Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reality 101: A Must Have Guide to Life & Life Skills Survival Manual containing "Stuff we need to know, but they don't always tell us" was originally intended for young adults. However, it morphed into any-age adult life manual and guide containing such topics as sex, drugs, STDs/STIs, addictions, alcohol, banking, body image, career development, civil disobedience, cooking, court, death and grieving, doing good, domestic violence, driving, education, fitness, foster care, free weight loss and management, freedom of speech, frugal shopping, health and nutrition, hugs, hygiene, laundry, living green, parenting, pay-it-forward, pregnancy, relationships, self-defense, suicide, temper, tobacco, voting, love/hate, peace/war, success/failure, and other practical life skills amongst the 120 or so sections--with real life stories intertwined--in a comprehensive easy to read, user friendly format. One can open Reality 101 anywhere, any page and read a section or topic. It is styled more as a guide and manual to share knowledge, inspire, bring hope and understanding, provide answers, and to provoke thought. Reality101Book.com. Excerpt from Forward by Dana McKnight Flentroy, M.S.W. and Educational Consultant. I encourage not only every parent and teenager to have this life skills manual available as a reference but that any person of any age will find it full of indispensable information that can enhance the quality of your life and True Self. I found that after reading this manual on life skills that it would have been very beneficial to have as a resource when I was younger but that it provided me with valuable and useful information in my life currently. This life skills manual has allowed me to look at occurrences that I have had through out my life and I am currently experiencing with a new set of lens. In Reality 101, Kim Gayner not only covers the basics of going out into the world as a young adult, such as housing, finances, laundry, job searching and birth control but she covers the not so much discussed topics such as attitude, communication, compassion, death and grieving to chocolate. One of the many aspects that I found refreshing and valuable in reading this life survival guide is that Kim takes the risk of expressing views that aren t always politically correct but are many times the reality of life. This book provides the basics and not so basics of life skills for survival. Areas that aren t openly talked about but many have thought or experienced are covered in this A to Z guide on reality living. As a youth advocate, I mentor, teach, and life coach such aforementioned topics as well as do crisis counseling. As a single mom I have been a foster parent, and sheltered homeless youth as our community lacks such a facility or accommodations. In these situations I offer support, advocate for and nurture children, youth, and young adults. The intention of this book is to get the information out there to help youth, young adults, and whomever, and with the proceeds I intend to fund projects to benefit them including open a youth center and youth shelter, and bring awareness of such atrocities as child-trafficking, to name a few. As I see it a perfect circle, and a win-win. So, buy the book, give it as a gift to someone you care about, ask your library to carry it for those who can t buy it, spread the word, and know that it isn t just about buying a book but helping create a circle of hope, love, and compassion. Do-Good Now and enjoy. This title is available in Trade Cloth with Jacket (Hardcover), Case Laminate (Hardcover Text style), and Perfect Bound (Paperback/Softcover). Book excerpt: Transurfing Reality was one of the top non-fiction bestsellers in the world in 2005 and 2006. Unknown till now in the West, the series has sold over 1,300,000 copies in Russia in three years. This translation (by Natasha Micharina) describes a new way of looking at reality, indeed of creating it. Book Visible Borders Invisible Economies

Download or read book Visible Borders Invisible Economies written by Kristy L. Ulibarri and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2022-11-22 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globalization in the United States can seem paradoxical: free trade coincides with fortification of the southern border, while immigration is reimagined as a national-security threat. US politics turn aggressively against Latinx migrants and subjects even as post-NAFTA markets become thoroughly reliant on migrant and racialized workers. But in fact, there is no incongruity here. Rather, anti-immigrant politics reflect a strategy whereby capital uses specialized forms of violence to create a reserve army of the living, laboring dead. Visible Borders, Invisible Economies turns to Latinx literature, photography, and films that render this unseen scheme shockingly vivid. Works such as Valeria Luiselli’s Tell Me How It Ends and Alex Rivera’s Sleep Dealer crystallize the experience of Latinx subjects and migrants subjugated to social death, their political existence erased by disenfranchisement and racist violence while their bodies still toil in behalf of corporate profits. In Kristy L. Ulibarri’s telling, art clarifies what power obscures: the national-security state performs anti-immigrant and xenophobic politics that substitute cathartic nationalism for protections from the free market while ensuring maximal corporate profits through the manufacture of disposable migrant labor.

