Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Over a period of more than twenty-five years, Christopher Bamford-as editor in chief for Anthroposophic Press-wrote more than fifty introductions to works by Rudolf Steiner. Taken together, they provide perhaps the most comprehensive introduction to spiritual science, the philosophy that Steiner called Anthroposophy. This book collects seventeen introductions to Steiner's works and lecture courses on spiritual practice, medicine and therapy, social renewal, Western esoteric traditions, and more. They not only introduce the subjects of those books, but also contextualize Steiner's works in relation to the events of the time and those to whom he was speaking. Consequently, in addition to introducing specific works, these introductions also provide background to Rudolf Steiner's own life and work"--

Book Reincarnation and Karma

Download or read book Reincarnation and Karma written by Rudolf Steiner and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2001-05 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 5 lectures, Berlin and Stuttgart, January-March 1912 (CW 135) "Just as an age was once ready to receive the Copernican theory of the universe, so is our own age ready for the ideas of reincarnation and karma to be brought into the general consciousness of humanity." --Rudolf Steiner Steiner introduced the West to his detailed, scientific knowledge of reincarnation and karma. He gave concrete descriptions of the way individuals transform during the course of successive incarnations and specific examples of how karma works. Steiner also provides practical exercises that lead us to experience the reality of reincarnation. He believed that by experiencing the reality of successive earth lives, we can form a foundation for a spiritual understanding of the relationship between humankind and the cosmos. These talks contain some of Steiner's most important teachings on reincarnation and karma. His examples and exercises can lead us to direct knowledge of the laws of reincarnation and karma. Topics include: How to perceive directly the part of our being that passes through many lives on earth; How to develop a "feeling memory," which we need before we are able to experience reincarnation; Thought exercises for gaining knowledge of reincarnation and karma; Examples of how karma works between incarnations; How knowledge of reincarnation and karma affects our moral life. This volume is a translation from German of Wiederverk rperung und Karma und ihre Bedeutung f r die Kultur der Gegenwart.

Book A Western Approach to Reincarnation and Karma

Download or read book A Western Approach to Reincarnation and Karma written by Rudolf Steiner and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 1997 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The soul's immortality and its repeated earthly births are not new ideas in Western thought. They are implicit in the Pythagorean and Platonic traditions, as well as in some branches of esoteric Judaism and Cabbala. But it was not until the early years of this century that the West was given a detailed, modern, evolutionary philosophy of human life based on the reality of reincarnation and karma. This turning point occurred when Rudolf Steiner began to make public the results of his spiritual scientific researches. He viewed the revelation of reincarnation and karma as one of his most important life tasks. Steiner's contribution, however, remains unique in its understanding of the human being as an evolving, developing being of body, soul, and spirit. On the basis of his researches--presented in numerous books and lectures--we begin to understand how the complex interaction of human lives between birth and death and between death and a new birth gives new meaning not only to individual lives lived on Earth in community with others, but also to human history and evolution and to earthly and cosmic events. This book collects many of Steiner's major statements on reincarnation and karma. The primary purpose of this volume is to help readers meet the challenge of spiritual research in the area of individual evolution of the soul and spirit in the context of cultural and universal evolution. Such a study can be tremendously revealing and provide spiritual understanding in a time of increasing intellectual confusion and spiritual poverty. The notion of reincarnation and karma is generally associated in most minds with spiritual traditions of the East, especially Hinduism and Buddhism. Ren Querido's in-depth, sixty-page introduction, however, places these concepts within the context of Western spiritual development and esoteric tradition, showing us a panoramic view of how such ideas have developed over the centuries in the West. Contents: Introduction by Ren Querido: 1 Our Present Dilemma 2 Historical Survey of Reincarnation and Karma 3 Rudolf Steiner's Original Contributions The lectures: 1 Natural and Chance Illnesses in the Human Being 2 Elemental Events, Volcanic Eruptions, Earthquakes & Epidemics in Relation to Karma 3 Death and Rebirth in Relation to Karma 4 Knowledge of Reincarnation and Karma 5 Examples of Karma Working between Two Incarnations 6 Vital Questions in the Light of Reincarnation and Karma 7 The Formation of Karmic Forces 8 Reincarnation of the Spirit and Destiny

