Book Recent Developments on Structural Equation Models

Download or read book Recent Developments on Structural Equation Models written by Kees van Montfort and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-03-31 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After Karl Jöreskog's first presentation in 1970, Structural Equation Modelling or SEM has become a main statistical tool in many fields of science. It is the standard approach of factor analytic and causal modelling in such diverse fields as sociology, education, psychology, economics, management and medical sciences. In addition to an extension of its application area, Structural Equation Modelling also features a continual renewal and extension of its theoretical background. The sixteen contributions to this book, written by experts from many countries, present important new developments and interesting applications in Structural Equation Modelling. The book addresses methodologists and statisticians professionally dealing with Structural Equation Modelling to enhance their knowledge of the type of models covered and the technical problems involved in their formulation. In addition, the book offers applied researchers new ideas about the use of Structural Equation Modeling in solving their problems. Finally, methodologists, mathematicians and applied researchers alike are addressed, who simply want to update their knowledge of recent approaches in data analysis and mathematical modelling.

This publication is dedicated to Professor Göbel, who passed away in 2014. He was one of the leading experts in Abelian group theory.

Book Location Theory and Decision Analysis

Download or read book Location Theory and Decision Analysis written by Yupo Chan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-26 with total page 726 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Employing state-of-the art quantitative models and case studies, Location Theory and Decision Analysis provides the methodologies behind the siting of such facilities as transportation terminals, warehouses, housing, landfills, state parks and industrial plants. Through its extensive methodological review, the book serves as a primer for more advanced texts on spatial analysis, including the monograph on Location, Transport and Land-Use by the same author. Given the rapid changes over the last decade, the Second Edition includes new analytic contributions as well as software survey of analytics and spatial information technology. While the First Edition served the professional community well, the Second Edition has substantially expanded its emphasis for classroom use of the volume. Extensive pedagogic materials have been added, going from the fundamental principles to open-ended exercises, including solutions to selected problems. The text is of value to engineering and business programs that offer courses in Decision and Risk Analysis, Muticriteria Decision-Making, and Facility Location and Layout. It should also be of interest to public policy programs that use geographic Information Systems and satellite imagery to support their analyses.

Book Mathematical Location and Land Use Theory

Download or read book Mathematical Location and Land Use Theory written by Tönu Puu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-11-02 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition covers all main topics of spatial economics, plant location, and the theory of nested market areas. The book starts from the classical models of the space economy which are stated in terms of precise mathematical models. Especially, the book offers a lavish supply of computer graphics to make the results easily understandable. Extracts from reviews to the first edition: "This book is an excellent introduction to the theory of continuous location of economic activities in two-dimensional space based on differential equations and to their solution by vector calculus methods. As Puu states "good science is to be easily understood. This book is, indeed, a lucid and easily readable introduction to the fundamental concepts of spatial economic theory and the differential calculus machinery of the continuous transportation model." K. C. Mosler in "Location Science" "This book represents an honest attempt at introducing spatial economic theory. The author does not appear to be interested in showing off his obvious mathematical skills. His intention is to summarize the accumulated knowledge in the field and present the main results in a simple manner. He does an admirable job. Of help are the high-quality graphics, the omission of semicooked ideas and messy results, and the author's extensive experience on the subject over a long period of time." P. S. Kanaroglou in "Environment and Planning"

Book Current Topics in the Theory and Application of Latent Variable Models

Download or read book Current Topics in the Theory and Application of Latent Variable Models written by Michael C. Edwards and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-12-12 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents recent developments in the theory and application of latent variable models (LVMs) by some of the most prominent researchers in the field. Topics covered involve a range of LVM frameworks including item response theory, structural equation modeling, factor analysis, and latent curve modeling, as well as various non-standard data structures and innovative applications. The book is divided into two sections, although several chapters cross these content boundaries. Part one focuses on complexities which involve the adaptation of latent variables models in research problems where real-world conditions do not match conventional assumptions. Chapters in this section cover issues such as analysis of dyadic data and complex survey data, as well as analysis of categorical variables. Part two of the book focuses on drawing real-world meaning from results obtained in LVMs. In this section there are chapters examining issues involving assessment of model fit, the nature of uncertainty in parameter estimates, inferences, and the nature of latent variables and individual differences. This book appeals to researchers and graduate students interested in the theory and application of latent variable models. As such, it serves as a supplementary reading in graduate level courses on latent variable models. Prerequisites include basic knowledge of latent variable models.
