Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Redeem Yourself speaks about a willingness to change your life and the pitfall(s) that youth are facing such as drugs, education, economy and mass incarceration. Through the eyes of one who's been redeemed, we should remain strong and think positive. You ought to have faith and a strong belief that everything will be alright. Turning one's life around can be difficult but not impossible. You need to have a strong constition to change. No one is without a blemish and it is not something to be ashamed of. It's a reminder of a wounded past that can be used to heal others. We all have been damaged, but it should not be a reason to be discouraged. There is always a choice to be buried in depression or we can use the situation to become a better person and be a good example. The Civil Rights Movement began in the South many years ago. Civil right leaders fought for the rights of people. Leaders marched for equal rights, jobs, education, fair housing and the right to vote. Since Dr. Martin Luther King's death, we have lost much in his accomplishments and it appears his cause might've been neglected. President Barack Obama has inherited the fall of America. The education institutions are falling apart, politics and the economy are in a shamble. This man became President at a time like this because much of the nation has failed its people, and he's expected to deliver America from its disater. The real crime in America are being committed by greedy people who manipulate government legislation, law enforcement practicies and criminal justice policy to make youth commodities for other people to make a living and prosper. economy! What we are witnessing and experiencing with respect to the economy situation in America is serious. We should not take for granted that everything will turn out alright. Many citizens in the United States have lost confidence in the laws that are written in the United States Constitution. People are seeking solutions to some of the hardships they face today, while also attempting to learn about and regain their constitutional rights. African Americans are involved in crime, substance abuse, suicides, incarceration, feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, poverty, poor health and unrealized potential in academic and occupational pursuits. Until we address these crimes in the Black community, youth will continue to die and not live up to their dreams. How the laws are design to in trap young people, and how mass incarceration has become a billion dollar industry. I motivate people against incarceration and a guide to succeed upon being release. We must provide an education that proposes our youth to become a viable part of society. they must have economic alternatives and practical reasons not to engage in negative, destructive behaviors. We have not helped young men to obtain the necessary skills to be successful in life. One in three U.S. high school students drop out before graduating and more than 1.2 million students drop out every year. Statistics reveal students dropping out of school will cost the nation nearly three hundred thirty billion dollars over their life time in lost wages, taxes and productivity. Pastor Sherrod speaks about slavery returning to America. Slavery has been abolished for over two hundred years. President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation for Negro people to be free. Slavery in America today is not working in the fields, picking tobacco or cotton. Prisons have become America's new plantation, where prisoners are force to provide cheap labor; that can be used to increase the economy. Despite our enslavement more than four hundred years ago, our ancestors never gave up. They did have faith that the cream would once again rise to the top, but lately a sense of hopelessness seems to have invaded our spirits. This book will allow Americans to visualize their struggles to obtain the American dream, but denied various opportunities.

Book Discovering Your Soul Mission

Download or read book Discovering Your Soul Mission written by Linda Brady and published by Three Rivers Press (CA). This book was released on 1998 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you have a nagging feeling that somehow your life has gotten off track, Discovering Your Soul Mission can help you create the most fulfilling life possible. Karmic astrologer and holistic teacher Linda Brady, along with coauthor Evan St. Lifer, shows how the desires of our personalities--what we think we want--clash with the needs of our souls--what will make us truly happy. In order to pinpoint your soul mission, Brady uses the technique of karmic astrology, which--unlike the more familiar sun-sign astrology--delves into areas known previously only to the cognoscenti. With this easy-to-use method, you do not have to get an astrological chart. All the required information is provided to instantly discover the sign ruling your soul mission. You will learn your Soul Pattern sign, which governs old habits you need to let go, and your Soul Potential sign, which indicates your latent qualities and hidden talents that must be developed to follow your true path. Virgo perfectionism, for instance, can give way to Pisces intuition, Sagittarian procrastination to Gemini creativity. Brady then offers numerous meditation, journaling, dreamwork, and other exercises to explore and incorporate your soul mission into your current life. Other planetary influences also shape the particular flavor of your mission. For example, the book includes tables to find out what sign rules your style of communication and shows you how to use that personal style to further enhance your mission. This lively, interactive handbook will set you on your true path.

I am still alive, in bones, flesh and blood,” you are probably saying. You are right, but as long as your spirit has not yet been regenerated you are dead. And it takes only the person of Jesus Christ to give you life, and "give it more abundantly." Book From Unconciousness to Consciousness

Download or read book From Unconciousness to Consciousness written by Osho and published by Fivestar. This book was released on 2023-09-16 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After one thousand, three hundred and fifteen days of silence, it feels as if I am coming to you from a totally different world. In fact it is so. The world of words, language, concepts, and the world of silence are so diametrically opposite to each other, they don’t meet anywhere. They can’t meet by their very nature. Silence means a state of wordlessness; and to speak now, it is as if to learn language again from ABC. But this is not a new experience for me; it has happened before too.

