NOUS AVONS APPLIQUE NOS RECHERCHES AU CAS PARTICULIER DE LA RECONNAISSANCE DE CHEQUES BANCAIRES. CE TRAITEMENT GLOBAL D'UN TEXTE MANUSCRIT SE DECOMPOSE EN PLUSIEURS ETAPES QUI SONT: L'EXTRACTION DU TRACE, LA SEGMENTATION EN PHRASES, EN MOTS, EN GRAPHEMES, SUIVI D'UNE RECONNAISSANCE DE GRAPHEMES, PUIS DE MOTS, ENFIN DE PHRASES. NOTRE ETUDE PORTE SUR LA RECONNAISSANCE DE GRAPHEMES. LES PARTICULARITES DE NOTRE SOLUTION CONCERNENT LES POINTS SUIVANTS. -L'OBTENTION DES FORMES CARACTERISTIQUES SE FAIT EN RECHERCHANT SUR L'IMAGE LES TRAITS DANS LES QUATRE DIRECTIONS HORIZONTALES, VERTICALES, +45#-, -45#-, ON EN DEDUIT LES PRIMITIVES QUI, DANS NOTRE CAS, SONT AU NOMBRE DE SIX: LES BOUCLES, LES COURBES, LES SEGMENTS, LES SEGMENTS AYANT UNE EXTREMITE LIBRE, LES POINTS SINGULIERS ET LA NOTION D'ASCENDANT/DESCENDANT. UNE PRIMITIVE EST REPEREE PAR SES COORDONNEES DANS L'IMAGE RAPPORTEE A UN QUADRILLAGE 5X5 ET PAR SA TAILLE. -L'APPRENTISSAGE SE FAIT EN ACCUMULANT LES EXEMPLES DANS UNE STRUCTURE, OU TABLEAU APPELE GABARIT. ON CONSTRUIT UN GABARIT PAR CLASSE A RECONNAITRE ET PAR PRIMITIVE. -LA RECONNAISSANCE PAR GABARITS CONSISTE A AFFECTER A CHACUNE DES CLASSES POUR CHACUNE DES PRIMITIVES, UN SCORE. LA FONCTION DE RECONNAISSANCE ASSOCIEE A UNE PRIMITIVE EST APPELEE OPERATEUR. -LA COMBINAISON DES OPERATEURS TRANSFORME LES LISTES DE REPONSES ORDONNEES SUIVANT LEUR PROBABILITES EN UNE LISTE UNIQUE. -LA RECOMBINAISON A POUR BUT DE REARRANGER, AUTREMENT DIT DE CORRIGER, LA LISTE DE REPONSES PRECEDENTE. POUR CELA, UN SECOND APPRENTISSAGE EST EFFECTUE SUR UNE AUTRE BASE D'EXEMPLES DITE BASE D'AJUSTEMENT. CET APPRENTISSAGE DONNE UNE REPRESENTATION DU COMPORTEMENT DU SYSTEME. LA RECOMBINAISON SE BASE SUR LA CONNAISSANCE A PRIORI APPORTEE PAR LA PREMIERE RECONNAISSANCE POUR EFFECTUER UNE SECONDE RECONNAISSANCE CETTE FOIS DE TYPE GUIDEE PAR LES MODELES DANS LAQUELLE LES OPERATEURS A PRENDRE EN COMPTE SONT CHOISIS EN FONCTION DE CET A PRIORI ET DONC DIFFERENTS DANS CHAQUE CAS. LES RESULTATS OBTENUS SONT DE 49% POUR LA PREMIERE REPONSE, 67% POUR LES DEUX PREMIERES ET 88% POUR LES CINQ PREMIERES. LES COMPARAISONS AVEC D'AUTRES SYSTEMES SONT DIFFICILES, CEPENDANT SANS PROPOSER LA METHODE LA PLUS PERFORMANTE NOTRE TECHNIQUE PRESENTE DES RESULTATS TRES SATISFAISANTS PERMETTANT UNE INTERPRETATION DU COMPORTEMENT DU SYSTEME EN MANIPULANT DES IDEES ET DES REPRESENTATIONS SIMPLES A METTRE EN UVRE, PEU ENCOMBRANTES EN MEMOIRE, ET RAPIDES A L'EXECUTION

