Book Strategic Planning in a Regional Technical Education Center

Download or read book Strategic Planning in a Regional Technical Education Center written by Barbara Turner Tansey and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary purpose of this study was to develop a strategic planning model to guide regional technical education centers in the development of a strategic plan for programmatic change. Business and industry have been successful in responding to continuous change in a global economy by using strategic planning processes. Therefore, strategic planning models used in business and industry and public and nonprofit organizations were studied and adapted for use by regional technical education centers. The secondary purpose of this study was to implement the model in a regional technical education center. This purpose was essential to determine the effectiveness of the model in the preparation of a summary report to be compared with advisory committee minutes and the host district's long range plan. The model was implemented using qualitative research methods to collect, assemble, and analyze the data. Five focus groups of regional technical education center stakeholders were conducted by a professional moderator. The focus group proceedings were tape recorded, transcripted and processed through Ethnograph v4.0 for the preparation of a strategic planning summary report. The major findings of the study were: (1) The strategic planning model generated enough previously known and unknown data to develop a strategic summary report describing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, external and internal analyses, and recommendations. (2) The uses of a professional moderator, a moderator's guide and questions, an information overview, Ethnograph v4.0 software, and stakeholder focus groups were effective components of the strategic planning model. (3) The quality of the information collected and the high percentage of stakeholders with prior experience in strategic or long-range planning indicated appropriate categories of stakeholders were selected to participate.

Book School Change Models and Processes

Download or read book School Change Models and Processes written by Marshall Sashkin and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report examines a 30-year history of educational change to identify differing perspectives, strategies, and useful principles. The three most influential perspectives in educational change are the rational-scientific perspective, which proposes that change is created through the dissemination of innovative techniques; the political perspective, which generates change through legislation and other directives outside the school district; and the cultural perspective which seeks improvement through value changes in organizations. There are four strategies for implementing change: fix the parts, fix the people, fix the schools, and fix the system. Systemic education reform offers new hope because it brings together the technical knowledge needed for improvement with a locally sensitive education strategy. Through the Goals 2000 Initiative, the U.S. Department of Education supports reform efforts within the framework of the six National Education Goals. The Department and the Office of Educational Research and Improvement support standards-based assessment techniques. They also assist states in developing curriculum frameworks and help disseminate sound research and practice-based knowledge. A reference bibliography, illustrative programs, and additional sources are included. (JPT)

This book was released on 2015-03-02 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the readers with a map of the higher education systems and strategic management trends in the higher education institutions within countries of the Ibero-America region. The key feature of this volume is the presentation of a conceptual framework as a point of reference for the development of university management systems in a specific context. Furthermore, the book provides an overview of the development of higher education in Latin America and the Caribbean, to advance understanding of the changes observed in the institutional strategic management setting. The book examines and compares the types of strategic management processes used, as well as the models of applicability of strategy-making. This analysis is done by cutting through a critical review of the processes and systems of university management used in the various analysed countries, and pays special attention to the actors involved, the processes, the reporting systems, the expectations and the limitations. Additionally, the book introduces a methodology for the identification and implementation of best practice in university strategic management, and presents practical suggestions about the ways in which processes and models can be used to increase quality and competitive advantage.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "How you spend your resources really does speak to the ethics, morals, and values about what is important. I use these ideas each day to help schools leverage their resources in strategic and creative ways to meet students′ needs." —Mary Nash, Assistant Superintendent Boston Public Schools, MA "A powerful new lens for looking at school resources by fundamentally changing the question from ′How much money do schools need to succeed?′ to ′How well are resources being used to ensure student success?′" —Richard Murnane, Economist and Professor Harvard Graduate School of Education Strategically reorganize school resources to support instructional and performance priorities! How can schools best use the resources they already have? That question is at the heart of this inspiring book for school and district administrators challenged with increasing student performance without additional funding. Exploring the link between purposeful resource allocation and academic achievement, Karen Hawley Miles and Stephen Frank demonstrate how educational leaders can develop successful and strategic schools by assessing how well they use all available resources—people, time, and money—and by creating effective alternatives to meet goals. The authors use their extensive research with urban schools and districts to present case studies of schools that successfully reorganized resources to implement the "Big 3 Guiding Resource Strategies": improving teaching quality, creating individual attention, and maximizing academic time. The Strategic School offers planning guides, checklists, worksheets, and strategies aligned with ISLLC standards to help leaders: Assess current resource use in new ways that go beyond the typical budget review Organize resources more creatively and flexibly Craft a master schedule that works Connect resource allocation to student and school performance

Book Comprehensive Regional Reform

Download or read book Comprehensive Regional Reform written by Guihua Liu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-09-25 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book ambitiously presents the current directions and goals of the Chinese idea of modernization in education. Searching for a neutral way to understand educational reform and policy-making in the midst of many different theories in the field, the authors combine the theories of ecology, regional studies, and educational philosophy to focus on the hot topics relating to the current problems in Chinese education. In addition to the theory of education, it offers an interdisciplinary approach to educational policy and administration, including perspectives from history, evaluation and (big) data processing, modernization, planning-making, curriculum and teaching, element analysis etc. within or beyond the limits of education. This book is a valuable resource for policy-makers and administrators as well as teachers and students majoring in education or related fields. It is also beneficial to those interested in interdisciplinary approaches to educational theory studies and regional studies in education, and practitioners in schools and higher education institutes as well as anyone wanting insights into Chinese education from the perspective of regional studies.

Book Objectives and Strategies for Education Policies in the Baltic Sea Region

Download or read book Objectives and Strategies for Education Policies in the Baltic Sea Region written by Max Hogeforster and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Objectives and strategies for education policies in the Baltic Sea Region The Baltic Sea Region is often considered the most innovative and economically strongest region of Europe. However, these strong developments and dynamics are at risk to face their limits. A rather high unemployment rate exists in many countries in the region, while at the same time, a lack of skilled work force is growing - which might indicate, that the existing qualifications are not in line with the actual demands. A strong commitment is needed from all countries around the Baltic Sea Region, in particular with respect to the most important pillar of any well-working system, the education policy. The whole region is clearly characterised by small- and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). To stay competitive on a global scale, these companies need employees with the best possible qualifications. The text included has been discussed and adopted by the Hanse Parlament, an umbrella organization of 50 Chambers of Crafts and/or Commerce, and the Baltic Sea Academy, a network of 16 academic institutions that closely cooperate for the benefit of SMEs in the region. This publication summarizes the opportunities and challenges to then provide concrete recommendations, from early childhood education, general education, vocational training and higher education. The book includes the identical text in English, German, Polish and Russian language. Bildungspolitische Ziele und Strategien für den Ostseeraum
