The Communist party, the tiny Trotskyist movement, and the New Left have all been abundantly chronicled. Very little information has been available, however, about the radical left today. "Far Left of Center "remedies that deficit. Many people erroneously assume that with the collapse of the New Left in the early 1970s, American radicalism disappeared. It is true that the 1980s have not been good years for radicals. Their ideologies, particularly Marxism-Leninism, have been discredited, their tactics and visions have been repudiated, and they have been plagued by internal problems. Even so, the history of American radicalism suggests that such movements have rebounded in the past; and in any event, Marxist-Leninist groups have often had an impact far out of proportion to their size. Part One deals with the Communist party of the United States, the largest and most influential Marxist-Leninist group in the United States. Its membership is only about 15,000, but it has been growing steadily in recent years. This section also discusses a variety of front groups which the party has created to facilitate work and to garner support from people who would not otherwise cooperate with Communists. Part Two deals with Trotskyist, Maoist, and other Marxist-Leninist organizations in the United States. Far more militant than the CPUSA, these sects are usually quite small, often under a thousand members. They include the tiny offshoots of the New Left. Part Three deals with organizations that eschew formal ties to Marxist-Leninist parties and are not under the control of these parties, although they may work with them toward some of the same objectives. Many of these have especially targeted Israel as a danger to world peace and security. They are also hostile to American foreign policy and support Marxist revolutionary regimes abroad. The basic premise of "Far Left of Center "is that these far-left groups support and defend oppressive and totalitarian regimes, and cooperate with those dedicated to the destruction of democracy and intellectual freedom. The author is careful to distinguish these groups from democratic socialists in the United States, who have vigorously and continuously denounced Marxism-Leninism and those regimes founded on its principles. This book is not about these organizations. The focus is, instead, on groups whose denunciations of American society and political life go hand-in-hand with testimonials to some of the most repressive regimes in the world. Klehr has written a sober, well documented, comprehensive account of the radical left in the United States today.

The book begins this assessment by briefly recapitulating the origins of Trotskyism, as a political current within the communist movement, and elaborating its major elements, before describing the historical development of Trotskyism in the four countries where it has sunk the deepest roots and which house the clear majority of the world’s Fourth Internationals: Argentina, Britain, France and the USA. It then proceeds to map the current state of the global Trotskyist movement. Whatever their current size and status, Trotskyist organizations aspire to become mass political parties and lead revolutionary seizures of power. It is therefore appropriate to examine them through the metrics applied to mainstream parties, namely organization, membership and political influence. The author looks at the dynamics of the Trotskyist movement, focusing in particular on the supposedly harmful effects of the communist movement before then turning to examine the role of Trotskyist organizations in the many revolutionary situations that have appeared since the 1920s and in the various ‘cycles of protest’ that have occurred in the latter half of the 20th century and the early years of the 21st century. The final section examines the two success stories frequently cited in Trotskyist literature, namely the cases of Bolivia and Sri Lanka. The book concludes by setting out and examining a wide variety of explanations for the chronic and sustained weaknesses of the Trotskyist movement, including its flawed appraisals of contemporary politics and economics, ultra-radical programmes and policies, failures in understanding the dynamics of protest and the baleful legacy of Soviet communism. It is argued that these weaknesses are rooted in Trotskyist doctrine and are therefore integral, not peripheral, features of world Trotskyism. This volume will be essential reading for activists and scholars interested in the transnational history and politics of the radical left.

Plights, Plights, Plights… As a conclusion in ANTHROPOSAPIENTIC THEOLOGISM, the final chapter will benefit from a VIDEOLOGIZED TEXT, with both scientific and religious pre-existences, as synthesis of EPISTEMOLOGICAL CHRISTIANITY, or CHRISTIANITY OF RATIONAL REVELATION, in which Science and Faith are intertwined in the human who has become a Sapient Human Being… 12. Critical History, Critical Sapiens, Critical Christianity… These twelve apostles of crisis, these twelve angels of difficulties, these twelve preachers of fragilities, these twelve prophets of confusions, these twelve teachers of unrealities, these twelve sages of utopian history, these twelve soothsayers of endlessly plights, these twelve rhetoric of dys-stressing of humanity, all will be analysed in our set of classical books, of virtual books and video-books called SAPIENTOCHRISTIANITY REBUILD, with number one, two, three and perhaps, four… It is useless to add, that Sapiens will confront, will face out the Sapiens itself, and Christianity will confront, will face out the Christianity itself, by putting in and putting out the whole conceptological battlefield of our pillars of action, of contemplation, of praying, and of rebuilding both of them, for the history and historiology of Sapiens, of Christianity and of SAPIENTO-CHRISTIANITY in its togetherness… It is no need to emphasize that in order to alleviate, at least in part these dramatic developments in Sapiens and Christianity, primarily it is necessary to make an ENRICHMENT of Sapiens and Christianity, and this ENRICHMENT must change into a MOVEMENT, therefore an ENRICHMENT MOVEMENT / BEREICHERUNG BEWEGUNG, must be the uppermost goal of our radical endeavour in saving of what finally, could be saved!...
