Book Relative Effectiveness of Different Viewing Devices for Photo Interpretation

Download or read book Relative Effectiveness of Different Viewing Devices for Photo Interpretation written by Boyd L. Mathers and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study was undertaken to assess the usefulness of different viewing devices -- light table and projection -- designed to aid interpreters in extracting information from imagery. Particular consideration was given to variations in magnification, scale, and image quality as applied to viewing conditions. Interpreter performance in screening, quick-time, and detailed interpretation tasks was compared by three methods--rear projection (optic), light table, and magnified projection. In a separate experiment, using projection only, interpreter performance on the same three tasks was compared when different levels of image quality, scale, and enlargement were introduced. Significantly better performance resulted under the light table method than the other two methods in quick-time tasks. Imagery of the larger scale yielded significantly better performance on both quick-time and detailed interpretation tasks. (Author).

Book Team Procedures in Image Interpretation

Download or read book Team Procedures in Image Interpretation written by Stanley F. Bolin and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Present study was one in a series concerned with the development of effective image interpreter team techniques and organization. Ten different team procedures were compared with each other and with individual interpreters on eight performance tests based on photography from four aerial surveillance missions of World War II and four missions flown during the Korean war. Degree of cooperation and working methods were systematically varied in 80 matched teams of two or three Army image interpreters. Rights and wrongs scores were based on a consensus of either two or three team members. Three-man teams, with individuals working independently, proved consistently superior to the average individual interpreter attaining the same level of completness as the average individual with substantial increases in accuracy. On the eight-mission performance tests used in this experiment, the three-man independent teams had average accuracy scores ranging from 52% to 100% versus 12% to 39% for the average individual. Two-man independent teams also showed gains in accuracy but with reduced completeness compared with individual performance. (Author).

Book Character Virtue Theories and the Vices

Download or read book Character Virtue Theories and the Vices written by Christine McKinnon and published by Broadview Press. This book was released on 1999-08-26 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book argues that the question posed by virtue theories, namely, “what kind of person should I be?” provides a more promising approach to moral questions than do either deontological or consequentialist moral theories where the concern is with what actions are morally required or permissible. It does so both by arguing that there are firmer theoretical foundations for virtue theories, and by persuasively suggesting the superiority of virtue theories over deontological and consquentialist theories on the question of explaining morally bad behavior. Virtue theories can give a richer account by appealing to the kinds of dispositions that make certain bad choices appear attractive. This richer account also exposes a further advantage of virtue theories: they provide the best kinds of motivations for agents to become better persons.
