This book was released on 2016-08-16 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details my experiences in the Himalayan regions of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, and Myanmar. In an effort to become more educated about the way of life of its peoples, I discovered that religion is such an important part of their everyday life. Also, as the lands become more integrated into the mountains, the feeling of something spiritual becomes noticeable. Maybe it's the solitude, the peacefulness, or could it be that the Himalayas possess a certain mystic. My travels took me into the cities congested streets where I mingled with the locals and learnt about their culture, the historic and important sacred temples that support the regions religions, and the near isolation in the mountains. These Himalayan regions possess a certain magic that one cannot encounter elsewhere in the World, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity I have been given to venture into these lands. Be enlightened.

Book A Himalayan Hope and a Himalayan Promise

Download or read book A Himalayan Hope and a Himalayan Promise written by Thomas E. Pliske Ph. D. and published by . This book was released on 2019-09-15 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All of us are asking how our lives can make a difference in creating a world with more kindness, peace, love, sharing, harmony and happiness. The promises of economics, politics, diplomacy, philosophy and even religion have not satisfied our hopes, although each of these can be useful if properly guided. It is the Light of pure spirituality, of the inner heart of humanity, that can and will bring healing and turn our aspirations into realization. How do we experience this Light and how will it perform the great work of transforming our own life and that of the planet? The Vedic Indian spiritual tradition is one of the oldest in the world. Neither a religion nor a philosophy, it is the collective experiences of human beings over many millennia, yogis, who sought and realized the highest Truth. In their own words, they discovered the Truth of the Creator at one with the universal creation, existing in a bond of divine love to which every human soul has awareness and access. The principles of attaining this consciousness, the yoga, has passed down the centuries from masters to disciples, and are available to all who are receptive to learn. The compassionate vision of the Creator is that every aspect of creation: humanity, Mother Earth and the universe will eventually become conscious of the divinity of their existence. This book explores the promise and practical value of the Vedic tradition through the experiences and writings of two contemporary realized masters, Sri Chinmoy and Sri Aurobindo. The discussions center on the themes of comparing yogic with conventional scientific perspectives, the inner dimensions of human consciousness, evolution, death, reincarnation and karma. The last chapter invites the reader to envision the transformation of three modern debates when seen through the lens of yogic vision: global environment, ethical standards and medical practice.

Book excerpt: Every year, a group of Isha meditators sets out on a tour of the Himalayas. Accompanying them on this journey is Sadhguru – a spiritual master considered by many to be one of the foremost living yogis on the planet. This is a book for those who stayed behind. It is a chance to make a pilgrimage on the page, travelling through the unpredictable but fascinating terrain of the master’s words. Amalgamating discourses and conversations from several yatras, it is a blend of the specific and the timeless. This book is not just about the Himalayas. And yet, the book would never have happened without the Himalayas. The mountains play a vital role in the text, alternately as context and catalyst, mood and metaphor. Without them, some of the questions in this book would never have been asked. Even if they sometimes seem tangential to the line of enquiry, they remain a powerful subterranean presence, eventually becoming the very bedrock of this book.

Book excerpt: These days it seems that more and more people seek a satisfaction in their lives that goes beyond having a successful career, a comfortable lifestyle, and access to the latest high-tech gadgets and conveniences. For the answers they can't find anywhere else, they look to the spiritual world. But most have never been touched by an angel, and few have the patience for sweat lodges, the stamina to climb the Himalayas, or the fashion sense to wear crystals. It's one thing to draw inspiration from the books in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, but quite another to become a spiritual person through one's own deeds. For these interested yet wary people comes the perfectly accessible program of 30 Days to a More Spiritual Life. This simple guidebook is designed to help readers find personal, comprehensible ways to tap into their spirituality in every aspect of daily life. Growing closer to God (or whatever Higher Power) means communicating not only through prayer and meditation but also through understanding and appreciating one's self and one's world. 30 Days to a More Spiritual Life guides readers toward creating holy moments in the day and discovering their spiritual sides in interactions with others, in conducting business, and even in expressing love. Based on Shana Aborn's very popular article on the same subject for Ladies' Home Journal, 30 Days will incorporate personal anecdotes from the men and women who have benefited from the 30 Day program. Book Mysticism and Spirituality

Download or read book Mysticism and Spirituality written by Panikkar, Raimon and published by Orbis Books. This book was released on 2014-12-03 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first volume of this Opera Omnia has been divided into two books, one dedicated to mysticism, intended as the supreme experience of reality, and the second dedicated to spirituality, intended as the path toward such an experience. There are different paths, because they depend not only on tradition and worship but also on the different sensitivities of human beings and historical periods. What kind of spirituality is appropriate to our times? ... The book starts with two booklets in which some lines of argument, developed in the context of Christian religious retreats, were spelled out in the plain language of everyday speech. The second section deals with a spirituality practiced by monks, although not confined to institutional monasticism, but seen rather as a universal archetype to be found in very human being (the search for monos, union with the Divine). There follows a description of the ascetic tradition in India and, as an example of the encounter of western (Christian) spirituality with Indic spirituality, an article dedicated to my friend Henri Le Saux, who is an example of the fertile encounter between the two traditions. The last section is dedicated to wisdom as the goal of a positive spirituality. (from the Introduction).
