Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "We Mind Dwellers live in an endless game of Peekaboo. When there are no signs, and no warm fuzzy feelings, we truly believe that God is not there. We believe that He has checked out and has moved on to bigger and better problems than our own. When we do not see the ducks lined up in a nice, neat row, we fear that God is no longer in control of our lives. We worry, we dread, we dwell, until God, so long-suffering and gracious, reveals Himself to us." Reflections of a Mind Dweller was born out of a desire to reflect upon a personal struggle with worry, anxiety and fear. "Desperate to know if others felt as I felt, I researched. And in my search I found I was not alone. There are others like me - artists, poets, authors, the famous, the infamous, the anonymous - the faceless individuals that, like me, dwell in their minds." Their reflections, as well as the author's are shared in - Reflections of a Mind Dweller.

We may look outside of ourselves for answers, whether to therapists, coaches or others, but ultimately the healing of soul and spirit is an inner quest. Author and transformational psychologist Dr. Marilyn Barrick takes us on a spiritual-psychological journey—the journey of the soul from heaven to earth and back again. She skillfully interweaves psychological interpretation, insights into karma and reincarnation, stories and self-help exercises. To help us on our journey, she examines the lives of real and legendary heroes in their quest for enlightenment. She shows how love and compassion can initiate a healing process for the soul. And through her inspiring meditations and practical exercises, she offers creative ways to help us transform painful experiences of the past.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everything concerning you starts in one place, not around the corner, or at the other end of the world. Everything concerning you is all in your mind.Believe in your heart that all things are possible, and it will be possible. You are no more or less than what you believe. Your life cannot surpass beyond what you believe. It is in the heart of our mind that all possibilities are created. The heart of the mind is where our defeats and victories originate from. Everything that we are or will ever be, will originate from for the heart of our mind. The mind is not just thoughts of pictures, forming into our awareness. The mind it is a creating force that forms substance into our life, according to our ability to imagine, what some call the impossible. The only thing that is impossible are the restrictions that we hold in our mind, that conflict with the barriers of our past learnings. We hold the keys to open every doors of opportunities and we also hold the keys to prison ourselves with the same keys. These keys are our belief system. "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free" The word of God is the law of laws. His word has dominion over every existence in heaven and earth. If you believe this, you will begin to put on the image of God through the creation of his word. Every living being that believes the word of God, in their hearts is being formed after the image of God. The word of God is the nature of God, this is how we take on His images, through his words. When your heart is transformed it has a direct effect on our surroundings, circumstance and everything concerning you. Your life will also be transformed in accordance. When we truly believe in our heart, nothing can change that. When you have two people that are in love with each other, the whole world cannot persuade them otherwise. When you are in love, you will believe each other over everything else. This is the same type of faith we must place in the word of God. It is impossible for God to lie or fail. King Solomon once said, and I quote. "life and death are in the power of the tongue and they that use it will eat the fruits thereof". The tongue gets its power from our heart, just like the fruits of the earth which gets its life from the seed, hidden in the heart of the earth. In the depts of our heart is where our life resides. All of life achievements is in your mind, but only if you placed it there. Without the right thoughts, there can be no satisfying results following. We do not automatically have the keys to success, just as the earth does not automatically produce fruits. The seed of life must first be planted and remain. Like any seed, it must be nourished, and this nourishment comes by continually bringing it to mind. All things are possible in your mind, if this is so, then all things are possible in your life. First the seed then the fruits. First the desired thought the fruits of that thoughts. It is impossible for a seed to bring forth a different type of fruit other than what it is design for, just as it is impossible for you to have a miraculous life without the continual thoughts of success. According to your thoughts be it unto you. you must believe the spirit of thought that gives life over the effects of life. The cause is what makes life happens, not the effects of the cause. You cannot plant an apple seed and get oranges, no more than you can have a mind that is negative and receive positive results. To do this is to delude yourself. Why would you deceive yourself knowingly? your life reflects from you mind.

Book The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind

Download or read book The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind written by Julian Jaynes and published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. This book was released on 2000-08-15 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: National Book Award Finalist: “This man’s ideas may be the most influential, not to say controversial, of the second half of the twentieth century.”—Columbus Dispatch At the heart of this classic, seminal book is Julian Jaynes's still-controversial thesis that human consciousness did not begin far back in animal evolution but instead is a learned process that came about only three thousand years ago and is still developing. The implications of this revolutionary scientific paradigm extend into virtually every aspect of our psychology, our history and culture, our religion—and indeed our future. “Don’t be put off by the academic title of Julian Jaynes’s The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind. Its prose is always lucid and often lyrical…he unfolds his case with the utmost intellectual rigor.”—The New York Times “When Julian Jaynes . . . speculates that until late in the twentieth millennium BC men had no consciousness but were automatically obeying the voices of the gods, we are astounded but compelled to follow this remarkable thesis.”—John Updike, The New Yorker “He is as startling as Freud was in The Interpretation of Dreams, and Jaynes is equally as adept at forcing a new view of known human behavior.”—American Journal of Psychiatry

