully prepared for the major festivals of the church year.
