She wanted to give up and die, too. With God's help and the love of her family and friends, she knew she had to go on living. After graduation she left her boyfriend, Tracy Kelley, in Laurel, Montana, to pursue her dream of modeling, not knowing where it would take her or the challenges she would have to face. Sophia took her under her wing and treated her like the daughter she lost several years ago. Not only did she give Isabelle a job, but gave her a safe place to live. Isabelle fell deeply in love, only to be left alone with heartache and tears. She needed her family, but they were so far away. She wondered if she made the right choice when she decided to accept the job in Italy. Is there happiness in Isabelle's future? Can she let herself fall in love again or can she get past all the heartache she has been through? Only time will tell...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Full of wisdom as well as practical guidance about how to bring spiritual illumination into the very heart of our humanness.” —John Welwood, author of Perfect Love, Imperfect Relationships and Journey of the Heart Our natural state is to love and be loved. From deep within, we’re compelled to seek connection. Yet relationships remain a struggle—even for the most spiritually enlightened among us. Traumatic experiences, insecure attachment, and especially the false but commonly held belief that we are separate, both from each other and from the love we seek, can cause endless problems in relationships. As long as our connections are built on this untruth, lasting love and harmony in relationship will elude us. Awakened Relating can help. Written by a licensed therapist and pioneer in bringing the most direct teachings of non-duality into the practice of psychotherapy, this book offers practical guidance for improving relationships through “awakened relating”—a more enlightened experience of falling in love, communication, conflict resolution, and sexuality. With examples, guidelines, and experiential inquiries for realizing your true nature, this book will dispel common myths and mistaken beliefs about intimacy and help you cultivate a loving relationship with yourself and others. Including inspirational stories of people who practice awakened relating in their own lives, this book will show you how to identify, transform, and resolve the deep psychological issues that prevent you from having the harmonious, loving relationships you seek. Now is the time to realize the deep and ever-present love that exists within and all around you.

Book Interactional Research Into Problem Based Learning

Download or read book Interactional Research Into Problem Based Learning written by Susan M. Bridges and published by Purdue University Press. This book was released on 2020-08-15 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Problem-based learning (PBL) has been deployed as a student-centered instructional approach and curriculum design in a wide range of academic fields across the world. The majority of educational research to date has focused on knowledge-based outcomes addressing why PBL is useful. Researchers of PBL are developing a growing interest in qualitative research with a process-driven orientation to examining learning interactions. It is essential to broaden this research base so as to support PBL designs and approaches to leading students into higher-order thinking and a deeper approach to learning. Interactional Research Into Problem-Based Learning explores how students learn in an inquiry-led approach such as PBL. Included are studies that focus on learning in situ and go beyond measuring the outcomes of PBL. The goal is to further expand the PBL research base of qualitative investigations examining the social dimension and lived experience of teaching and learning within the PBL process. A second aim of this volume is to shed light on the methodological aspects of researching PBL, adding new perspectives to the current trends in qualitative studies on PBL. Chapters cover ethnographic approaches to video analysis, introspective protocols such as stimulated recall, and longitudinal qualitative studies using discourse-based analytic approaches. Specifically, this book will further contribute to the current educational research both theoretically and empirically in the following key areas: students’ learning processes in PBL over time and across contexts; the nature of quality interactions in PBL tutorials; the (inter)cultural aspects of learning in PBL; facilitation processes and group dynamics in synchronous and asynchronous face-to-face and blended PBL; and the developing nature of PBL learner identity.

Book Ann A Story of Intolerance

    Book Details:
  • Author : John Moehl
  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2019-03-22
  • ISBN : 1532655878
  • Pages : 270 pages

Download or read book Ann A Story of Intolerance written by John Moehl and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-03-22 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ann may have been a product of her times—she was certainly, if possibly unwittingly, a product of her grandmother Isabelle. While Ann may have been molded by external forces, Isabelle was a force unto herself—a pacesetter, an indomitable woman of her times. Isabelle forged avenues that were often not taken by women of her day, even foreshadowing changes in perception that were still years away. Yet, in spite of her often avant-garde actions, her prejudices were unwavering and largely myopic. While Isabelle’s single-mindedness was mimicked, even magnified by her granddaughter, Ann would never acknowledge that she was her grandmother’s facsimile. She believed she was her own woman and headed to the top. Ann was a manipulator and a schemer. Sadly, Ann left very little good in her wake. The lives of Ann and Isabelle touched many; dragging some under, pushing others aside, and overpowering those close to them. Their lives served as textbook cases of bigotry and discrimination that are warnings that tolerance and acceptance are key to our social fabric.

Book excerpt: This riveting novel tells the story of Isabelle, a beautiful child, who grows up in the tempestuous city of Bombay. It takes readers through Isabelle's emotional roller-coaster of a journey - her childhood, her starry-eyed romance, the killing of innocence as she endures a traumatic marriage, and her final tryst with true love in Canada. The book is richly evocative and entertaining in its portrayal of Bombay. But saddened by the overwhelming poverty, depressed over the disparities and contradictions of society, and disappointed by the taboos of colour and gender, Isabelle leaves her people and the city she loves to migrate to Canada, a new land. Incredibly, two celestial beings follow and guide Isabelle, from above and afar, throughout her life. They don't intervene actively but subtly guide her toward contentment and love. The real merges with the surreal. Caution: You may not be able to put this book down! You won't forget Isabelle - her joys, her pain and torment, her love, her devotion to her family and her sacrifices for it. And you will envy Isabelle for her two cosmic Samaritans! In sum, Colleen Ansley's debut novel is a gem! - S R Madhu, writer-editor, Chennai, India