Book Jesus Is the Question

Download or read book Jesus Is the Question written by Martin B. Copenhaver and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2014-09-02 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contrary to some common assumptions, Jesus is not the ultimate Answer Man, but more like the Great Questioner. In the Gospels Jesus asks many more questions than he answers. To be precise, Jesus asks 307 questions. He is asked 183 of which he only answers 3. Asking questions was central to Jesus’ life and teachings. In fact, for every question he answers directly he asks—literally—a hundred. Jesus is the Question considers the questions Jesus asks—what they tell us about Jesus and, more important, what our responses might say about what it means to follow Him. Through Jesus’ questions, he modeled the struggle, the wondering, the thinking it through that helps us draw closer to God and better understand, not just the answer, but ourselves, our process and ultimately why questions are among Jesus’ most profound gifts for a life of faith. A game-changer of a book.

Book A Dweller on Two Planets The Dividing of the Way

Download or read book A Dweller on Two Planets The Dividing of the Way written by Phylos the Thibetan (Frederick S. Oliver) and published by Library of Alexandria. This book was released on 2020-09-28 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Why not?" I asked myself, pausing amidst the snow on the mountain, there so far above the sea that the Storm King was ever supreme, even while summer reigned below. "Am I not an Atlan, a Poseid, and is not that name synonymous with freedom, honor, power? Is not this, my native land, the most glorious beneath the sun? Beneath Incal?" Again I queried:--"Why not, aye, why not strive to become one amongst the foremost in my proud country?" "Poseid is the Queen of the Sea, yea, and of the world also, since all nations pay tribute of praise and commerce to us--all emulate us. To rule in Poseid, then, is not that virtually to rule over all the earth? Therefore will I strive to grasp the prize, and I will do it, too! And thou, O pale, cold moon, bear witness of my resolve"--I cried aloud, raising my hands to heaven--"And ye also, ye glittering diamonds of the sky." If resolute effort could insure success, I usually achieved whatever end I determined to attain. So there I made my vows at a great height above the ocean, and above the plain which stretched away westward two thousand miles to Caiphul, the Royal City. So high was it, that all about and below me lay peaks and mountain ranges, vast in themselves, but dwarfed beside the apex whereon I stood. All around me lay the eternal snows; but what cared I? So filled with the new resolve was my mind--the resolve to become a power in the land of my nativity--that I heeded not the cold. Indeed, I scarce knew that the air about me was cold, was chill as that of the Arctic fields of the remote north. Many obstacles would have to be surmounted in the accomplishment of this design--for truly, what was I at that moment? Only a mountaineer's son, poor, fatherless; but, the Fates be praised! not motherless! At thought of her, my mother, miles away, down where the perennial forests waved, where snow seldom fell; while I stood on the storm-kissed summit, alone with the night and my thoughts--at the thought of my mother my eyes grew moist, for I was only a boy, and often a sad enough one, when the hardships which she endured arose to mind. Such reflections were but added incentives to my ambition to do and to be. Once more my thoughts dwelt on the difficulties I must encounter in my struggle for success, fame and power. Atlantis, or Poseid, was an empire whose subjects enjoyed the freedom allowed by the most limited monarchical rule, The general law of official succession presented to every male subject a chance for preferment to office. Even the emperor held an elective position, as also did his ministers, the Council of Ninety, or Princes of the Realm--offices analagous to those of the Secretarial Portfolios of the American Republic--its veritable successor. If death claimed the occupant of the throne, or any of the councillors, the elective franchise came into activity, but not otherwise, barring dismissal for malfeasance in office, a penalty which, if incurred by him, not even the emperor was exempt from suffering.

Book excerpt: **2nd place for the 2023 Chicago Folklore Prize** Ayetli gadogv—to "stand in the middle"—is at the heart of a Cherokee perspective of the natural world. From this stance, Cherokee Earth Dwellers offers a rich understanding of nature grounded in Cherokee creature names, oral traditional stories, and reflections of knowledge holders. During his lifetime, elder Hastings Shade created booklets with over six hundred Cherokee names for animals and plants. With this foundational collection at its center, and weaving together a chorus of voices, this book emerges from a deep and continuing collaboration between Christopher B. Teuton, Hastings Shade, Loretta Shade, and others. Positioning our responsibilities as humans to our more-than-human relatives, this book presents teachings about the body, mind, spirit, and wellness that have been shared for generations. From clouds to birds, oceans to quarks, this expansive Cherokee view of nature reveals a living, communicative world and humanity's role within it.