Book Expanding the Lexicon

Download or read book Expanding the Lexicon written by Sabine Arndt-Lappe and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-01-22 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The creation of new lexical units and patterns has been studied in different research frameworks, focusing on either system-internal or system-external aspects, from which no comprehensive view has emerged. The volume aims to fill this gap by studying dynamic processes in the lexicon – understood in a wide sense as not being necessarily limited to the word level – by bringing together approaches directed to morphological productivity as well as approaches analyzing general types of lexical innovation and the role of discourse-related factors. The papers deal with ongoing changes as well as with historical processes of change in different languages and reflect on patterns and specific subtypes of lexical innovation as well as on their external conditions and the speakers’ motivations for innovating. Moreover, the diffusion and conventionalization of innovations will be addressed. In this way, the volume contributes to understanding the complex interplay of structural, cognitive and functional factors in the lexicon as a highly dynamic domain.

Book A History of Reading in the West

Download or read book A History of Reading in the West written by Guglielmo Cavallo and published by Univ of Massachusetts Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Literature has not always been written in the same ways, nor has it been received or read in the same ways over the course of Western civilization. Cavallo (Greek palaeography, U. of Rome La Sapienza), Chartier (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris) and a number of other international contributors, address themes that highlight the transformation of reading methods and materials over the ages, such as the way texts in the Middle Ages were often written with the voice in mind, as they would have been read aloud, or even sung. Articles explore the innovations in the physical evolution of the book, as well as the growth and development of a broad-based reading public.

Book excerpt: Cause for jubilation: One of America’s wisest and most necessary voices has distilled what he knows about politics, broadly speaking, into one magnificent volume. Here at last are Henrik Hertzberg’s most significant, hilarious, and devastating dispatches from the American scene he has chronicled for four decades with an uncanny blend of moral seriousness, high spirits, and perfect rhetorical pitch. Politics is at once the story of American life from LBJ to GWB and a testament to the power of the written word in the right hands. In those hands, politics encompasses everyone from Jerry Garcia to Rush Limbaugh, every place from New Hampshire to Nicaragua, and everything from Playboy vs. Penthouse to Bush vs. Gore. Hendrik Hertzberg breaks down American politics into its component parts—campaigns, debates, rhetoric, the media, wars (cultural, countercultural, and real), high crimes and misdemeanors, the right, and more. Each section begins with a new piece of writing framing the subject at hand and contains the choicest, most illuminating pieces from his body of work. Politics is a tour of the defining moments of American life from the mid-’60s till the mid-’00s, a ride though recent American history with one of the most insightful and engaging guides imaginable, a writer who consistently makes us see more clearly and feel more deeply. “Politics is invaluable for all sorts of reasons—chief among them being decades of elegant writing in the service of surgical intelligence.”—Toni Morrison

Book Elements of Structural Syntax

Download or read book Elements of Structural Syntax written by Lucien Tesnière and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2015-02-11 with total page 782 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume appears now finally in English, sixty years after the death of its author, Lucien Tesnière. It has been translated from the French original into German, Spanish, Italian, and Russian, and now at long last into English as well. The volume contains a comprehensive approach to the syntax of natural languages, an approach that is foundational for an entire stream in the modern study of syntax and grammar. This stream is known today as dependency grammar (DG). Drawing examples from dozens of languages, many of which he was proficient in, Tesnière presents insightful analyses of numerous phenomena of syntax. Among the highlights are the concepts of valency and head-initial vs. head-final languages. These concepts are now taken for granted by most modern theories of syntax, even by phrase structure grammars, which represent, in a sense, the opposite sort of approach to syntax from what Tesnière was advocating.
