Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the 37 papers presented at the 9th International Con- rence on Real-Time and Embedded Computing Systems and Applications (RT- CSA 2003). RTCSA is an international conference organized for scientists and researchers from both academia and industry to hold intensive discussions on advancing technologies topics on real-time systems, embedded systems, ubiq- tous/pervasive computing, and related topics. RTCSA 2003 was held at the Department of Electrical Engineering of National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. Paper submissions were well distributed over the various aspects of real-time computing and embedded system technologies. There were more than 100 participants from all over the world. The papers, including 28 regular papers and 9 short papers are grouped into thecategoriesofscheduling, networkingandcommunication, embeddedsystems, pervasive/ubiquitous computing, systems and architectures, resource mana- ment, ?le systems and databases, performance analysis, and tools and de- lopment. The grouping is basically in accordance with the conference program. Earlier versions of these papers were published in the conference proceedings. However, some papers in this volume have been modi?ed or improved by the authors, in various aspects, based on comments and feedback received at the conference. It is our sincere hope that researchers and developers will bene?t from these papers. We would like to thank all the authors of the papers for their contribution. We thank the members of the program committee and the reviewers for their excellent work in evaluating the submissions. We are also very grateful to all the members of the organizing committees for their help, guidance and support.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Researchers in management, industrial engineering, operations, and computer science have intensely studied scheduling for more than 50 years, resulting in an astounding body of knowledge in this field. Handbook of Scheduling: Algorithms, Models, and Performance Analysis, the first handbook on scheduling, provides full coverage of the most recent and advanced topics on the subject. It assembles researchers from all relevant disciplines in order to facilitate cross-fertilization and create new scheduling insights. The book comprises six major parts, each of which breaks down into smaller chapters: · Part I introduces materials and notation, with tutorials on complexity theory and algorithms for the minimization of makespan, total completion time, dual objectives, maximum lateness, the number of late jobs, and total tardiness. · Part II is devoted to classical scheduling problems. · Part III explores scheduling models that originate in computer science, operations research, and management science. · Part IV examines scheduling problems that arise in real-time systems, focusing on meeting hard deadline constraints while maximizing machine utilization. · Part V discusses stochastic scheduling and queueing networks, highlighting jobs that are not deterministic. · Part VI covers applications, discussing scheduling problems in airline, process, and transportation industries, as well as in hospitals and educational institutions.

Book Real Time Programming 1995 WRTP 95

Download or read book Real Time Programming 1995 WRTP 95 written by Phillip Laplante and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 1996 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings contain the papers presented at the 20th IFAC/IFIP Annual Workshop on Real Time Programming (WRTP '95) held in Florida, USA on 6-10 November 1995. The unifying theme of the Workshop was the problem presented by the designed construction and maintenance of complex computer systems which are important in sectors such as manufacturing, communications, defence, transportation, aerospace, hazardous environments, energy and health care. These systems frequently include distributed, heterogeneous networks and are constrained by requirements on performance, real time behaviour, fault tolerance, security, adaptability, development time and cost, long life concerns and other areas. The papers were grouped under various topics (complex and dependable real time systems, formal methods, languages, tools and environments, systems and software engineering, advanced applications such as imaging, database systems and heterogeneous systems) and reflect the desire to bring together industrial, academic and government experts from various disciplines and to promote long-term research, near-term effective complex systems requirements and promising tools.

Book Embedded Systems Handbook 2 Volume Set

Download or read book Embedded Systems Handbook 2 Volume Set written by Richard Zurawski and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 1462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past few years there has been an dramatic upsurge in research and development, implementations of new technologies, and deployments of actual solutions and technologies in the diverse application areas of embedded systems. These areas include automotive electronics, industrial automated systems, and building automation and control. Comprising 48 chapters and the contributions of 74 leading experts from industry and academia, the Embedded Systems Handbook, Second Edition presents a comprehensive view of embedded systems: their design, verification, networking, and applications. The contributors, directly involved in the creation and evolution of the ideas and technologies presented, offer tutorials, research surveys, and technology overviews, exploring new developments, deployments, and trends. To accommodate the tremendous growth in the field, the handbook is now divided into two volumes. New in This Edition: Processors for embedded systems Processor-centric architecture description languages Networked embedded systems in the automotive and industrial automation fields Wireless embedded systems Embedded Systems Design and Verification Volume I of the handbook is divided into three sections. It begins with a brief introduction to embedded systems design and verification. The book then provides a comprehensive overview of embedded processors and various aspects of system-on-chip and FPGA, as well as solutions to design challenges. The final section explores power-aware embedded computing, design issues specific to secure embedded systems, and web services for embedded devices. Networked Embedded Systems Volume II focuses on selected application areas of networked embedded systems. It covers automotive field, industrial automation, building automation, and wireless sensor networks. This volume highlights implementations in fast-evolving areas which have not received proper coverage in other publications. Reflecting the unique functional requirements of different application areas, the contributors discuss inter-node communication aspects in the context of specific applications of networked embedded systems.
