Download or read book Reaper Two Six written by Robert Grand and published by Robert Grand. This book was released on 2011-07-26 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world is suffering from the effects of out-of-control terrorism. Governments are spending huge amounts of precious capital for the safety and security of air and rail transportation as well as inspections at all sea ports. The global economic effect is crippling; countries struggle to manage commerce, international trade, business growth, job creation and tourism. The world's economy is on the brink of collapse. The Global Defense Organization TM (GDO) has been created to be a cost effective multinational elite group that monitors, infiltrates and eliminates terrorist activities within all supporting countries. Known only as Reaper Two-Six TM, this secret 48 member squadron has quickly earned a reputation for precisely eliminating terrorist threats, in the air and on the ground. Why did China and Columbia oppose the creation of the GDO? Are they connected to global terrorist cells? Are they secretly financing the sale of weapons? The Reaper's greatest challenge is now upon them; infiltrate China and Columbia to discover their real intentions. Through a series of electrifying and heart-stopping missions, see how the Reapers use their skills and advanced technology to put fear back where it belongs, in the minds of the terrorists, not in the minds of its citizens.

Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten. She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious—her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands—with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club—to give them a better life. Living with outlaw bikers wasn’t Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn’t giving her a choice. He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way…

When metalhead Janet Buenviaje dies in a diving accident, she falls into an underworld prison where the only way out is through an eccentric reaper named Septimus Rex. As monarch of Soul City, Septimus Rex leads an army of supernatural Ravens tasked with the deportation of overstaying souls from the mortal realm. But the fates smile on Janet because the head reaper has problems of his own. He has fallen in love with a mortal girl; an abhorrent sign of weakness that, if discovered by the Ravens, will start a power struggle in Hell. With Janet's help, Septimus must now attempt to confess his feelings to the girl of his dreams so he can go back to being devoid of human sentiment. Janet is reincarnated as a Wampus Cat reaper and hatches an escape plan to the surface world. But she finds that things in the underworld are not what they seem and Septimus's problems run deeper, somehow even linked to her own mysterious past.

Download or read book Clicas written by Frank García and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2024-07-23 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How Latina/o/x gang literature and film represent women and gay gang members’ challenges to gendered, sexual, racial, and class oppression. Clicas examines Latina/o/x literature and film by and/or about gay and women gang members. Through close readings of literature and film, Frank García reimagines the typical narratives describing gang membership and culture, amplifying and complicating critical gang studies in the social sciences and humanities and looking at gangs across racial, ethnic, and national identities. Analyzing how the autobiographical poetry of Ana Castillo presents gang fashion, culture, and violence to the outside world, the effects of women performing female masculinity in the novel Locas, and gay gang members’ experiences of community in the documentary Homeboy, García complicates the dialogue regarding hypermasculine gang cultures. He shows how they are accessible not only to straight men but also to women and gay men who can appropriate them in complicated ways, which can be harming and also, at times, emancipating. Reading gang members as (de)colonial agents who contest the power relations, inequalities, oppressions, and hierarchies of the United States, Clicas considers how women and gay gang members resist materially and psychologically within a milieu shaped by the intersection of race, gender, sexuality, and class.
Download or read book The LeRue Review Holiday Issue 2013 written by Janice Hermsen and published by LeRue Press (LRP). This book was released on 2013-11-05 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Happy Holidays! We say Merry Christmas in our home and office, but we recognize that not everyone celebrates the same way. We hope whatever holiday you celebrate, you will enjoy it! With that said, we have a number of selections in our holiday issue. LeRue Press, in October, November and December is releasing a number of new titles. It kept us hopping these last few months. Don’t miss our backlist titles too. They are still as good as ever. We want to give thanks this holiday season to our veterans without whom we could not celebrate the freedom of the press and our many other freedoms in our world. We need to do our due diligence to keep those freedoms; Washington and power can get out of hand; it’s up to us, the people, to keep them in check. Off my soapbox now, our 4th Annual Book Blast is November 16th. If you’re reading this after that date, don’t fret, we’ll have another one in 2014 in November. Sean Savoy will be in attendance. He has a great follow up to our September issue about Banned Books Week in this issue (p.4). Ken Roberts always keeps us up to date on the stock market. You can read his column on page 5. Check out the upcoming workshops we’re presenting (p. 19) for consumers (automotive), business (motivational) and authors (all the how to’s you could need to know). Read about books, music, movies, art and more in each issue of The LeRue Review. Till next month...Keep reading and writing! -Janice Hermsen
