Book Effects of Isokinetic and Isotonic Muscle Training on Vertical Jumping Ability and Maximum Power Output as a Result of Four and Six Week Training Programs

Download or read book Effects of Isokinetic and Isotonic Muscle Training on Vertical Jumping Ability and Maximum Power Output as a Result of Four and Six Week Training Programs written by Bradford Lawrence Flick and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study compared the effects of two training programs, on isotonic and the other isokinetic, on vertical jumping (VJ) ability and maximum power output (MPO) over periods of four and six weeks. Fifty-five male subjects volunteered with 50 completing the six week program. Subjects were randomly assigned to groups and treatments randomly assigned to the three groups. The isokinetic (ISOK) group consisted of N=17, isotonic (IST) N=16, and control (CONT) N=17, subjects. Subjects trained three times per week for six weeks, with training programs consisting of three sets of ten repetitions per workout. Testing was performed initially(T1) at four weeks (T2) and six weeks (T3). Test battery consisted of Margaria-Kalamen power test and jump and reach test for VJ.

Book The Effects of Plyometric Training on Vertical Jump Height

Download or read book The Effects of Plyometric Training on Vertical Jump Height written by Kyle Lesko and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of plyometric training on vertical jumping ability. The subjects consisted of the 14 non-injured players age (x age= 19.9 ± 1.4yr, x height = 185.4 ± 4.9cm, x mass = 78.5 + 5.4kg) on the Springfield College Men's Volleyball Team. All subjects took part in their regular two-hour in season volleyball training session 5-6 times per week for 8 weeks. The subjects were randomly assigned into control and experimental groups. The control group participated only in volleyball practice while the experimental group participated in a plyometric training program twice per week following the regular volleyball training sessions. The plyometric program consisted of depth jumps, box drills, high knee bounding drills and repetitive vertical jumps. Vertical jump height was measured, using the Vertec, pre- and post-training. A 2 X 2 repeated measures ANOVA showed no significant difference (p>.05) in mean vertical jump height between the control and the experimental groups. A significant difference (p

Book A Study of the Effects of Three Training Programs on Vertical Jumping

Download or read book A Study of the Effects of Three Training Programs on Vertical Jumping written by Donald Barry Clardy and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to determine if any difference exists between three training methods for vertical jumping ability on college males. It was also the purpose of this study to determine if any training method was superior in developing the fundamental skill of vertical jumping. Specifically, the following problems were investigated: 1. The effect of selected dynamic exercises upon the performance of the vertical jump. 2. The effect of selected isometric exercises upon the performance of the vertical jump. 3. The effect of skipping rope and jumping upon the performance of the vertical jump. 4. The effect of the selected treatments both within each group and between the groups.
