Book Circularly Polarized Dielectric Resonator Antennas

Download or read book Circularly Polarized Dielectric Resonator Antennas written by Raghvendra Kumar Chaudhary and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2021-08-31 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces 5 key feeding techniques such as coaxial probe, microstrip, conformal strip, aperture, and coplanar waveguide and covers different shapes of dielectric resonator antennas leading to improvement in circularly polarized (CP) performance. It introduces advancements in the field of dielectric resonator antennas and dilectric resonator antennas (DRAs). Five different types of feeding techniques (i.e. coaxial probe, microstrip, conformal strip, aperture, and coplanar waveguide) are described for obtaining CP followed by two modified shaped DRA (sector DRAs). Throughout this book, rectangular and circular with their modified shapes of the dielectric resonator are utilized, providing differing degrees of freedom as well as different variable parameters, including length, width, height, radius, aspect ratio and dielectric constant, which are tuned to obtain the desired antenna parameters.

Book Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antennas Fed by Dielectric Image Guide

Download or read book Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antennas Fed by Dielectric Image Guide written by Asem S. Al-Zoubi and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: A linear array of rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is studied. The array is excited by a dielectric image guide. The advantages of using the dielectric image guide (DIG) are the low losses at high frequencies, and wideband performance. Two different methods of coupling between the dielectric resonator elements and the image guide are investigated. The first method of coupling is to couple the image guide to narrow apertures (slots) that are in turn exciting the dielectric resonator elements. Two problems are found in this design. First, this design causes high return losses around the slot resonances. This problem is resolved by adding a reflection cancelling slot near each main slot. The second problem is the high back radiation. This problem is resolved also by using a conducting reflector on the DIG feeding side of the antenna. The second method of excitation is the proximity coupling method between the dielectric resonator antennas and the DIG. Coupling analysis and design of single element and two different arrays are performed. It is found that this design achieve low back radiation, but high cross polarization. The cross polarization is reduced by suppressing some high order modes that are excited in the DRA elements. This suppression of these modes is performed by wrapping the middle of each DRA by a conducting strip. The coupling between the DRA and the DIG is controlled by the separation distance between them. A Dolph-Chebyshev amplitude distribution is used to control the sidelobe level of the far field radiation patterns. A prototype was build for each design from a 7-element array. The measured and computed results are in good agreement. Two 15-elemet arrays are studied numerically and show that to improve the antenna efficiency, and a reasonable number of elements must be used to couple most of the input power to the radiating elements.

The main purpose of this book is to embed mathematical EM theory of dielectric resonator antennas with experimental validation so that understanding of concepts takes place. Initially, basic understanding of philosophy of dielectric resonators has been discussed, then it is supported with mathematical modeling and later same is implemented with its prototype model along with experimentations. The modes theory gives important analysis on currents distribution, impedance analysis and radiation pattern in DRA. Circular polarization can built signal robustness, case studies on circular polarization has been included. Equivalent RLC circuit concept has been introduced. Challenges of switching from microwave to terahertz has been briefly discussed. Nano DRA will revolutionize the wireless technology. Nano DRA ,Terahertz DRA and Quantum DRA have analyzed and studied.

Book Dielectric Resonator Antennas

Download or read book Dielectric Resonator Antennas written by Kwai Man Luk and published by Research Studies Press Limited. This book was released on 2003 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of dielectric resonator as a resonant antenna was proposed in 1983. Due to the absence of metallic loss, the dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is highly efficient when operated at millimetre wave frequencies. With the use of high dielectric constant material, the DRA can also be used as a small and low profile antenna operated at low microwave frequencies. Low cost dielectric materials are now easily available commercially, encouraging more antenna engineers to design communication systems with DRAs.

Book Analysis of Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antennas Excited Through a Slot Over a Finite Ground Plane

Download or read book Analysis of Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antennas Excited Through a Slot Over a Finite Ground Plane written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, the Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) radiating element has been the subject of considerable interest due to its small size and high efficiency. The rigorous analysis of DRA elements, however, has been largely restricted to rotationally symmetric shapes. Other shapes have been analyzed, however, often based on an infinite ground plane assumption which restricts the use of the DRA as a single element for some applications that require finite size ground plane. Various numerical techniques have been used in the analysis of the DRA. The spherical mode expansion was used to analyze a hemispherical DRA. The Surface Integral Equation with the Method of Moments (SIE/MoM) has been used to analyze a rotationally symmetric DRA. The modal expansion method with some approximation was used in to analyze the rectangular DRA, and the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method has been used to analyze a rectangular DRA and cylindrical DRA with a staircased cell approximation. Here the rectangular DRA is considered over a finite ground plane with a microstrip slot excitation. The SIE/MoM is used with the RWG triangle basis function expansion. Using the triangle basis functions allows modeling of arbitrarily shaped objects. Also, the FDTD method is used to analyze the same problem for the purpose of verifying both methods. The effect of the ground plane size and the dielectric substrate truncation is studied.

Book Mutual Coupling Between Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antenna Elements

Download or read book Mutual Coupling Between Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antenna Elements written by Defence Research Establishment Ottawa and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) have been suggested as a potentially efficient antenna for use in Personal Communication Systems, Global Positioning Systems and wireless computer networks. They offer several advantages, such as high efficiency, large bandwidth, low profile, small size, ease of fabrication, and low production cost. This paper examines characteristics of the rectangular DRA, both as individual radiating elements as well as elements in array environments. Numerical methods are used to obtain detailed information with respect to the resonant frequency, bandwidth, scattering parameters, input impedance, field structures and radiation patterns on which DRA design is based. This obtained information is then used to help in understanding and quantizing the interaction between elements in close proximity, i.e. mutual coupling. This coupling analysis provides important information for the array design process, as well as the necessary information required to positively exploit these coupling characteristics. The simulation software provides data that very closely matches both experimentation and the theoretical models. Mutual coupling measurements indicate that, beyond a spacing of one half-wavelength, there is very little mutual interaction. This mutual coupling was exploited at lesser distances however with parasitically coupled dielectric elements used to create novel single feed multi-element antennas with altered resonant frequencies, increased bandwidth and enhanced radiation patterns, as compared to a single element.
