Book Remarkable Leadership Lessons

Download or read book Remarkable Leadership Lessons written by Denise J Cooper and published by . This book was released on 2020-12-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being a leader is dangerous. It requires being on the line for something you believe...whether it's to change the future, walk-in faith, or stand for unpopular values. The crux of being a leader is to have the character strength, courage, and tenacity to share your point of view. To listen to another's perspective and find a way to value those who don't think or act like you and who see the world differently from you and do it in a way that honors our humanity and imperfections. Remarkable Leadership Lessons is a thought book. It's designed to let you see the power and potential within you, and if you show up, step up and speak up, you can get the results you really want. What stops us is complacency; being comfortable with fear, being less than, and believing we are not enough to be respected/loved/worthy because we experience the world differently than others. Remarkable Leadership Lessons is an action book. The anecdotes and case histories bring to life skills anyone and everyone can use to achieve more when they choose to engage in meaningful conversations that change an idea and get the needed results. The proactive measures and steps recommended throughout will help any leader establish more cooperative and supportive relationships. Leadership is a contact sport, and the sport is conversational excellence. Anyone can have a conversation that is noteworthy that leads to better results. Remarkable leadership is valuing the unique experiences others bring, helping others engage in change, while respecting their right to think differently.

Book Remarkable

Download or read book Remarkable written by Dr. Randy Ross and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2016-02-09 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When it comes to qualities such as passion, enthusiasm, energy, and creativity, the majority of the American workforce could be described as "severely lacking." Too many people just go through the motions, viewing work as something they have to do rather than something they love to do. This translates into lackluster performance, lost opportunities, and a staggering loss of profits. So how does a team leader turn a business-as-usual team into a remarkable one? Remarkable! is an entertaining and enlightening business parable that has the power to turn any team around. Through the humorous and eye-opening story of Dusty, leaders will discover how to build a culture that inspires team members to bring the best of who they are to the table every day. Addressing the three dimensions of culture--values, beliefs, and behaviors--Remarkable! introduces readers to the Four Maxims of Value Creation: creativity, positivity, sustainability, and responsibility. It shows leaders the most effective ways to cultivate these qualities in their team members and how to craft a corporate culture where people can thrive.

Book Leading with Dignity

Download or read book Leading with Dignity written by Donna Hicks and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2019-10-01 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What every leader needs to know about dignity and how to create a culture in which everyone thrives This landmark book from an expert in dignity studies explores the essential but under-recognized role of dignity as part of good leadership. Extending the reach of her award-winning book Dignity: Its Essential Role in Resolving Conflict, Donna Hicks now contributes a specific, practical guide to achieving a culture of dignity. Most people know very little about dignity, the author has found, and when leaders fail to respect the dignity of others, conflict and distrust ensue. She highlights three components of leading with dignity: what one must know in order to honor dignity and avoid violating it; what one must do to lead with dignity; and how one can create a culture of dignity in any organization, whether corporate, religious, governmental, healthcare, or beyond. Brimming with key research findings, real-life case studies, and workable recommendations, this book fills an important gap in our understanding of how best to be together in a conflict-ridden world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AWARD-WINNING #1 BEST SELLING AUTHOR Jonathan H. Westover, PhD is the # 1 ranked HR, Innovation, and Future of Work Global Thought Leader & Influencer (Thinkers360) and ranked in the Top 30 in Management and Organizational Culture (Global Gurus). Early in my adult life, I learned about an Asian proverb that translates as ''Bluer than Indigo.'' If you think about the color indigo, it is a brilliant, deep and vibrant blue -- what some would call the bluest of blues. To have something that is "bluer than indigo" is rare and truly remarkable. Contrary to popular myth, there is no one-size-fits-all or cookie cutter approach to effective leadership. There is no silver bullet, no secret sauce, no go-to model that will solve all our problems. The truth is, great leaders have all had their unique strengths (and flaws) and have all had to discover and then pave their own distinctive path in their life''s journey to fulfill their leadership potential. ''Bluer than Indigo'' Leadership will help you discover your own path and explore those ordinary, everyday actions that will help you respond to an uncertain future and produce extraordinary results for individuals, teams, and organizations. What Leaders Are Saying: "Sometimes being a leader feels complex; more often being an effective leader comes from disciplined application of simple principles. Jonathan does a masterful job of identifying not only the principles of effective leadership, but how to turn these principles into specific daily actions. This relevant, applicable, and helpful book offers concrete ideas that will have real impact for anyone working to be a more effective leader." ~ Dr. Dave Ulrich, Rensis Likert Professor, University of Michigan; Partner, The RBL Group "''Jonathan focuses on leadership characteristics and qualities that produce extraordinary results in the new world of work. Dr. Westover methodically weaves together leadership competencies and capabilities for anyone aspiring to lead and alchemize an organization to attain business goals and workforce agility. This is an excellent guide and reflective tool for leaders to refine their capabilities and qualities and pivot towards the future." ~ Dr. Amy Dufrane, SPHR, CAE, CEO of HRCI "What makes great leadership? While the answer remains open to reader interpretation, the author takes us on a journey that begins with a broad definition and ends with an opportunity to make it owned, personally. Where the magic is revealed comes through in seamless, simple and applicable anecdotes, applications and tools any reader will appreciate, regardless of their current position or status in life. Cheers to Dr. Westover for providing an informative, fluid and accessible leadership book at a time when any of us can use it...if not for ourselves, then for working with others." ~ David A. Yudis, Psy.D., President at Potential Selves "Dr. Westover has done the work to make what''s required for leadership in today''s complex world accessible, practical, and powerful. This must-read book covers all the components necessary to become a more conscious, impactful leader by introducing critical concepts, inviting self-reflection, and setting a path for accountability." ~ Shonna Waters, PhD, Vice President at BetterUp "Dr. Jon does a great job at identifying a variety of areas of focus any leader should take to be more effective. From framing your mind for growth to being a more consciously inclusive leader (my biased favorite!), Dr. Jon frames these concepts in a memorable, approachable, and authentic manner. A must-have book for the leader who wants to improve their leadership awesomeness in a variety of facets." ~ Dr. Steve Yacovelli ("The Gay Leadership Dude"), Award-winning leadership author, speaker, and catalyst Find more resources at www.innovativehumancapital.com.

