Book Redefining the Process of Retirement

Download or read book Redefining the Process of Retirement written by Winfried Schmähl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Past and future development as well as possibilities for influencing the process of retirement are discussed, in particular effects on the labour market (supply and demand, behaviour of workers and firms, concerning human resource management and occupational pensions), financing of social security and income of workers. Decisions concerning earlier or postponed, full or partial retirement are the main topic stressing the central role of firms' decisions depending e.g. on their view of the productivity of the elderly. Reports on Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland) in particular on their approach for partial retirement are included as well as papers discussing possibilities to stop the trend of early exit from the labour force and how to give incentives for a longer working life (e.g. by changes in social security). These topics are discussed in the view of structural changes in demography, economy and society, using - among other - the US and West Germany as examples. The papers point out the necessity to look at retirement as a process (in a life cycle perspective, requiring longitudinal data for empirical research) and in a perspective integrating the different aspects involved.

Book Time for Retirement

Download or read book Time for Retirement written by Martin Kohli and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1991-11-29 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In all Western countries, people are leaving work earlier than ever before - at a time when their life expectancy keeps increasing. How has this paradoxical process been brought about? What is the impact of labour markets and social policy? And what will be the effect of this massive lengthening of retirement? Time for Retirement addresses the 'aging of society' and the restructuring of the life course in terms of the changing relationship between work and reitrement. Detailed information based on the retirement policies of seven countries provides the basis for a comparative analysis aimed at assessing the range of possible political responses to these changes. The editors and contributors are among the leading social scientists in the field of life-course studies, aging, and social policy.

With this information he can successfully counsel on strategy and develop a comprehensive plan for a client's worry-free retirement.

In her timely and thought-provoking book, Cindy gives a unique macro perspective of what she calls “the hidden forces behind your money,” which are the unseen political and economic forces that may influence your investment decisions. Through meticulous research, Cindy shows how these hidden forces have contributed to a complex retirement system, which includes pensions, social security, and what she believes is the outdated 60/40 investment model. To address this issue, Cindy spent endless hours developing a new multi-asset class investment methodology, known as the REALM model, that may offer broader investment strategies aimed to mitigate risk from the hidden forces that may negatively impact your goals. Redefining Financial Literacy can help you • Understand the complex macro forces that you cannot control, yet could determine your financial future, • Take actionable steps to regain command of your retirement strategy, • Build a retirement with potential durable income strategies, lesser volatility, and risk-adjusted returns. Redefining Financial Literacy and Cindy’s innovative REALM model can open your eyes to investment possibilities while helping you regain confidence in the American dream. Empowered aging is not merely about growing older gracefully; it is about embracing a fulfilling and vibrant life at any age. It is a mindset that defies societal expectations and stereotypes, and instead encourages individuals to take control of their own aging journey. Our perceptions of aging have undergone a significant shift in recent years. Long gone are the days when growing older was associated solely with decline and limitations. Today, there is a growing recognition of the immense potential and opportunities that come with advancing years. It is a time when accumulated wisdom, experience, and personal growth can flourish. The need for a more positive and proactive approach to aging has become increasingly apparent. With advancements in healthcare and technology, we are living longer, healthier lives than ever before. However, to fully benefit from these advancements, we must also address the social, psychological, and emotional aspects of aging. It is time to challenge the prevailing narrative of aging as a period of decline and dependence. Empowered aging encourages us to redefine our understanding of what it means to grow older. It urges us to shift our focus from limitations to possibilities, from societal expectations to personal fulfillment.
