This fire was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California's history. I spent eight harrowing days trapped at my home in Magalia waiting for the fire to be contained. I evaluated and chose what few personal items I could load into my truck and save. The loss of public utilities and isolation by the fire left me with time on my hands. I had always planned to publish a book with some prose or poetry. I went through my file cabinets and took out several folders with my original poetry and song lyrics. Without the internet, phone service, electricity, or running water, I began to work on my first book of poetry by candlelight. There are three sections to this book. The first section, "Music, Poetry, & Life", reveals my childhood experiences that led to a love of music, poetry, and a lifelong fellowship with like-minded musicians. The second section, "Poetry", consists of fifty-two of my poems, which are the basis for various song lyrics. The third section, "The Camp Fire Experience", is a day-to-day account of my adventures during the Camp Fire (which influenced the creation of this book).