Book Karmic Relationships

Download or read book Karmic Relationships written by Rudolf Steiner and published by Rudolf Steiner Press. This book was released on 1971 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the end of his life, Rudolf Steiner took up the task that was his special destiny: to bring to the West a knowledge of reincarnation and karma. To do this, he gave over eighty lectures in 1924 in which he explicitly and concretely revealed the destinies of various individuals from one life to the next in order to show how the general laws of karma operate in individual cases. He also revealed many details of the karmic streams of the members of the Anthroposophical Society. These volumes constitute an immeasurable contribution to the understanding of reincarnation and karma, and the tasks of the Anthroposophical Society in connection with the Archangel Michael.

Book Reincarnation and the Law of Karma

Download or read book Reincarnation and the Law of Karma written by William Walker Atkinson and published by Binker North. This book was released on 1908 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By "Reincarnation" we mean the repeated incarnation, or embodiment in flesh, of the soul or immaterial part of man's nature. The term "Metempsychosis" is frequently employed in the same sense, the definition of the latter term being: "The passage of the soul, as an immortal essence, at the death of the body, into another living body." The term "Transmigration of Souls" is sometimes employed, the term being used in the sense of "passing from one body into another." But the term "Transmigration" is often used in connection with the belief of certain undeveloped races who held that the soul of men sometimes passed into the bodies of the lower animals, as a punishment for their sins committed during the human life. But this belief is held in disrepute by the adherents of Reincarnation or Metempsychosis, and has no connection with their philosophy or beliefs, the ideas having sprung from an entirely different source, and having nothing in common. There are many forms of belief--many degrees of doctrine--regarding Reincarnation, as we shall see as we proceed, but there is a fundamental and basic principle underlying all of the various shades of opinion, and divisions of the schools. This fundamental belief may be expressed as the doctrine that there is in man an immaterial Something (called the soul, spirit, inner self, or many other names) which does not perish at the death or disintegration of the body, but which persists as an entity, and after a shorter or longer interval of rest reincarnates, or is re-born, into a new body--that of an unborn infant--from whence it proceeds to live a new life in the body, more or less unconscious of its past existences, but containing within itself the "essence" or results of its past lives, which experiences go to make up its new "character," or "personality." It is usually held that the rebirth is governed by the law of attraction, under one name or another, and which law operates in accordance with strict justice, in the direction of attracting the reincarnating soul to a body, and conditions, in accordance with the tendencies of the past life, the parents also attracting to them a soul bound to them by some ties in the past, the law being universal, uniform, and equitable to all concerned in the matter. This is a general statement of the doctrine as it is generally held by the most intelligent of its adherents.

Book Reincarnation and Karma An Introduction

Download or read book Reincarnation and Karma An Introduction written by Judith von Halle and published by CLAIRVIEW BOOKS. This book was released on 2022-04-12 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the meaning of life? As human beings, we cannot avoid this most basic question of earthly existence. Is consciousness simply an accident of the universe, as modern science would claim? On the other hand, many established religions suggest that life is a one-time experience, culminating in ‘eternal life’ in heaven or some kind of purgatory or hell. But how could this be equitable, given people’s vastly differing life circumstances? As a response to such questions, the author discusses the concept of reincarnation – the development of individual souls over multiple lifetimes. She examines the idea of fate in relation to one’s occupation. What is more important: a well-paid career or finding one’s true vocation? Are our ‘innate’ talents and abilities the result of a gene-lottery at conception, or could they be related to pre-birth existence – to our own intentions for our forthcoming life on earth? The notion of reincarnation is a pre¬requisite for understanding one’s personal destiny or karma – a personal ‘life plan’ created before our incarnation on earth. Through such ideas, the consciousness of one’s immortal soul-core – our inner being, that exists both before birth and after death – can be awoken. The transcript of this enlightening talk is a stimulating introduction to contemporary perspectives on the ancient teaching of reincarnation and karma.
