Book Daily Reflections

Download or read book Daily Reflections written by A a and published by . This book was released on 2017-07-27 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book of reflections by A.A. members for A.A. members. It was first published in 1990 to fulfill a long-felt need within the Fellowship for a collection of reflections that moves through the calendar year--one day at a time. Each page contains a reflection on a quotation from A.A. Conference-approved literature, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, As Bill Sees It and other books. These reflections were submitted by members of the A.A. Fellowship who were not professional writers, nor did they speak for A.A. but only for themselves, from their own experiences in sobriety. Thus the book offers sharing, day by day, from a broad cross section of members, which focuses on the Three Legacies of Alcoholics Anonymous: Recovery, Unity and Service. Daily Reflections has proved to be a popular book that aids individuals in their practice of daily meditation and provides inspiration to group discussions even as it presents an introduction for some to A.A. literature as a whole.

Book Reflections on Reality

Download or read book Reflections on Reality written by Jeffrey Hopkins and published by Motilal Banarsidass Publishe. This book was released on 2007 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second volume in Jeffrey Hopkins' valuable series on the Mind-Only School of Buddhism and a focal description of it in Dzong-Ka-ba's The Essence of Eloquence. Dzong-Ka-ba (1357-1419) is generally regarded as one of the greatest Tibetan philosophers, and his Mind-Only discourse on emptiness is considered a landmark in Buddhist philosophy. In Volume I, Emptiness in the Mind-Only School of Buddhism, Hopkins provided a translation of the introduction and the section on the Mind-Only School in The Essence of Eloquence. The present volume places this enigmatic and influential exposition in its historical and philosophical contexts. Reflections on Reality conveys the intellectual vibrancy of the different cultural interpretations of this text and expands the key philosophical issues it addresses. Hopkins, one of the leading scholarly voices in Tibetan studies, begins this volume with two introductory chapters contextualizing Tibetan scholarship in general. He then goes on to discuss in detail the religious significance of the central topic of the three natures in the Mind-Only School. He also considers various views on the status of reality, including the doctrine of other-emptiness promulgated by the fourteenth century Jo-nang savant Shay-rap-gyel-tsen. Presenting accurate and insightful translations of a large amount of material that has never been available in English before, he shows how these topics have been debated among scholars in Tibet over six centuries. Comparing these with presentations in Europe, Japan, and the United States today, he created a lively conversation between normally disparate voices.

In the end it is important to know whether God exists or He does not exist. There is no third option. What I am seeking to do in this book is to determine which of these beliefs is true and which one is not.

Finally, there are those excited about both poetry and the structure of the language. Three by Four Reflections uses innovative approaches to understanding poetry and grammar and promotes the synergy between meaning and structure as related to the teaching of English overseas. In a story of synergy between father and son that demonstrates ways that meaning and syntactic infrastructure can be taught interactively, students are provided a father's wit and wisdom in poetry and a son's sample sentences sayings that analyze the meaning and structure of the verses. Included are tools for analyzing and synthesizing the English tense system that help make the shared poetry easier to understand for students who want to learn grammar and find the deeper meaning in lyrical verse while simultaneously gaining wisdom from two one mean's insights about life. Three by Four Reflections shares a father and son's unique approach to educating students in other countries about North American poetry, grammar, and how the two work in conjunction with each other.

Book Identification And Suppression of Multiple Reflections in Seismic Prospecting

Download or read book Identification And Suppression of Multiple Reflections in Seismic Prospecting written by Evgeniĭ Alekseevich Kozlov and published by VSP. This book was released on 1988-12 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is concerned with the three main aspects of dealing with multiple reflections in seismic prospecting and aims to substantiate a set of new techniques for their more effective suppression. To increase the accuracy of the Earth's physical parameter estimates (1-D, 2-D and 3-D cases) earlier time intervals for seismic records are used in combination with the subtraction of predicted materials from target intervals in the course of seismic data inversion. The automated identification of multiple events on seismic records in the course of data interpretation is discussed with the aim of improving the reliability with which structural and stratigraphic traps can be located. In order to increase the signal to noise ratio modern techniques for the suppression of multiples (on either 2-D or 3-D records) based on the difference between propagation velocities of multiple and primary waves in the course of data processing are considered. The book provides a description of general concepts then focuses on the methodology of data processing and interpretation; including theory, computational algorithms, stability and noise-immunity considerations. Special attention is given to the practical implementation of the techniques proposed. Finally, using a large amount of both model and real data examples, the book illustrates how to improve the resultant seismic data by the use of developed multiple identification and suppression techniques in various geologic environments.

Book excerpt: In February 2007, I suffered a Stroke, which partially paralyzed the left side of my body. I lost the use of my left hand, which was my dominant hand. I never lost my love for writing poetry. Writing this book has been a healing process for me. My healing and recuperation from this debilitating illness has been very lengthy and tedious. During that time, I did a great deal of reflecting on past experiences as well as on current events and social issues. Expressing myself through poetry has always been a catharsis. Writing poetry allows me to gain and keep perspective. It is fulfilling for me to be able to share my thoughts and feelings with others through this art.
