Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive book covers the five major NDT methods - liquid penetrants, eddy currents, magnetic particles, radiography and ultrasonics in detail and also considers newer methods such as acoustic emission and thermography and discusses their role in on-line monitoring of plant components. Analytical techniques such as reliability studies and statistical quality control are considered in terms of their ability to reduce inspection costs and limit down time. A useful chapter provides practical guidance on selecting the right method for a given situation.

Book Non Destructive Assessment of Concrete Structures Reliability and Limits of Single and Combined Techniques

Download or read book Non Destructive Assessment of Concrete Structures Reliability and Limits of Single and Combined Techniques written by Denys Breysse and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-20 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives information on non destructive techniques for assessment of concrete structures. It synthesizes the best of international knowledge about what techniques can be used for assessing material properties (strength) and structural properties (geometry, defects...). It describes how the techniques can be used so as to answer a series of usual questions, highlighting their capabilities and limits, and providing advices for a better use of techniques. It also focuses on possible combinations of techniques so as to improve the assessment. It is based on many illustrative examples and give in each case references to standards and guidelines.

Book Nondestructive Evaluation

Download or read book Nondestructive Evaluation written by Don E. Bray and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996-12-12 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) inspection schemes are important in design, manufacturing, and maintenance. By correctly applying techniques of NDE, we can reduce machine and system failures and increase reliability of operating systems over an extended lifetime. Nondestructive Evaluation: A Tool in Design, Manufacturing, and Service introduces and discusses primary techniques used in the field, including ultrasonics, acoustic emission, magnetics, radiography, penetrants, and eddy currents. Examples of each of these techniques are included, demonstrating typical applications.

Book Non Destructive Testing

Download or read book Non Destructive Testing written by B. HULL and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-03-19 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is of great importance that both individual components and complete engineer ing assemblies and structures are free from damaging defects and other possible causes of premature failure. A whole series of inspection instruments and tech niques has been evolved over the years and new methods are still being developed to assist in the process of assessing the integrity and reliability of parts and assemblies. Non-destructive testing and evaluation methods are widely used in industry for checking the quality of production, and also as part of routine inspec tion and maintenance in service. Despite the obvious importance of the subject, and the fact that most of the inspection methods are based on well-established scientific principles, there is a dearth of publications suitable for use as texts in our universities and colleges. The whole area of non-destructive testing receives scant attention in many engineering degree and diploma courses in the UK and this may be a consequence of a shortage of student texts. The authors, in producing this basic text, hope that it will prove useful to students on engineering courses and, possibly, act as a stimulus for the more widespread introduction of the subject into curricula.

Book Non Destructive Testing

Download or read book Non Destructive Testing written by J. Boogaard and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 918 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is an activity closely related to the quality and reliability of products, and to the reliable and safe operation of industrial plants. Physical measuring techniques are used to examine parts of constructional assemblies for hidden imperfections and defects. A wide choice of measuring techniques is available to meet the demand of examining a wide variety of materials such as metals, plastics, rocks, as well as different structures and sizes ranging from semiconductor chips to nuclear reactors and off-shore oil platforms. Activities in the field of NDT encompass: Fundamental research to understand and describe the way in which reactions of certain imperfections to a physical measuring technique can be optimized and used to assess type and grade of imperfection; Methods to characterize materials and materials properties; Applications in product quality control; Applications in plant inspection to ensure a reliable operation of components, avoiding damage to both man and environment, as well as financial losses; Personnel education and qualification schemes; The spread of NDT applications to newly industrialized countries. The two proceedings volumes contain over 400 review and specialist papers. The most recent developments in the field of NDT are presented with contributions by outstanding experts from all over the world. Papers are grouped according to technique for those dealing with fundamental research and to field of application for the more practical oriented ones. In this way each chapter provides an easy overview of related current research. Extensive keyword indexes have been included to facilitate the retrieval of information according to individual requirements. The high technical level of the papers and their up-to-date content will make them an indispensable source of information for students, researchers and professionals in the areas covered.