Book Beyond Biocentrism

Download or read book Beyond Biocentrism written by Robert Lanza and published by BenBella Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2016-05-03 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biocentrism shocked the world with a radical rethinking of the nature of reality. But that was just the beginning. In Beyond Biocentrism, acclaimed biologist Robert Lanza, one of TIME Magazine's "100 Most Influential People in 2014," and leading astronomer Bob Berman, take the reader on an intellectual thrill-ride as they re-examine everything we thought we knew about life, death, the universe, and the nature of reality itself. The first step is acknowledging that our existing model of reality is looking increasingly creaky in the face of recent scientific discoveries. Science tells us with some precision that the universe is 26.8 percent dark matter, 68.3 percent dark energy, and only 4.9 percent ordinary matter, but must confess that it doesn't really know what dark matter is and knows even less about dark energy. Science is increasingly pointing toward an infinite universe but has no ability to explain what that really means. Concepts such as time, space, and even causality are increasingly being demonstrated as meaningless. All of science is based on information passing through our consciousness but science hasn't the foggiest idea what consciousness is, and it can't explain the linkage between subatomic states and observation by conscious observers. Science describes life as a random occurrence in a dead universe but has no real understanding of how life began or why the universe appears to be exquisitely designed for the emergence of life. The biocentrism theory isn't a rejection of science. Quite the opposite. Biocentrism challenges us to fully accept the implications of the latest scientific findings in fields ranging from plant biology and cosmology to quantum entanglement and consciousness. By listening to what the science is telling us, it becomes increasingly clear that life and consciousness are fundamental to any true understanding of the universe. This forces a fundamental rethinking of everything we thought we knew about life, death, and our place in the universe.

Book Discworld and Philosophy

Download or read book Discworld and Philosophy written by Nicolas Michaud and published by Open Court. This book was released on 2016-08-09 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Discworld, unlike our own frustrating Roundworld, everything makes sense. The world is held up by elephants standing on the back of a swimming turtle who knows where he’s going, the sun goes round the world every day, so it doesn’t have to be very hot, and things always happen because someone intends them to happen. Millions of fans are addicted to Pratchett’s Discworld, and the interest has only intensified since Pratchett’s recent death and the release of his final Discworld novel, The Shepherd’s Crown, in September 2015. The philosophical riches of Discworld are inexhaustible, yet the brave explorers of Discworld and Philosophy cover a lot of ground. From discussion of Moist von Lipwig’s con artistry showing the essential con of the financial system, to the examination of everyone’s favorite Discworld character, the murderous luggage, to the lawless Mac Nac Feegles and what they tell us about civil government, to the character Death as he appears in several Discworld novels, Discworld and Philosophy gives us an in-depth treatment of Pratchett’s magical universe. Other chapters look at the power of Discworld’s witches, the moral viewpoint of the golems, how William de Worde’s newspaper illuminates the issue of censorship, how fate and luck interact to shape our lives, and why the more simple and straightforward Discworld characters are so much better at seeing the truth than those with enormous intellects but little common sense.

Equally geared toward both men and women, he openly explores many of the topics and answers the questions many single people have but are afraid to ask. "Beth" provides a woman's perspective by responding to all the topics, including ones such as: "Looking in the Mirror," "Playing Games," "Excuses," "Looks or Intelligence," and "It's Over When It's Over." Geared for people who love to laugh, the dating dilemmas covered in this guidebook are meant to encourage lively discussions around the water cooler or in the coffee shop about the never-ending quest for finding Mr. or Ms. Right.

Book The Atheist s Guide to Reality Enjoying Life without Illusions

Download or read book The Atheist s Guide to Reality Enjoying Life without Illusions written by Alex Rosenberg and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2011-10-03 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A book for nonbelievers who embrace the reality-driven life. We can't avoid the persistent questions about the meaning of life-and the nature of reality. Philosopher Alex Rosenberg maintains that science is the only thing that can really answer them—all of them. His bracing and ultimately upbeat book takes physics seriously as the complete description of reality and accepts all its consequences. He shows how physics makes Darwinian natural selection the only way life can emerge, and how that deprives nature of purpose, and human action of meaning, while it exposes conscious illusions such as free will and the self. The science that makes us nonbelievers provides the insight into the real difference between right and wrong, the nature of the mind, even the direction of human history. The Atheist's Guide to Reality draws powerful implications for the ethical and political issues that roil contemporary life. The result is nice nihilism, a surprisingly sanguine perspective atheists can happily embrace.
