Considera-se a linha geral da temática em perspectiva que se espelha nos desafios do direito no Século XXI. Em seu âmbito foram desenvolvidos artigos com quatro temáticas divindades em partes específicas. Em sua primeira parte, o livro aborda a temática das “Relações consumeristas e direito privado contemporâneo”, composta por três artigos que tem por eixo central as relações consumeristas. As discussões envolvem desde a mitigação da vontade na era do supercapitalismo digital a aspectos da responsabilização do fornecedor. Na segunda parte, a temática é “Relações jurídico-privadas e direitos humanos”, composta por cinco artigos, que versam os direitos humanos e as relações privadas. As discussões são variadas, englobando o meio ambiente do trabalho, acessibilidade, direito fundamental à moradia e a proteção aos animais. A terceira parte, cujo núcleo central é “Relações familiares no Século XXI”, compõe-se de quatro artigos, que versam sobre variados temas de direito de família. São abordados temas como a mediação para a resolução de conflitos na alienação parental, práticas de justiça restaurativa e relações de polia- mor na visão do Poder Judiciário. Por fim, na parte IV, última da coletânea, o tema central versa sobre “Responsabilidade por danos aos direitos de personalidade’, com cinco artigos que versam sobre variados temas. São abordados temas como a responsabilidade aquiliana no Direito Romano, o abuso da liberdade de manifestação, a responsabilidade civil de operadoras de internet, responsabilidade pela perda de uma chance e responsabilidade na área médica. Os artigos são expressão das pesquisas realizadas no âmbito do Curso de Mestrado do Centro Universitário 7 de Setembro – UNI7.

It is intended for policy makers, academics, activists and development partners - indeed anyone who is curious about how to address inclusion in a world that is witness to intense demographic, spatial, economic and technological transitions. Placing the discussion of social inclusion within such global transitions and transformations, it argues that social inclusion is an evolving agenda. While it does not purport to provide definitive answers as to how to achieve social inclusion in any given context, the report offers an easy-to-use definition and a framework to assist practitioners in asking, outlining and developing some of the right questions that can help advance the agenda of inclusion in different contexts. There are seven main messages in this report: 1. Excluded groups exist in all countries. 2. Excluded groups are consistently denied opportunities. 3. Intense global transitions are leading to social transformations that create new opportunities for inclusion as well as exacerbating existing forms of exclusion. 4. People take part in society through markets, services, and spaces. 5. Social and economic transformations affect the attitudes and perceptions of people. As people act on the basis of how they feel, it is important to pay attention to their attitudes and perceptions. 6. Exclusion is not immutable. Abundant evidence demonstrates that social inclusion can be planned and achieved. 7. Moving ahead will require a broader and deeper knowledge of exclusion and its impacts as well as taking concerted action.

Book excerpt: This is the first book that documents poverty systematically for the world's indigenous peoples in developing regions in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The volume compiles results for roughly 85 percent of the world's indigenous peoples. It draws on nationally representative data to compare trends in countries' poverty rates and other social indicators with those for indigenous sub-populations and provides comparable data for a wide range of countries all over the world. It estimates global poverty numbers and analyzes other important development indicators, such as schooling, health, and social protection. Provocatively, the results show a marked difference in results across regions, with rapid poverty reduction among indigenous (and non-indigenous) populations in Asia contrasting with relative stagnation - and in some cases falling back - in Latin America and Africa. Two main factors motivate the book. First, there is a growing concern among poverty analysts worldwide that countries with significant vulnerable populations - such as indigenous peoples - may not meet the Millennium Development Goals, and thus there exists a consequent need for better data tracking conditions among these groups. Second, there is a growing call by indigenous organizations, including the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples, for solid, disaggregated data analyzing the size and causes of the "development gap."

This book provides the first rigorous assessment of changes in socio-economic conditions among the region's indigenous people, tracking progress in these indicators during the first international decade of indigenous peoples (1994-2004). Set within the context of existing literature and political changes over the course of the decade, this volume provides a rigorous statistical analysis of indigenous populations in Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru, examining their poverty rates, education levels, income determinants, labour force participation and other social indicators. The results show that while improvements have been achieved in some social indicators, little progress has been made with respect to poverty.

Embodied Care is the first work to argue for the body's centrality to care ethics, doing so by analyzing our corporeality at the phenomenological level. It develops the idea that our bodies are central to our morality, paying particular attention to the ways we come to care for one another. Hamington's argues that human bodies are "built to care"; as a result, embodiment must be recognized as a central factor in moral consideration. He takes the reader on an exciting journey from modern care ethics to Merleau-Ponty's philosophy of the body and then to Jane Addams's social activism and philosophy. The ideas in Embodied Care do not lead to yet another competing theory of morality; rather, they progress through theory and case studies to suggest that no theory of morality can be complete without a full consideration of the body.