Book A Curse on Dostoevsky

  • Author : Atiq Rahimi

  • ISBN : 159051548X

Download or read book A Curse on Dostoevsky written by Atiq Rahimi and published by Other Press, LLC. This book was released on 2014-03-04 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reading Dostoevsky in Afghanistan becomes “crime without punishment” Rassoul remembers reading Crime and Punishment as a student of Russian literature in Leningrad, so when, with axe in hand, he kills the wealthy old lady who prostitutes his beloved Sophia, he thinks twice before taking her money or killing the woman whose voice he hears from another room. He wishes only to expiate his crime and be rightfully punished. Out of principle, he gives himself up to the police. But his country, after years of civil war, has fallen into chaos. In Kabul there is only violence, absurdity, and deafness, and Rassoul’s desperate attempt to be heard turns into a farce. This is a novel that not only flirts with literature but also ponders the roles of sin, guilt, and redemption in the Muslim world. At once a nostalgic ode to the magic of Persian tales and a satire on the dire reality of now, A Curse on Dostoevsky also portrays the resilience and wit of Afghani women, an aspect of his culture that Rahimi never forgets.

Book The Beauty of the Infinite

  • Publisher : Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing
  • Release : 2004-10-29
  • ISBN : 1467421324

Download or read book The Beauty of the Infinite written by David Bentley Hart and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2004-10-29 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Beauty of the Infinite is a splendid extended essay in "theological aesthetics." David Bentley Hart here meditates on the power of a Christian understanding of beauty and sublimity to rise above the violence -- both philosophical and literal -- characteristic of the postmodern world. The book begins by tracing the shifting use and nature of metaphysics in the thought of Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Lyotard, Derrida, Deleuze, Nancy, Levinas, and others. Hart pays special attention to Nietzsche's famous narrative of the "will to power" -- a narrative largely adopted by the world today -- and he offers an engaging revision (though not rejection) of the genealogy of nihilism, thereby highlighting the significant "interruption" that Christian thought introduced into the history of metaphysics. This discussion sets the stage for a retrieval of the classic Christian account of beauty and sublimity, and of the relation of both to the question of being. Written in the form of a dogmatica minora, this main section of the book offers a pointed reading of the Christian story in four moments, or parts: Trinity, creation, salvation, and eschaton. Through a combination of narrative and argument throughout, Hart ends up demonstrating the power of Christian metaphysics not only to withstand the critiques of modern and postmodern thought but also to move well beyond them. Strikingly original and deeply rewarding, The Beauty of the Infinite is both a constructively critical account of the history of metaphysics and a compelling contribution to it.

Book excerpt: "Like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow in respect to salvation." 1 Peter 2:2 It's a fact of life: our health declines if we don't nourish our bodies every day with food and water. That's true physically. It's true spiritually as well. If we neglect to regularly feed our souls on the Holy Scriptures, our faith becomes weak and we start to lose touch with our Savior. Growth is stifled... if it happens at all. Drawing Near, used daily in combination with God's Holy Word, can not only help bring you closer to God but also keep you from spiritual stagnation. This book will guide you in a growing relationship with Him. As Pastor MacArthur says in his Introduction: "Our entertainment-conscious, quick-fix, fast-food society does everything it can to divert us from setting aside time to study God's Word. As you well know from your own efforts, Bible study is not often entertaining—it's hard work. It takes discipline to set aside time each day to reap the benefits such study has to offer. If you reach an impasse when it's time to sit down, open your Bible, and try to decide what to do, you're not alone. Without some plan to follow, it's easy to become frustrated and eventually give up after only one or two days. That's where this book comes in." If you desire greater understanding of the precious Word of God, if you want a daily guide to draw you closer to the Lord, this outstanding collections of 365 devotional readings by one of America's most respected and trusted Bible teachers is for you!

Book excerpt: This is a book of history, ethics, and philosophy. It is a record of teachings passed down through the generations from the East and the West. It contains the fullness of the sealed covenant established between man and the laws of the universe. As we evolve as a race, we take things out of our lives because we better understand who we are and what we have achieved. The divine refers to the laws of nature and the universe that guide us in our everyday lives. The creator that guides our everyday lives is not something that we should worship or pray to out of fear or love; it is something that remains unseen and works in natural forces to explain all the events that happen on Earth. It is merely a force and it is not necessary to belong to a group to experience the light. The path to the light is straight and broad. The creator of the universe is a divine and intellectual force, by which all things came into being. The sealed covenant is a pact between all of humanity to the world around us and the universal laws that guide our everyday lives to come together and love one another and come to make the world a better place for all people. This shall usher in the evolution of religious traditions and humanity to a new age of prosperity.
