Book Ethics In Social Science Research In Indonesia

Download or read book Ethics In Social Science Research In Indonesia written by Mayling Oey- Gardiner, Fandi Rahardi, dan Canyon Keanu Can and published by Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia. This book was released on 2021-04-08 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "There are not many books on ethics that are currently available, especially in Indonesia. This book comes to fill that gap. A commendable book that researchers should read, especially when there is more and more research on human behavior. It is a stupendous work."  M. Chatib Basri, Executive Director, IBER Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia 2013-2014 “This book addresses an important set of issues in the context of Indonesia, a large developing country in Southeast Asia. Most work on research ethics has originated in the developed world; the strength of this book is that it relates the large international literature to the specific problems which Indonesian researchers are likely to face, especially in the social sciences. It deserves a wide readership both in Indonesia and in other parts of the world.”  Anne Booth, Professor Emeritus, SOAS, University of London "In a world full of fake news, corrupt bureaucracies, and inequitable judgements it is vital that the training of rising generations of social scientists contains thorough grounding in ethics. This volume should be required reading in all teaching programs, and a valuable addition on the desk of all graduates wishing to pursue a career in the social research professions.”  Terence H. Hull, Emeritus Professor of Demography, The Australian National University “Reading this book is an eye-opening experience. Mayling Oey Gardiner presents novelty by discussing ethics in social science research on current issues such as big data, internet-based research, and environmental research. This book can guide academics and decision-makers to define boundaries and consider the impact of social research.”  Rhenald Kasali Ph.D, Founder Rumah Perubahan Professor of Management, University of Indonesia

Book Colloquial Jakartan Indonesian

Download or read book Colloquial Jakartan Indonesian written by James N. Sneddon and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to describe aspects of the Indonesian language as spoken by educated Jakartans in everyday interactions. This style of language is in many ways significantly different from the formal language of government and education, to the extent that it deserves separate consideration. While formal Indonesian has been the subject of a considerable amount of description very little attention has been paid to informal styles of the language. The variety described here, Colloquial Jakartan Indonesian, is the prestige variety of colloquial Indonesian and is becoming the standard informal style. The description and texts in following chapters are drawn from recordings of natural speech of educated people living in Jakarta . While the book aims to inform those with a background in linguistics the needs of teachers and learners with little or no knowledge of linguistics is always borne in mind. The work thus does not consider theoretical linguistic issues nor use technical terms which would not be readily understood by most readers.

Book Abiotic Stress Responses in Plants

Download or read book Abiotic Stress Responses in Plants written by Parvaiz Ahmad and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-11-16 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abiotic stress cause changes in soil-plant-atmosphere continuum and is responsible for reduced yield in several major crops. Therefore, the subject of abiotic stress response in plants - metabolism, productivity and sustainability - is gaining considerable significance in the contemporary world. Abiotic stress is an integral part of “climate change,” a complex phenomenon with a wide range of unpredictable impacts on the environment. Prolonged exposure to these abiotic stresses results in altered metabolism and damage to biomolecules. Plants evolve defense mechanisms to tolerate these stresses by upregulation of osmolytes, osmoprotectants, and enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants, etc. This volume deals with abiotic stress-induced morphological and anatomical changes, abberations in metabolism, strategies and approaches to increase salt tolerance, managing the drought stress, sustainable fruit production and postharvest stress treatments, role of glutathione reductase, flavonoids as antioxidants in plants, the role of salicylic acid and trehalose in plants, stress-induced flowering. The role of soil organic matter in mineral nutrition and fatty acid profile in response to heavy metal stress are also dealt with. Proteomic markers for oxidative stress as a new tools for reactive oxygen species and photosynthesis research, abscisic acid signaling in plants are covered with chosen examples. Stress responsive genes and gene products including expressed proteins that are implicated in conferring tolerance to the plant are presented. Thus, this volume would provides the reader with a wide spectrum of information including key references and with a large number of illustrations and tables. Book Mainstreaming Islam in Indonesia

Download or read book Mainstreaming Islam in Indonesia written by Inaya Rakhmani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-16 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This cutting edge book considers the question of Islam and commercialisation in Indonesia, a majority Muslim, non-Arab country. Revealing the cultural heterogeneity behind rising Islamism in a democratizing society, it highlights the case of television production and the identity of its viewers. Drawing from detailed case studies from across islands in the diverse archipelagic country, it contends that commercial television has democratised the relationship between Islamic authority and the Muslim congregation, and investigates the responses of the heterogeneous middle class towards commercial da’wah. By taking the case of commercial television, the book argues that what is occurring in Indonesia is less related to Islamic ideologisation than it is a symbiosis between Muslim middle class anxieties and the workings of market forces. It examines the web of relationships that links Islamic expression, commercial television, and national imagination, arguing that the commercialisation of Islam through national television discloses unrequited expectations of equality between ethnic and religious groups as well as between regions.
