Book The Influence Line Approach to the Analysis of Rigid Frames

Download or read book The Influence Line Approach to the Analysis of Rigid Frames written by Edward Buckley and published by The Rosen Publishing Group. This book was released on 2003-09-30 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Influence Line Approach to the Analysis of Rigid Frames offers a simple method of analysis of indeterminate structures. It is original and independent of other methods. The author derived these equations by applying an algebraic rather than an arithmetical method of distribution of fixed-end moments. His method is fully explained and illustrated by worked examples. The equations listed in the Tables in The Influence Line Approach to the Analysis of Rigid Frames offer a simple approach to the analysis of rigid frames, including building frames, rendering them statically determinate for any system of loading, static or moving and including the self weight of a structure. Particularly useful aspects to the reader are: -The equations are of an elementary nature consisting only of distribution factors and the co-efficient of a span length and to which values from zero to unity are given. -The equations can be used to analyze frames the members of which can be either of constant or variable cross-section, and in both cases distributions of fixed-end moments are not required. -In addition, the evaluation of fixed-end moments is not required when the frame consists of members of constant cross-section. -The equations are independent of other methods of analysis requiring neither the use of model analysis nor the application of linear equations. -The equations offer a good indication of structural behavior. -The Tables lend themselves to expansion catering for different degrees of end fixation. The Influence Line Approach to the Analysis of Rigid Frames can be taught not only to university undergraduate students, but also to those pursuing middle-level courses in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Building. In addition, practicing assistant structural designers will find it a useful reference work.

Book Structural Analysis

Download or read book Structural Analysis written by Bryant G. Nielson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-09-07 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A balanced approach to structural analysis, including both classical techniques and computer-based analysis The second edition of Structural Analysis: Understanding Behavior a team delivers a complete approach to the subject, expertly balancing the classical techniques of analysis with computer-based analysis experiences involving parametric studies. The book provides students with foundational knowledge in the concepts that come from studying a subset of classical techniques, and strengthens this foundation with the use of structural analysis software in activities designed to promote self-discovery of structural concepts and behaviors. Most problem sets include parametric exercises that are designed to let students discover the influence that various modeling parameters have upon the response of structures. Practicing engineers influenced topical coverage, such as the inclusion of the chapter on the lateral load path in a building and its relevant components ̄a topic for which many graduating students would otherwise find themselves ill prepared. The author has also provided video examples for each chapter demonstrating the processes in the text, and showing problems worked out from start to finish.

Book Structural Analysis

Download or read book Structural Analysis written by Gianluca Ranzi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-07-28 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides Step-by-Step Instruction Structural Analysis: Principles, Methods and Modelling outlines the fundamentals involved in analyzing engineering structures, and effectively presents the derivations used for analytical and numerical formulations. This text explains practical and relevant concepts, and lays down the foundation for a solid mathematical background that incorporates MATLAB® (no prior knowledge of MATLAB is necessary), and includes numerous worked examples. Effectively Analyze Engineering Structures Divided into four parts, the text focuses on the analysis of statically determinate structures. It evaluates basic concepts and procedures, examines the classical methods for the analysis of statically indeterminate structures, and explores the stiffness method of analysis that reinforces most computer applications and commercially available structural analysis software. In addition, it covers advanced topics that include the finite element method, structural stability, and problems involving material nonlinearity. MATLAB® files for selected worked examples are available from the book’s website. Resources available from CRC Press for lecturers adopting the book include: A solutions manual for all the problems posed in the book Nearly 2000 PowerPoint presentations suitable for use in lectures for each chapter in the book Revision videos of selected lectures with added narration Figure slides Structural Analysis: Principles, Methods and Modelling exposes civil and structural engineering undergraduates to the essentials of structural analysis, and serves as a resource for students and practicing professionals in solving a range of engineering problems.
