Book Relativistic Electron Beam Interactions for Generation of High Power at Microwave Frequencies

Download or read book Relativistic Electron Beam Interactions for Generation of High Power at Microwave Frequencies written by and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last few years, the application of intense, relativistic- electron beams to the generation of electromagnetic radiation at wavelengths ranging from 10 cm down to fraction of a millimeter has enabled significant advances to be made in peak power capabilities. The purpose of this review is to summarize the status of these advances and to describe briefly the nature of the several mechanisms involved.

Book Millimeter Wave Generation by Relativistic Electron Beams and Microwave Plasma Interaction

Download or read book Millimeter Wave Generation by Relativistic Electron Beams and Microwave Plasma Interaction written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design and operation of a compact, high power, millimeter wave source (cusptron) has been completed and proven successful. Extensive theoretical analysis of cusptron beam and rf dynamics has been carried out and published. Theory agrees beautifully with experiment. Microwave Bragg scattering due to been achieved by using expanding plasmas to upshift rf signal frequencies.

Book Generation and Application of High Power Microwaves

Download or read book Generation and Application of High Power Microwaves written by R.A Cairns and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1997-12-01 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written at the graduate level, Generation and Application of High Power Microwaves discusses the basic physics of the generation of microwave and radiofrequency waves in the megawatt power range and the application of these ideas to a range of devices such as klystrons, gyrotrons, and free electron lasers. The book also contains chapters covering the transmission of the power through waveguides and the problems associated with mode conversion in transmission lines. The main application area covered is the heating and current drive in tokamaks and other devices for research into controlled nuclear fusion. Other applications of high power microwave technology are not neglected, and among those discussed are multiple charged ion and soft x-ray sources, electron spin resonance spectroscopy, advanced materials processing, millimeter wave radar, and supercolliders.

Book Quasi Optical Control of Intense Microwave Transmission

Download or read book Quasi Optical Control of Intense Microwave Transmission written by Jay L. Hirshfield and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-02-12 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between February 17 and 20, 2004, approximately fifty scientists from ten countries came together at the Institute of Applied Physics (IAP), Nizhny Novgorod, Russia to participate in a NATO sponsored Advanced Research Workshop whose appellation is re flected in the title of this volume, namely Quasi Optical Control of Intense Microwave Transmission. The fashionable label “quasi optical ” has come into use in recent decades to denote structures whose characteristic dimensions exceed (sometimes by large factors) the free space radiation wavelength. Such structures were and are developed to replace the traditional single eigenmode ones in situations when high frequenc ies (short wavelengths) are combined with high powers, a combination that could otherwise lead to RF breakdown and high Ohmic wall heating rates. Treatments of guided wave propagation in oversized structures is aimed at pr eserving the propagating field coherence and thus to provide efficient transmission of RF power to remote destinations such as antennas, microwave ovens, plasma chemical reactors, nuclear fusion machines, and the like.
