This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anglès: Nowadays the European society is living a revolutionary change in their high education system with the coming into effect of the European space for higher education. This new space for higher education was set out in the Bologna declaration. The aim of this declaration is to structure the higher education in a convergent way in 47 countries. In Spain, the application of the Bologna declaration defines a completely opposite philosophy in higher education. The way the lecturers used to organize their degrees in Spain was based in a master class were the interaction between the teacher and their students was almost zero. The evaluation method was based in a final examination were the student had to answer the final exam and its final mark was hundred per cent based on its exam's result. With the coming into effect of the European space for higher education, everybody's role has changed. Now, the lecturers are expected not to dazzle their students with a master class but to direct their students' efforts toward the topics they have not properly understood, mentoring their day by day work. The students are expected to work an amount of hours per week by themselves in different tasks and going into the topics. This new paradigm in the higher education applied to the schools of civil engineering and more specifically to the reinforced concrete area demands new educational tools to make easier for the students to work out the calculations. The key point of these tools is to let the students be focused in the different theoretical parts of the problem and at the same time to let them work out many different cases without having to repeat every time some calculations which are already assumed as known from previous courses. Therefore, they can see how the different parameters (Reinforced area, concrete cross section, etc.) change the final result by themselves, without their lecturers' help. These tools must be focused on improving the learning performance in the important and most difficult topics. This dissertation's target is to develop one of these tools to work out the reinforced and prestressed concrete interaction diagram for section subjected to axial load and biaxial bending moment, helping the students with a useful tool to work out one of the most common problems in reinforced beams.

Book Behavior of Channel shaped Reinforced Concrete Columns Under Combined Biaxial Bending and Compression

Download or read book Behavior of Channel shaped Reinforced Concrete Columns Under Combined Biaxial Bending and Compression written by Dureseti Chidambarrao and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He inelastic behavior of irregular shaped reinforced concrete columns has been a constant concern for a structural engineer, to design a safe and economic structure in modern buildings and bridge piers. The shape of the elements in a reinforced concrete structure may be used to optimize its structural strength, to make better use of the available space, to improve the aesthetic appearance of the structure, or to facilitate construction. Due to the locations of the columns, the shapes of the buildings and the nature of the applied loads, many columns are subject to combined biaxial bending and axial load. Seven 1/4 scale direct models of the short, tied columns with channel-shaped cross sections were constructed for the present investigation. All the specimens were tested and studied for their complete strength and deformation behavior under combined biaxial bending moments and axial compression, and were used to examine some of the variables involved such as relative eccentricities and loading variations. The end conditions are assumed to be pinned-ended. The experimental load-strain and biaxial moment-curvature curves have been compared with the analytical results of the strength and deformation for biaxially loaded channel-shaped column members, and a satisfactory agreement was obtained from zero up to the ultimate load condition. The above inelastic behavior of channel-shaped reinforced concrete columns has formed the basis of the redistribution of the moments and forces in a statically indeterminate structure, and these characteristics can also be found useful for the limit analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures.

Book Design of Reinforced Concrete Sections Under Bending and Axial Forces

Download or read book Design of Reinforced Concrete Sections Under Bending and Axial Forces written by Helena Barros and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-03 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains auxiliary calculation tools to facilitate the safety assessment of reinforced concrete sections. Essential parameters in the design to the ultimate limit state of resistance such as the percentage of reinforcement and the position of the neutral axis in concrete cross-sections, as well as the control of the maximum stresses in service limit states are provided by these tools. A set of tables, charts and diagrams used to design cross-sections of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures are supplied. The most current beams and columns cross-sections namely, rectangular, circular and T-sections are considered. These tools have been prepared in line with the provisions of the new European regulations, with particular reference to Eurocode 2 – Design of Concrete Structures. The book stands as an ideal learning resource for students of structural design and analysis courses in civil engineering, building construction and architecture, as well as a valuable reference for concrete structural design professionals in practice.

Book Modelling and Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures for Dynamic Loading

Download or read book Modelling and Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures for Dynamic Loading written by Christian Meyer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-04 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive review of the material behavior of concrete under dynamic loads, especially impact and impuls, opens the volume. It is followed by a summary of the various analytical tools available to engineers interested in analyzing the nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete members for dynamic load. These range from relatively simple and practice-oriented push-over analysis to sophisticated layered finite element models. Important design-related topics are discussed, with special emphasis on performance of concrete frames subjected to seismic loads. The significance of modern software systems is recognized by including extensive examples. For readers not current in dynamic analysis methods, an appendix contains a review of the mathematical methods most commonly used for such analysis.
