Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Story of Redemption: From Paradise Lost to Paradise Restored The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Rom.6 : 23.Redemption, in a Scripture sense, and as contemplated in this volume, is the giving of eternal life to a race of beings justly under sentence of eternal death. "By one man Adam sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." Chapter 5:12. Therefore all are by nature under condemnation of death. So also redemption has been offered to every one: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. But this Gift for man's redemption does not inure to the individual without an unqualified acceptance, on plainly specified terms. There must be belief in the Son. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and "He that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." Verse 36. Another condition is, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1 :9. Then our short existence or probation in this world is a matter of life or death to all eternity. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. This book was released on 2011-04-29 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book studies the interplay of theology and poetics in the three great epics of early modern England, the Faerie Queene, Paradise Lost, and Paradise Regained. Book A Study of Redemption

Download or read book A Study of Redemption written by Melissa E. Newfield and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Milton wrote his 1667 Restoration era epic poem, Paradise Lost, with every intention of changing the way people view God and their relationship with Him. Milton struggles to attain this change by advocating individual redemption through personal interpretation of the Bible. Though director Quentin Tarantino did not imitate Milton in form or medium, his 1994 cult film, Pulp Fiction, is both an epic and a postmodern masterpiece that advocates a similar idea of redemption. Paradise Lost and Pulp Fiction belong together in a study of redeption for reasons that go deeper than their indivdually respective scope and cultural relevance. Both of these texts epitomize the time in which they occurred - the Restoration era in England and the contemporary postmodern era. The individualistic nature of the redemption in our postmodern society has its roots in the Protestant doctrines and texts of Restoration era England. Beginning with settlers and their interpretations of the Bible in order to license violence, the democracy of the "word-based" take on the scripture and Christianity has blended naturally with our postmodern multiplicity. The purpose of this thesis is to establish a connection between the two works and also to consider how the two works' depiction of redemption is influenced by cultural ideals in each time period.