Book Matsushita Leadership

Download or read book Matsushita Leadership written by John P. Kotter and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2012-12-11 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He was one of the most inspirational role models of all time. Thrown into poverty at age four, Konosuke Matsushita (Mat-SOSH-ta) struggled with the early deaths of family members, an apprenticeship which demanded sixteen-hour days at age nine, all the problems associated with starting a business with neither money nor connections, the death of his only son, the Great Depression, the horror of World War II in Japan, and more. Yet John P. Kotter shows in this fascinating and instructive book how, instead of being ground down by these hardships, Matsushita grew to be a fabulously successful entrepreneur and business leader, the founder of Japan's General Electric: the $65 billion a year Matsushita Electric Corporation. His accomplishments as a leader, author, educator, philanthropist, and management innovator are astonishing, and outshine even Soichiro Honda, J.C. Penney, Sam Walton, and Henry Ford. In this immensely readable book, Kotter relates how Matsushita created a large business, invented management practices that are increasingly being used today, helped lead his country's economic miracle after World War II wrote dozens of books in his latter years, founded a graduate school of leadership, created Japan's version of a Nobel Prize, and gave away hundreds of millions to good causes. The Matsushita story expands our notion of the possible, even for a sickly youngster who did not have the benefit of a privileged background, education, good looks, or a charismatic presence. It tells us much about leadership, entrepreneurship, a drive for lifelong learning, and their roots. It demonstrates the power of a longterm outlook, idealistic goals, and humility in the face of great success. Matsushita Leadershipis both a biography and a set of lessons for careers and corporations in the 21st century. An inspirational story and a business primer, the implications are powerful, for organizations and for living a meaningful life.

Book Centered Leadership

Download or read book Centered Leadership written by Joanna Barsh and published by Crown Currency. This book was released on 2014-03-18 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What enables some talented people to rise to the top and live their full ambitions at work and in life, while others stop short? In 2007, Joanna Barsh led a team at McKinsey & Company to answer that very question. In the process, they uncovered what distinguishes leaders who are successful from those who achieve true greatness, developing an approach called Centered Leadership. They drew on research from across the academic fields of leadership, organization behavior, neuroscience, evolutionary psychology and positive psychology. In addition, Barsh interviewed over 160 leaders from many fields – including business, government and the arts – and from many countries. With quantitative research, the team learned that these leaders have mastered practices to find their balance in the midst of chaos and lead from their most resourceful selves, unleashing the potential of others. In 2009, Johanne Lavoie joined to lead development of programs that help executives build these capabilities. Their research and development work continues as more and more leaders experience Centered Leadership. In the business bestseller, How Remarkable Women Lead, Barsh described Centered Leadership’s five capabilities and the research that underpins it. Here, with colleague Johanne Lavoie, Barsh provides a practical, actionable field guide for implementation. In Centered Leadership, Barsh and Lavoie will guide you through the Centered Leadership program. You’ll find the interactive tools, exercises, and practices that have helped the men and women participants in Centered Leadership programs gain the skills, courage and confidence to lead. And, along the way, you’ll read inspiring stories of remarkable men and women leaders who demonstrate the power of these skills in action. Those early in their careers will learn how to use these skills to explore their passions and accelerate their professional development. Those forming families will be able to use them to reconcile manage work and life to get the most out of both. And those who have already achieved success will be able use these practices to reach their next leadership horizon. No matter what stage you are currently at in your career, or what level of leadership you aspire to, this book will equip you with the tools to unlock your own Centered Leader and achieve more positive impact at work and outside it.

Book Leadership Dubai Style

Download or read book Leadership Dubai Style written by Tommy Weir and published by Emlc Print. This book was released on 2015-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time ever, the habits behind Dubai's success... Every now and then a story comes along that absolutely captures your attention. Dubai is one of those for me, but not just me--millions around the world yearn to come to Dubai. This global supercity, which just five decades ago was a cholera-plagued backwater, might just be the picture of a dream becoming reality. But how, exactly, did this incredible transformation take place? Leadership! But not your run-of-the-mill government leadership, nor typical corporate leadership, nor leadership taught in classrooms. This is Dubai-style leadership. Living and working in Dubai for the past decade, I've seen the leadership impact firsthand. As a leadership scholar and advisor to CEOs, I thought I was perfectly situated to discover the reasons behind Dubai's success. So, in 2008 I set out to discover the city's "secret sauce." Then the Global Financial Crisis hit! Disaster! I pressed the pause button on my research, and, like everyone in the city, held my breath. Well, what happened next confirmed that there is indeed something unique and special here. I spent the next three years researching, interviewing more than two hundred leaders, and identifying the city's leadership secrets, eventually whittling them down to twelve habits. My aim was to develop a replicable model that I could share with my readers--leaders in businesses, governments, and elsewhere. Anyone who is interested in leadership, and in particular achieving exceptional results, can benefit from understanding the twelve habits I outline here. To learn how to lead Dubai style, we need to walk the desert paths of the past to the superhighways of the future. Leadership Dubai Style retraces the city's journey and draws out the leadership habits that emerged over time. For decades Dubai brought in--imported--leading minds from every field to learn from them. Now it's time for Dubai to teach us--to teach us how to lead!
