This book was released on 2016-03-16 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tall young woman with sparkling green eyes and long curly copper-red hair stooped gracefully and placed her autumn- colored bridal bouquet on the grave at the base of the tombstone. Five little graves beside hers were testimony to the sorrow and pain of loss as written in the century-old journal held by the young bride. The autumn sun danced through the leaves of red, orange, yellow and gold and on the bent face of the young woman as she whispered,"Thank you grandmother...I wish you could see me and hear me. God does answer prayer.." This fictional account is about trusting God in all situations and allowing Him to direct your ways. Points for reflection or group discussion are at the end of the book.

Download or read book Revolution remembered written by Edward Legon and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2019-03-11 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the Restoration, parliamentarians continued to identify with the decisions to oppose and resist crown and established church. This was despite the fact that expressing such views between 1660 and 1688 was to open oneself to charges of sedition or treason. This book uses approaches from the field of memory studies to examine ‘seditious memories’ in seventeenth-century Britain, asking why people were prepared to take the risk of voicing them in public. It argues that such activities were more than a manifestation of discontent or radicalism – they also provided a way of countering experiences of defeat. Besides speech and writing, parliamentarian and republican views are shown to have manifested as misbehaviour during official commemorations of the civil wars and republic. The book also considers how such views were passed on from the generation of men and women who experienced civil war and revolution to their children and grandchildren.

Download or read book Novel Mechanisms of Memory written by Karl Peter Giese and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-09 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book integrates discoveries from recent years to show the diversity of molecular mechanisms that contribute to memory consolidation, reconsolidation, extinction, and forgetting. It provides a special focus on the processes that govern functional and structural plasticity of dendritic spines. In nine chapters, new and important ideas related to learning and memory processes will be presented. Themes discussed include the role of AMPA receptors in memory, two signalling cascades involved in local spine remodelling and memory, the role of extracellular matrix proteins in memory, the regulation of gene expression and protein translation, and mechanisms of retrieval-induced memory modulation and forgetting. We believe that the study of these topics represents a great step toward understanding the complexity of the brain and the processes it governs.

Back on Earth they're held incommunicado on orders from CIA Director Carl Snow. Soon they're all dead, victims of a mysterious fire. But the shuttle pilot's best friend, ex-fighter pilot, defense analyst and legendary Cracker Jack fanatic Peter MacKenzie, hears rumors that HAM radio operators picked up transmissions from the Discovery II mentioning UFOs. Suspecting a cover-up, he vows to find out why his friend had to die. Meanwhile, Professor Miles Lavisch discovers an enigmatic book locked inside a rock brought back by the Areopagus. Set to announce the shocking news at a Smithsonian Museum symposium, he is assassinated and the book disappears. Soon his daughter, Dr. Molly Lavisch, becomes a target too.
